MR-guided Prostate Stereotactic Body Radiotherapy in Seven Days

The Proseven trial is a prospective interventional study that will evaluate the toxicity and efficacy of MR-guided stereotactic body radiotherapy (SBRT) in the profound hypofractionated treatment of prostate cancer. Patients will be treated in 5 daily fractions within a short overall treatment time (OTT) of 7 days. A simultaneous integrated boost (SIB) will be delivered to the intraprostatic dominant lesion (if present) in this study. Besides a potential biological impact of this innovative prostate SBRT treatment, the reduced OTT offers also benefits in terms of patient convenience. The primary endpoint is clinician reported grade 2 or more acute gastrointestinal (GI) and genitourinary (GU) toxicity, assessed using CTCAE v 5.0 and RTOG, measured up to 3 months after the first treatment fraction.

Predictors of Mental Health in Men With Prostate Cancer Undergoing a Patient Empowerment Program

Each year over 20,000 men are diagnosed with prostate cancer in Canada with the majority undergoing some form of treatment option. Radical prostatectomy and/or radiation therapy are common procedures that are effective in the treatment of prostate cancer. However, they typically incur both short- and long-term side effects (e.g. urinary incontinence, sexual dysfunction, reduced physical function, etc) that can negatively impact one's quality of life. This program of research aims to address the most critical needs of PC survivors: the development and evaluation of interventions to address the quality of life impact of PC. This study will test the Prostate Cancer Patient Empowerment Program (PC-PEP) in 400 men, a comprehensive intervention aimed at educating and teaching the men life skills/habits in order to improve their mental health issues, fitness levels and overall quality of life, and to decrease treatment related side effects. The program also aims to improve the overall health of the participants in the long term.

RATIONALE: Radiation therapy uses high-energy x-rays to damage tumor cells. Androgens can stimulate the growth of prostate cancer cells. Hormone therapy can fight prostate cancer by androgen deprivation. It is not yet known if neoadjuvant radiation therapy is a more effective therapy for high-risk prostate cancer. Use of Indocyanine Green During Pelvic Lymph Node Dissection in Prostate Cancer.

Standard treatment of local or locally advanced prostate cancer is radical prostatectomy (RRP) surgery. During RRP in certain patients extended lymph node dissection (ELND) is recommended. to detect eligible patients for ELND some nomograms based on clinical factors of them is used. The Briganti nomogram is one of them. If the patient has 7% or more probability on Briganti nomogram, then ELND is recommended. But ELND is complicated surgical procedure and may cause labor lost and cost. It is aimed here to show whether the ICG based fluorescence imaging during laparoscopy may yield higher accuracy to detect metastatic LNs than the conventional ELND?

This is a Phase II prospective clinical trial in which patients with prostate carcinoma and obstructive lower urinary tract symptoms electing for radiation therapy will undergo Prostatic Artery Embolization (PAE) prior to treatment. PAE will be administered by Interventional Radiology. Patients will be seen for follow-up at 6 weeks and 12 weeks following PAE after which they will start definitive radiotherapy. After completion of radiotherapy the patient will be seen at 12 weeks

Diet and Physical Activity Intervention for the Prevention of ADT-Induced Metabolic Changes in Patients With Prostate Cancer, TRIPLE-A PILOT Study

This clinical trial studies the effects of a diet and physical activity intervention on blood measures of lipids and insulin resistance in patients with prostate cancer undergoing radiation therapy (RT) and androgen deprivation therapy (ADT). ADT effectively slows the growth of prostate cancer cells, thereby enhancing the therapeutic effectiveness of RT. Despite the clinical gains, ADT leads to an array of side effects including insulin resistance, abnormal lipid levels, weight gain, increased visceral fat mass coupled with increased muscle wasting, and quality of life deterioration. A diet and physical activity intervention may intercept or prevent the abrupt metabolic and physiologic changes caused by androgen deprivation therapy in prostate cancer patients receiving ADT and RT.
