The Effect of Bundle Approach on Foot Care Behaviors and Diabetic Wound Healing in Patients

The Effect of Bundle Approach on Foot Care Behaviors and Wound Healing in Patients Applying to Diabetic Wound Outpatient Clinic

This study was planned to standardize foot care behaviors with a patient-participated care package approach, to ensure healing of existing wounds, and to evaluate the effect on foot care behaviors to prevent the development of new diabetic foot ulcers. The sample of the study consisted of a total of 97 patients, 49 patients in the care package group and 48 patients in the control group. Hypotheses of the Study H1. The foot care behaviors of patients who receive a patient-participatory care package approach to diabetic foot ulcer prevention will be higher than those of patients who do not receive a care package. H2. Patient-involved care package approach prevents the development of new diabetic foot ulcers. H3. Patient-involved care package approach provides healing of existing diabetic ulcers.

The Difference in Wound Size Reduction Comparing Two Frequently Used Wound Dressings in Everyday Care - wound-size

The Difference in Wound Size Reduction Comparing Two Frequently Used Wound Dressings in Everyday Care - a Randomized Controlled Trail

Chronic wounds (CW) such as leg or foot ulcers are slow healing wounds. They have a high recurrence rate and are associated with pain, infection, smell and exudate. The signs and symptoms of a chronic wounds are not only a burden on those who are affected by it but also on the health care system and society in general. With a prevalence of 1% in the general population, the prevalence rises to 3% in the over 80-age group. Current therapeutic approaches are multifaceted and focus on improving wound healing and preventing recurrences. Advanced wound dressings, especially super absorbent dressings are an important part of the wound care. Heavy wound exudate, if unabsorbed, may damage surrounding healthy skin and thus delay wound healing and contribute to maceration and excoriation regimen as CW may deliver excessive amounts of exudate followed by maldour. Maldodourous wounds can have a profoundly negative impact on the quality of life of the patient and of their carers causing feelings of guilt repulsion and leading to social isolation and depression. Therefore, it is important to use effective advanced wound dressings that are capable of managing wound exudate and with that promote wound healing. Currently the standard approches to managing exudate and wound odour are the use of hydrocellular foam dressing with silver or absorbent dressings like of a sterile polyacrylate wound pad with activated carbon cloth treatment. However, there is no evidence demonstrating whether there is adifference in wound size as an indicator of wound healing when comparing the application of a sterile polyacrylate wound pad with activated carbon clothtreatment to a standard non-adhesive hydrocellular foam dressing with silver treatment in a randomised controlled trail. A randomized controlled trail with 90 participants in one wound care outpatient clinic is proposed. Data will be analysed using SPSS version 23. Univariate and bivariate analysis will be conducted according to the data level and distribution. This research project is designed to compare two wound dressings in everyday care. Since the cost of leg ulcers to individuals, the economy, and society is high, the evaluation of wound care dressings that leads to a reduction of wound size and promote wound healing are important for the individuals affected, their families, society at large and the health care system.

Managing Wounds With Allevyn Life in a Home Health Care Environment

A Randomized, Controlled Study of Allevyn Life in the Management of Wounds in Home Health Care

When elderly patients need help caring for wounds, physicians may refer patients to home health care providers. The home health provider sees the patient in the patient's home and assists the patient with wound care. Working with the patient's physician, the home health provider will use the appropriate wound covering ("dressing" or "bandage") to cover the wound. The goal of the home health provider is to ensure that the wound stays clean and progresses toward closure. The home health provider will conduct in-home patient visits at appropriate intervals to assess the status of the wound. Extensive resources are required to see patients in their own homes. If a dressing could effectively manage wounds and allow longer time between in-home visits (without affecting patient safety or progress of the wound toward closure), then resources could be saved. Thus, newer dressings are designed for longer wear times, using advanced foam pads and adhesives that help keep the dressing in place. The hypothesis of this study is that the use of Allevyn Life will decrease the number of in-home visits by home health providers without sacrificing patient safety.

Next Science Wound Gel Efficacy in Chronic Wound Versus Standard of Care

Clinical Assessment of the Next Science Wound Gel Efficacy in Chronic Wound Compared to Standard of Care

This is a 3 to 4 months, multi-site, prospective randomized clinical study of patients diagnosed with a chronic wound. The primary objective is to assess changes in healing rate, by measuring differences in wound area when treating chronic wounds with the Next Science Wound Gel compared to the Triple Antibiotic Ointment Neosporin (Standard of Care, SOC). At the end of the study period, patients may continue receiving their assigned study treatment provided they have signed the "Continuation of Treatment Informed Consent" and the rational for continuation is documented by the investigator.

Effectiveness and Efficiency of Two Models of Delivering Care to a Chronic Wound Population

Effectiveness and Efficiency of Two Models of Delivering Care to a Chronic Wound Population

Individuals referred to home care for leg ulcer management were randomized to nurse home visits (usual care) or nurse-run community clinics (intervention). The primary outcome will be the time to healing rates at three months. Secondary outcomes are: time to healing of all ulcers within the 12 month follow-up period, time to first recurrence of a healed ulcer, the number of weeks patients were free from ulcers, function, pain, and health related quality of life, client and provider satisfaction. We hypothesize that nurse-run neighborhood clinics result in better healing rates, more cost-effective care, and improved client and provider satisfaction than the home visiting model.

DETECĀ® Esterase for Screening Wound Infection at Point of Care

Non-interventional, Prospective, Single-blinded, Observational, Multicenter, Cohort, Clinical Study to Evaluate DETECĀ® Esterase for the Detection of Infections in Chronic Wounds

This non-interventional, single-blinded, prospective, observational study assesses the planar distribution of leukocyte esterase in wounds by placing wound exudates soaked wound dressings in the DETEC® Esterase device during routine wound care. The output of the device is correlated with clinical determination of infection to assess the device efficacy in identifying presumptive infections.
