NCT ID: NCT06270277 Completed - Clinical trials for Inflammatory Bowel Diseases

Evaluation of Quality of Life and Psychosocial Status in Children With Inflammatory Bowel Disease

Start date: February 14, 2024
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

Inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) is a chronic condition that affects the psychosocial status and physical activities of children and their parents in many ways. Our study aimed to investigate the variability of disease-related quality of life and behavioral and emotional adjustment issues compared to a healthy control group among adolescents and their families diagnosed with IBD. Children with IBD and the healthy control group, as well as the parents of both groups, will administered the Pediatric Quality of Life Inventory (PedsQL) and Strengths and Difficulties Questionnaire (SDQ). The PedsQL is a scale used to assess physical and psychosocial functioning based on the individual's own experiences, commonly employed in clinical trials and quality improvement initiatives. The scale evaluates physical activity status and psychosocial functioning through questions related to emotional, social, and school-related issues.

NCT ID: NCT05568342 Completed - Clinical trials for Stress Disorders, Post-Traumatic

The Effect of Roy Adaptation-Based Nursing Intervention

Start date: September 1, 2016
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

Abstract Objective: The research was conducted to determine the effect of the nursing intervention, which was given to patients according to the Roy Adaptation Model, on patients' stress, psychosocial adjustment, and self-care power. Methods: The population of the study, which was conducted as a randomized controlled experimental study, consisted of 80 patients receiving outpatient dialysis treatment in the hemodialysis unit of a university hospital. The patients from the population were included in the sample of the study in a randomized manner. The data were collected using the Descriptive Characteristics Form, the Hemodialysis Stressor Scale, the Self-Care Scale, and the Psychosocial Adjustment to Illness Scale. Results: When the pre-tests between the groups were compared, hygienic self-care power, healthcare orientation, vocational environment, domestic environment, sexual relationships, extended family relations, social environment and total psychosocial adjustment levels changed significantly (p<0.05). When the post-tests were compared between the groups, no significant difference was found only in the mean of the mental state sub-dimension (p>0.05). Conclusion: Interventions made according to the Roy Adaptation Model reduced the stress level of the patients, and increased their self-care power and psychosocial adjustment. Keywords: Hemodialysis, Roy Adaptation Model, Stress, Self-Care Power, Psychosocial Adjustment

NCT ID: NCT05442957 Recruiting - Clinical trials for Head and Neck Cancer

Building a Renewed ImaGe After Head & Neck Cancer Treatment (BRIGHT) Multi-Site RCT

BRIGHT
Start date: February 14, 2023
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

In this multi-center randomized clinical trial, head and neck cancer (HNC) survivors with clinically significant body image distress (BID) (N=180) will be randomized to BRIGHT (a brief video tele-cognitive behavioral therapy intervention) or Attention Control (AC, a manualized tele-supportive care intervention that controls for professional attention, dose, delivery method, and common factors). HNC survivors will complete IMAGE-HN (a validated patient-reported outcome measure [PROM] of HNC-related body image distress [BID]; primary endpoint), measures of psychological and social well-being and quality of life (QOL), and measures of theory-derived mechanisms of change underlying BRIGHT (mediators).

NCT ID: NCT05365932 Completed - Pain Clinical Trials

Evaluation of an Intra Auricular Device as a Treatment for Painful Temporo-Mandibular Disorders

IAD
Start date: November 29, 2018
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

Background: An innovative, non-invasive, and reversible Intra Auricular Device (IAD) has recently been introduced to treat temporomandibular muscle and joint disorders.Aim: To evaluate the effects of the IAD on pain, psychosocial domain and Pressure Pain Threshold (PPT) of masticatory muscles in patients with TMD pain. Methods: Ten subjects with TMD pain and with pain intensity higher than 30 mm on a VAS scale were included in the study. Patients received the IAD and counselling. Assessments included questionnaires of the DC/TMD Axis II questionnaires (Characteristic Pain Index, Interference, Jaw Functional Limitation Scale, Patient Health Questionnaire 9, Patient Health Questionnaire 15, Generalized Anxiety Disorder scale, Oral Behavior Checklist and Oral Health Impact Profile-22, Axis I clinical examination and PPTs at baseline (T0), after one month (T1), three months (T2) and six months (T3) from the first use of the device. PPTs were measured at anterior temporalis muscles, masseter muscles and right thenar as a control site. The Shapiro-Wilk test was used for the normal distribution of data. The difference among the longitudinal timepoints for variable was analysed with ANOVA. Statistical significance was accepted at p < 0.05.

NCT ID: NCT05162287 Completed - Clinical trials for Personality Disorders

Child and Adolescent Psychiatric Personality Structure

CAPPS
Start date: December 1, 2021
Phase:
Study type: Observational

The study plan outlined here represents an investigation of instruments on the patients treated in the acute ward of child and adolescent psychiatry at the University Medical Center Hamburg Eppendorf (UKE). The psychosocial burden of the affected children and adolescents is evident due to the severity of the disorders leading to specific admission. The psychosocial burden can be defined as "psychological, social, or school-occupational functional impairment [...] that has arisen as a consequence of a mental disorder, a specific developmental disorder, or an intellectual impairment". The current research project aims to survey the severity of psychosocial distress, personality functioning impairment, and social withdrawal. A better knowledge of these factors may contribute to a more suitable, specialized treatment offer on the acute ward in the medium term.
