View clinical trials related to Postoperative Complications.
Filter by:The investigators aim to analyze the management of children born with gastroschisis between January 2009 and December 2023, i.e. to evaluate post-operative follow-up, hospitalization costs, the risk of post-operative umbilical hernia, and the parents' and the child's appreciation of the scar.
The goal of this observational study is to observe the postoperative dietary intake in older adult hip fracture patients from their day of surgery (day zero) until day three inclusive. The aims of this study are: Primary aim: To observe if the postoperative dietary energy intake (kJ/kcal) of older adult hip fracture patients meets Resting Energy Expenditure (REE) needs. Secondary aims: To explore if there is a correlation between postoperative dietary intake and length of hospital stay. To explore the relationship between comorbidity (where reported) and postoperative dietary intake, according to dietary intake. To explore (if) in the development of postoperative complications (infection, pressure ulcer and VTE), there is a correlation with postoperative dietary intake.
"A randomized control trial will be conducted among 189 patients who have undergone cardiac surgery in past. The participants for this research will be patients of Pakistan Institute of Cardiology, University of Lahore Teaching Hospital, Azra Naheed Medical College and Bahria International Hospital. The chest physiotherapy technique will be applied on 2 controlled groups. In 94 patients the effects of chest physiotherapy will be checked post - operatively and the effects will be checked on other half pre - operatively. The data will be gathered on practical performance and treatment based along with questionnaire. The data collected will then be analyzed using SPSS"
Perioperative SARS-CoV-2 infection significantly increases the risk of postoperative complications and mortality, while also exerting long-lasting impacts on multiple organs and systems. Due to the curtailment or cessation of non-emergency surgeries during the initial phase of the pandemic, there is a lack of evidence regarding the optimal timing and medium- to long-term postoperative outcomes of surgical intervention in breast cancer patients with prior SARS-CoV-2 infection, particularly after vaccination. We aim to investigate whether prior SARS-CoV-2 infection increases the risk of postoperative adverse outcomes in breast cancer patients and determine the optimal timing for surgical intervention during the pandemic, as well as to longitudinally assess the evolution of postoperative adverse outcomes within one year after COVID-19 and identify associated risk factors.
Fibroids are the most commonly encountered tumors in the female reproductive system. In patients, fibroids most often lead to abnormal uterine bleeding and the resulting anemia. In some cases, they can cause infertility or habitual abortions. Another complaint caused by fibroids is pain due to pressure and effects on adjacent organs. Very large fibroids can lead to abdominal swelling. Therefore, if a patient becomes symptomatic due to fibroids, myomectomy or, if necessary, hysterectomy is required. Because fibroids have a significant blood supply, there is a high risk of intraoperative bleeding and related complications. Additionally, the most common complication in these patients after the operation is bleeding. In many of these patients, intraoperative or postoperative blood transfusions are performed. If bleeding cannot be intervened early in these patients, hemodynamic instability, shock, coagulopathy, and, in the final stage, death can occur due to hemorrhage. Therefore, both intraoperative and postoperative bleeding control is of vital importance in patients undergoing myomectomy.
Lower third molar extraction is one of the most frequently performed surgical procedures in dentistry. Common sequelae, including pain, swelling and trismus, can severely affect patients' quality of life during the immediate postoperative period. The aim of this randomized-controlled trial is to clinically evaluate the reduction of lower third molar extraction-related complications, such as swelling and pain, and wound healing, following submucosal infiltration of injectable platelet rich fibrin.
A cost-utility analysis based on an earlier published RCT comparing surgery with volar locking plate to non-operative treatment for the elderly with a displaced distal radius fracture.
The investigators designed a protocol for a Bayesian unplanned posthoc analysis using the pooled dataset from three large randomized clinical trials. The primary endpoint will be a composite of postoperative pulmonary complications (PPC) within the first seven postoperative days, which reflects the primary endpoint of the original studies. The investigators will carry out a reanalysis of the harmonised database using Bayesian statistics.
The goal of this study is to develop a novel surgical risk stratification tool designed to adults operated in Brazil. The main question it aims to answer is: •Is the Extended Care (Ex-Care) II model a good tool to assess the risk of death among patients operated in Brazilian hospitals within 30 days after surgery? Information of patients undergoing surgery in the participating hospitals over a period of 24 months will be analyzed to evaluate the relationship of some patients characteristics (called predictors) with the study outcome (probability of death). The sample will be divided in two groups. The first, called derivation sample, will be used for the development of the Ex-Care II model. The second, called validation sample, will evaluate the performance of this new model.
In recent years, with the continuous development of minimally invasive techniques, laparoscopic pancreatic surgery has also been widely used. Although the postoperative mortality rate of laparoscopic pancreatic surgery has been decreasing as the technology continues to improve and mature, the complication rate reported varies widely among centers. The definition and grading criteria of ISGPS on postoperative complications of pancreatic surgery are mostly proposed based on open pancreatic surgery, and most of the data of the later related studies are also for open pancreatic surgery, while the applicability of the definition and grading criteria in laparoscopic pancreatic surgery is still lacking in systematic The study The main purpose of this study is to investigate the applicability of the ISGPS definition and grading criteria for pancreatic fistula, postoperative bleeding and delayed gastric emptying in laparoscopic pancreatic surgery.
