Role of Technology in Addressing Societal Challenges - New Governance

Technology and data can bring opportunities for increased societal benefits for example regarding health, environmental sustainability and energy. There can be clashes between regimes which aim to bring these benefits about, and the outcomes which are dictated if one looks to only laws and regimes with a focus on technology and data, notably information and intellectual property (IP) laws. A recent example of a clash was seen between IP, human rights and health in relation to COVID-19. This study is part of a project exploring the place and impact of clashes on the operation of regimes and possible new potential forms of governance, structure and regime creation which could be developed. The project will explore the establishment and operation of the Scottish Public Benefit and Privacy Panel for Health and Social Care. It will also explore approaches to data and technology in the UK oil and gas licensing framework; a developing new international regime in relation to marine biodiversity, benefit sharing and technology transfer; and approaches in Scotland and in England to private or public ownership and licensing of soil and environmental data, including those funded by research councils. It may also include the European data strategy and the development of the pan African free trade agreement and its approach to IP. Some of these regimes engage directly with laws relating to data and technology, notably private rights, information control and IP; some do not. The study will interrogate, through qualitative research with key figures who and are involved, the drivers for structural approaches being taken; levels of engagement in creating and operating new regimes with regime and laws focussed on data and technology; and the possible impact of data and technology regimes on the new regimes' wider goals.

Effects of Match Play Exercises and Plyometric Training on Explosive Power, Agility and Functional Performance

Technique is the most important part of football for scoring goal and in defense of the goal lower limbs are the most important part of the player to be focused on as moving with the ball and training method is important in training football players for their matches. Use of training method in football players can either be a match play training or plyometric training. Plyometric training is considered an effective tool for increasing tendon stiffness. Plyometric training produces improvements in jump performance and lower body strength performance. A training program for young football players, using minimum equipment and effort, can result in improved player performance and a reduction in the risk of a possible overuse injury, reflected by an improvement in lower limb range of motion. Match play training patterns are mostly followed by the coaches to enhance the performance and plyometric are used for the efficient training programs. This study will be a randomized clinical trial conducted at Pakistan sports board in Lahore. The study will be completed within the time duration of Six months. Non probability convenient sampling technique will be used to collect the data. The sample size of 15 participants each group will be taken in this study to find the effects of match play exercise versus plyometric on explosive power, Agility and functional performance in football players. Football players will be divided into 2 groups Group A will be given the match play training and Group B will be given plyometric trainings and at the end of the 6 week the results will be checked on power, agility and fictional performance. Power: (MRC scale) , Agility: Comprehensive Agility Measurement Tool (CAMT), Functional Performance: The Functional Movement Scale (FMS) tools will be used to measure the difference between the training pattern of 6 weeks which is more effective for the football players. The data will be collected using the SPSS 24. In descriptive statistics Frequency tables, pie charts, bar charts will be used to show summary of group measurements measured over time... The objective of this study is to Determine Comparative Effects of Match play training and plyometric training on Explosive power, Agility and Functional performance in football players.

Investigation of power and speed in relation to the increasing instability in a group of untrained athletes and a group of expert athletes. In this way, the effectiveness of unstable training for different types of athletes can be tested. Our hypothesis is that as instability increases there is a gradual decrease in power and speed of execution, but not too relevant in the expert group.

Effect of 8-week Intake of 2S-hesperidin on Performance, Body Composition and Biochemicals Markers in Amateur Cyclists

This clinical study evaluates the effect of 500 mg of 2S-hesperidin for 8 weeks on performance (power generated in different metabolic zones), body composition (fat and muscle mass) and biochemical (antioxidant, inflammatory status) and metabolic (capillary blood in finger) markers in amateur cyclists. Our hypothesis is that chronic intake of 2S-hesperidin can improve performance (maximum power generated). To justify this hypothesis, we measured the parameters mentioned above, which could establish a cause-effect relationship between 2S-hesperidin intake and possible yield improvement.

Rate of Torque Development and Voluntary Quadriceps Activation in Patients With Knee Osteoarthritis: A Quantitative Analysis Before and After a Single Session of Manual Physical Therapy

This is a randomized control trial to determine if there is a measurable change in voluntary quadriceps activation, RTD, pain, and function before and after a single session of manual physical therapy. The researchers will utilize a sample of convenience with consecutive sampling at the Brooke Army Medical Center physical therapy clinic for patients referred for knee osteoarthritis. As is standard of care, patients will be provided a medical intake form and a clinical outcome measure commensurate with their primary anatomic region for which they are seeking physical therapy (i.e.: Lower Extremity Functional Scale for hip, knee, or ankle pain). If patients choose to partake in the study, they will complete the consent form and the initial physical therapy evaluation will be conducted. They will then be provided an appointment for data collection at the Army-Baylor Center for Rehabilitation Research biomechanics lab at the Army Medical Department Center and School. The treatment group will receive one 30-minute session of orthopedic manual physical therapy targeting the knee joint and soft tissues with complementary exercises targeted at their impairment. The control group will receive a 30-minute class on knee OA diagnosis, prognosis, various treatment options, and will conclude with a question and answer with the researcher. Both groups will receive their intervention from a board-certified physical therapist in the Army-Baylor Orthopedic Manual Therapy Fellowship program. At the conclusion of formal testing, the patient will be provided standard physical therapy care as deemed appropriate by their evaluating physical therapist. Thus, all subjects, regardless of their assigned group, will receive the same standard of care for their knee pain.
