NCT ID: NCT05207436 Completed - Clinical trials for Post Traumatic Stress Disorder

Brief Cognitive Behavioral Conjoint Therapy for PTSD With Adjunctive Intranasal Oxytocin

CBCT+OT
Start date: January 17, 2022
Phase: Phase 2
Study type: Interventional

In 2019 VA mandated that all Veterans seeking mental health care have access to flexible family mental health services in VA (VHA directive 1163.04). This study aims to respond to this mandate by further improving an evidence-based PTSD treatment designed to decrease PTSD symptoms and improve relationship satisfaction for Veterans and their romantic partners. Brief Cognitive-Behavioral Conjoint Therapy (B-CBCT), an 8-session dyadic psychotherapy for PTSD, has been found to significantly reduce PTSD symptoms, but the effects of B-CBCT on relationship satisfaction are less reliable and robust. Pharmacological augmentation of psychotherapy utilizing intranasal oxytocin, a neurohormone that influences mechanisms of trauma recovery and social behavior, may help improve relationship satisfaction outcomes. If successful, the proposed study will advance knowledge of strategies for improving Veterans' quality of life by improving their intimate relationships along with PTSD symptoms.

NCT ID: NCT05206734 Completed - Schizophrenia Clinical Trials

NCT ID: NCT05137769 Completed - Clinical trials for Post Traumatic Stress Disorder

Women's Responses to a Mindfulness-Based Body Scan: A Pilot Study

Start date: April 15, 2022
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

PTSD develops after trauma and is marked by intrusive memories, avoidance of reminders, negative changes in mood and cognitive processes, and dysregulated physical and emotional stress reactivity. PTSD disparately affects twice as many women as men (8.0% vs. 4.1%), and finding effective treatments for these women is critical to reduce poor health outcomes associated with PTSD. Mind-body therapies (MBT), using the mind in combination with the body to facilitate healing hold promise to enhance PTSD treatment by improving stress regulation. While MBT reduce PTSD symptoms long-term, women with PTSD may initially experience distress, leading to treatment avoidance. This pilot study will explore women's initial responses to MBT, the prevalence of adverse responses, and which women are at risk for adverse responses in a sample of participants with a history of trauma and varying levels of PTSD symptoms. Study participants will attend one virtual study visit via one-on-one videoconference with the PI, where they will complete self-report measures of stress and affect before and after one session of a MBT exercise. A subset of the sample will complete a semi-structured individual videoconference interview with the PI within two weeks following completion of the MBT exercise and quantitative measures.

NCT ID: NCT05112003 Completed - Clinical trials for Post-traumatic Stress Disorder

Translingual Neurostimulation for the Virtual Treatment of Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder: A Feasibility Pilot

Start date: September 22, 2021
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

A growing body of evidence suggests that translingual neurostimulation (TLNS) plays a role in modulating neuroplastic changes in the brain, which has far-reaching implications for its ability to facilitate other therapeutic interventions such as cognitive processing therapy (CPT) for post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). The present study aims to assess the feasibility of combining TLNS with CPT in individuals with PTSD.

NCT ID: NCT05103657 Completed - Clinical trials for Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder

A Study to Test Whether Taking BI 1358894 for 8 Weeks Helps Adults With Post-traumatic Stress Disorder

Start date: December 7, 2021
Phase: Phase 2
Study type: Interventional

This study is open to people aged 18 to 65 who have post-traumatic stress disorder. The purpose of this study is to find out whether a medicine called BI 1358894 improves symptoms in people with post-traumatic stress disorder. Participants are put into 2 groups randomly, which means by chance. Participants take BI 1358894 or placebo as tablets every day for 2 months. Placebo tablets look like BI 1358894 tablets but do not contain any medicine. Participants are in the study for about 3 months. During this time, they visit the study site about 8 times and get about 4 phone calls from the trial staff. During the study, participants answer questions in interviews and complete questionnaires so the doctors can check whether their symptoms change. The doctors also regularly check participants' health and take note of any unwanted effects.
