Filter by:Studies on gastrocnemius tightness in healthy children are limited, but there is evidence that ankle dorsiflexion decreases with increasing age in children. It is not known whether gastrocnemius tightness is a normal finding in children, but recurrent leg pain is common in children. It is also known that flexible flatfoot is a normal observation in developing children and that the medial longitudinal arch develops during the first decade of life. Both foot morphology and ankle dorsiflexion change in developing children; however, it is not known whether there is a relationship between them or not. In the literature, there is no study evaluating foot posture, muscle strength, functional performance, and postural control in children with isolated gastrocnemius muscle tightness. It was planned to evaluate postural control using computerized dynamic posturography (Biodex Balance System), lower extremity muscle strength using a hand-held dynamometer, foot posture using the Foot Posture Index (FPI-6), and functional performance using single-foot-double-foot jump tests in healthy children with isolated gastrocnemius muscle tightness.
The goal of this study [type of study: clinical trial] is to was planned to investigate the effect of motor imagery training given to geriatric individuals with action observation on their balance performance and to compare these two methods. The main questions it aims to answer are: 1. Is virtual reality-based balance training given together with action observation and motor imagery for six weeks in geriatric individuals more effective in improving static balance than virtual reality-based balance training given alone? 2. Is virtual reality-based balance training given together with action observation and motor imagery for six weeks in geriatric individuals more effective in improving dynamic balance than virtual reality-based balance training given alone? 3. Is virtual reality-based balance training given together with motor imagery for six weeks in geriatric individuals more effective in increasing balance confidence than virtual reality-based balance training given alone? 46 geriatric individuals will be randomized into 2 groups. Along with action observation, motor imagery training and virtual reality-based balance training will be given to the study group. On the other hand, only virtual reality-based balance training will be given to the control group. All assessments will be repeated before and after the trainings. The trainings will be applied 2 days a week for 6 weeks. Each training session; 25 minutes for the control group and 45 minutes for the study group.
The aim of this research is to find and compare the effect of Motor control exercises with and without neural mobilization on postural control of older adults.
Goal: Various studies suggest a negative association between spatial neglect and motor outcomes after stroke (Barrett & Muzaffar 2014) (Kwakkel 2014). Our goal is to assess: - The longitudinal interaction of the recovery of spatial neglect with the recovery of motor function and outcomes (such as paresis, sitting balance and standing balance) - Whether the association is different across the different subtypes of spatial neglect (visuospatial/personal/ADL-related) - The role of compensation strategies for balance control in patients with spatial neglect To do so, we will perform a longitudinal cohort study in which we will repetitively assess post-stroke patients using a comprehensive assessment approach for both spatial neglect and motor outcomes. With regards to neglect, we will evaluate various aspects of both visuospatial and personal neglect. For motor outcomes, we will combine clinical and instrumented (biomechanical) assessment methods to evaluate post-stroke recovery of leg paresis, (sitting and standing) balance and gait.
To analyze the short-term effect of kinesiology taping on sitting postural control in moderate and severe cerebral palsy

This study measures the effects of an Adapted Physical Activity on postural control of residents in nursing home. Half of participants will follow a program training 3 times a week during 8 weeks, while the other half will receive the usual accompaniment.

Elastic Bandaging Therapy (BET) is a technique that consists of the application of elastic adhesive tape directed on a skin, and is used for pain reduction, improvement of flexibility, postural alignment. It is believed that it can help proprioception by increasing or reducing muscle tension by acting on motor coordination and balance. The present study aims to evaluate the effect of the application of different BET strategies on the postural balance of healthy young women through measures obtained through a proper instrument for a balance assessment, a force platform.
