Meniere Disease and Hearing Aids - MMA

Meniere Disease and Hearing Aids

Patients with unilateral Meniere Disease often a distortion that causes difficulties to provide hearing aids to these patients. Those patients have two main problems: disorders in noise comprehension due to interaural threshold difference and increase in the distortion during dizziness crisis. Due to these problems, some people cannot be fitting with hearing aids because the compression needed is too high or the discomfort in noise is not bearable for patients. Our aim is to evaluate and to propose a way to adjust hearing aids to restore binaural hearing with comfort.

Appreciation for Music Processed by Hearing Aids

Appreciation for Music Processed by Hearing Aids

Normal-hearing participants aged 18-25 with and without musical training will listen to a series of short musical samples that have been recorded through hearing aids. The music will be played at a comfortable listening level. Subjects will use the computer to rate the sound quality of the music on a 7-point Likert scale.

Clinical Trial Evaluating Outcomes of Self-Fit and Professionally Fit Hearing Aids

Clinical Trial Evaluating Outcomes of Self-Fit and Professionally Fit Hearing Aids

Approximately 48 million people in the United States have hearing loss or hearing difficulties in noisy environments. Whisper.ai Inc has previously brought to market a commercial hearing aid system that reduces background noise and amplifies voices and sounds of interest using its proprietary platform based on machine learning and artificial intelligence technologies. Whisper.ai Inc now seeks to bring to market a new hearing system that will incorporate a "self-fitting" capability. Self-fitting hearing aids have emerged in recent years as a potentially viable option to calibrate hearing aids to the needs of individual users without clinician intervention. The purpose of this project is to evaluate the efficiency and reliability of the fitting procedure and algorithms developed by Whisper.ai Inc. The study will be carried out using a randomized crossover design in two phases: in phase 1, subjects will be tested and a hearing aid will be fitted using conventional audiological standard procedures , and in phase 2, the subject will be tested and a hearing aid will be fitted using the results of the self-fitting algorithm. Objective, subjective, and behavioral responses will be gathered from a variety of hearing-related surveys and tests, and will be analyzed quantitatively to evaluate the efficiency and reliability of the self-fitting algorithm. The investigators expect the fitting results of the Whisper.ai self-fitting algorithm to be similar to those of standardized fitting procedures conducted by hearing professionals.

Use of a Screening Tool to Describe HIV-Related Cancer Burden and Patient Characteristics in the AMC

Use of a Screening Tool to Describe HIV-Related Cancer Burden and Patient Characteristics in the AIDS Malignancy Consortium A Trial of the AIDS Malignancy Consortium (AMC)

This study is being done to understand how many people with HIV (PWH) present for cancer care across the AIDS Malignancy Consortium in the United States and if there are reasons that some PWH choose to participate, or not in cancer clinical trials. Optional quality of life surveys will be used to learn more about how HIV and cancer and HIV and cancer treatment affect people.

Feasibility and Potential Aids of Intra-operative Endo-vaginal Ultrasound When Performing Rectal Shaving for Endometriosis - ECHOENDO

Feasibility and Potential Aids of Intra-operative Endo-vaginal Ultrasound When Performing Rectal Shaving for Endometriosis

The protocol of this study consists in the inclusion of patients with endometriosic rectal involvement with a scheduled intervention. An endovaginal ultrasound will be performed in the operating room by the radiology team to confirm the operative indication of rectal shaving then in a second step a second ultrasound in the operating room will confirm the complete excision of the lesion or the case will allow to perform a more complete gesture (discoid or segmental resection) if the shaving is not sufficient with ultrasound and / or macroscopically

Comparison of Pain Scores by Using Audiovisual Aids.

Comparison of Pain Scores by Using Audiovisual Distraction Aids in Post Operative Paediatric Patients.

This study will be conducted at post anaesthesia care unit of Department of Anesthesiology, Aga Khan University Hospital Karachi. The aim of this study is to compare the post operative analgesia between two groups of post operative paediatric patients, Conventional group, receiving conventional analgesia and the group of patients in which distraction technique will be used. Conventional group will only receive conventional analgesia while the distraction group will receive conventional analgesia as well as distraction technique. Distraction technique that will be used is a non-pharmacological method of pain relief for post-operative paediatric patients in post anesthesia care unit. (games on tablets, listening poems, watching cartoons). Conventional analgesia is the standardise rescue analgesia of intravenous administration of analgesics in post anaesthesia care unit prescribed. The analgesia will include I/V Tramadol 0.5 to 1mg/kg and Paracetamol 10mg/kg). Our primary outcome will be pain scores using Wong-Baker FACES® pain rating scale and parent's satisfaction as secondary outcome.

Efficacy and Safety of Ainuovirine Treating With AIDS Patients - ESATA

The Efficacy and Safety of Ainuovirine in the Treatment of HIV-infected/AIDS Patients in China

Ainuovirine is the third generation of non nucleoside reverse transcriptase inhibitors(NNRTIs), for the treatment of HIV-1 infected adults. The existing clinical studies show that Ainuovirine is safe and potent, it solves the problem from the first-generation NNRTIs such as Efavirenz with large side effects and the second-generation like Rilpivirine not suitable for high viral load, but there are no relevant data or reports on the efficacy and safety of Ainuovirine in HIV-infected patients in China so far. This project aims to explore the efficacy and safety of ART regimens containing Ainuovirine for HIV-infected patients in real clinical environment, in further to guide clinical application.

Evaluation of Hearing Aids Rehabilitation Within Age-related Hearing Loss Population. - AGEHEAR

Longitudinal Evaluation of Hearing Aids Rehabilitation Within Age-related Hearing Loss Population : Behavioral and Neuroimaging PET Evaluations.

Hearing aids restore efficiently some auditory functions in age-related hearing loss (ARHL or presbycusis) providing to the elderly an access to oral communication and a return to social life. However, a most of the assessments of their efficacy focus on speech recognition. Spatial hearing and localization are anothers important auditory functions merely evaluated. The purpose of this study is to evaluate the hearing aids benefits for spatial hearing.
