Aromatherapy
Start date: February 1, 2024
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

Aromatherapy is;the science of using highly concentrated essential oils or essences distilled from plants to take advantage of their therapeutic properties. Essential oils or essences are obtained from various parts of plants (root, leaf, flower, bark, fruit) and used therapeutically for physical and psychological well-being. Premenstrual syndrome (PMS) is a health problem characterized by the periodic occurrence of physical, cognitive, emotional and behavioral symptoms during the luteal phase of the menstrual cycle, ending with the onset of menstruation or with the alleviation of symptoms within a few days after the onset of menstruation. It is reported that approximately 80-95% of women complain of PMS complaints. Although the use of aromatherapy in womens health is widespread, there is no study comparing bergamot and grapefruit essential oils. The aim of this study was to determine the effect of aromatherapy with bergamot and grapefruit essential oils on premenstrual syndrome and menstrual symptoms.

Follow-up Assessment of a Trial of Open-label Placebos for Women With Premenstrual Syndrome

Start date: January 4, 2024
Phase:
Study type: Observational

With the proposed study, the investigators aim to evaluate the long-term efficacy of the open-label placebo (OLP) intervention in premenstrual syndrome (PMS) and to contribute to a broader understanding of how OLPs work. It is planned to survey participants of the intervention groups (OLP+ and OLP-) regarding symptom intensity and impairment due to PMS after the conclusion of our randomized controlled trial (RCT) and intervention provision. Additionally, it will be examined if there is a difference between the OLP group with and without a treatment rationale (OPL+ vs. OLP-) across time. More precisely, it will be investigated whether participants of the intervention groups with and without treatment rationale experience any long-term improvement.

Effect of Pomegranate Supplementation on Symptom Severity in Women With Premenstrual Syndrome

Start date: January 2, 2024
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

Premenstrual syndrome (PMS) is a common disorder among women of reproductive age. About 40% of women report problems with their menstrual cycle. Pomegranate supplementation is one of the practices that may reduce symptoms of premenstrual syndrome (PMS). This study was planned to determine the effect of pomegranate supplementation on the severity of premenstrual syndrome (PMS) symptoms. In the study to be conducted in 2023 with women diagnosed with PMS living in Sakarya province, the individuals to be included in the study will be determined by snowball sampling method and those who meet the inclusion criteria will participate in the study. The researchers will divide the participants into control and intervention groups by using NCSS (statistical software) in a 1:1 ratio using a simple block randomization approach based on CONSORT guidelines. The individuals in the control group will first be administered the PMSÖ (Premenstrual Syndrome Rating Scale) and no intervention will be made. Participants in the intervention group will be informed about 3 mL pomegranate supplementation 13,14 three times a day for 10 days during 2 menstrual cycles (between 7 days before and 3 days after the estimated onset of menstruation). The test will be repeated at the end of the 2nd month post-intervention. Normality of continuous data will be assessed by Kolmogorov-Smirnov test. Data will be expressed as mean ± SD or median and interquartile range (IQR) as appropriate. Variables will be compared between the two intervention and placebo groups using Student's T-test (parametric data) or Mann-Whitney (non-parametric data) or chi-square tests (for qualitative indices). Analyses of changes from pre-intervention to post-intervention within the identified groups will be performed using the Dependent Two Sample t Test (normally distributed parameters) or Wilcoxon signed rank test (non-normally distributed and categorical parameters). All statistical calculations will be performed with SPSS software version 18.

The Effect of PVE Applied in Addition to Pilates on Premenstrual Symptoms, Pain, Sleep and QoL in Individuals With PMS

Start date: December 1, 2013
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

Effects of Training Given to Cope With Premenstrual Syndrome and Mandala Activity on Premenstrual Symptoms

MANDALA
Start date: October 25, 2023
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

The research employs a pre-test post-test control group design with a randomized controlled semi-experimental approach to determine the impact of education provided for coping with premenstrual syndrome and Mandala activity on premenstrual symptoms. Research Hypotheses: H01: Mandala activity is not effective in reducing premenstrual symptoms. H02: Education provided for coping with premenstrual syndrome is not effective in reducing premenstrual symptoms. H13: Mandala activity is effective in reducing premenstrual symptoms. H14: Education provided for coping with premenstrual syndrome is effective in reducing premenstrual symptoms. H15: Mandala activity is more effective than education provided for coping with premenstrual syndrome in reducing premenstrual symptoms among students with PMS. Research Groups: Mandala Group, Coping with Premenstrual Symptoms Education Group, and Control Group.

The Effect of Education Given According to the Health Promotion Model on Premenstrual Symptoms, Emotional Eating Behavior and Perceived Stress

Premenstrual
Start date: October 30, 2023
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

Nurses have important duties in this regard due to their roles such as health education, health protection, development and consultancy. In this study, it is thought that the training given according to the health promotion model will both create a resource for nurses and contribute to the literature with the results obtained by applying this training to people experiencing PMS.The research will be conducted as a pretest-posttest randomized controlled study. H1: Education given according to the health promotion model has an effect on premenstrual symptoms, emotional eating behavior and perceived stress. H0: Education given according to the health promotion model has no effect on premenstrual symptoms, emotional eating behavior and perceived stress. The total number of students in the research population is 330.In the G*Power 3.1.9.7 program, for the effect size t test, d = 0.94, alpha (α) = 0.05, and power (1-β) = 0.95, and the minimum total sample number was determined as 52, experimental group: 26, control group: 26. . However, taking into account the losses in the study, a total of 60 people will be included in the study. (experiment:30, control:30). The first group will be divided into the group trained according to the health promotion model using the Philips 66 technique, and the second group will be divided into the control group.
