Filter by:This study will compare the effectiveness of combined parental stimulant medication and behavioral parent training (BPT) versus BPT alone on child ADHD-related impairment (primary outcome), child ADHD and externalizing symptoms, time to child stimulant prescription (secondary child outcomes) and parental ADHD impairment, parental ADHD symptoms, parenting, and BPT engagement (parental outcomes/target mechanisms). This study will also assess the care delivery context and develop an implementation approach for treatment of families with a parent with ADHD and a child with elevated ADHD symptoms via telehealth in primary care sites providing pediatric care.
This research project is a small-scale randomized controlled trial (RCT) of an innovative program based in New York City called Room to Grow (RtG). Room to Grow's mission is to enrich the lives of babies born into poverty throughout their critical first three years of development. The research-informed program model combines tailored, one-on-one sessions with an expert clinical social worker in-person every three months plus ongoing communication (via phone and email), provision of essential baby items, and connections to vital community resources. The goal of Room to Grow's innovative program is to help parents increase the probability that their children will enter school ready to learn and continue on to meet their full potential in education, work, and citizenship. The therapeutic, psychodynamic approach and robust three-year long relationship with families is designed to act as the catalyst for sustainable, long-term change in parenting methods and family system stability. Critically, and in contrast to other programs aimed at improving parenting and child development, Room to Grow believes that providing concrete material assistance enhances the effectiveness of counseling and referrals to low-income families by reducing economic stress and freeing up scarce resources.
The overall goal of this study is to develop, adapt and evaluate an intergenerational prevention intervention, named "Wakȟáŋyeža (Little Holy One)," with Native American caregivers on a Northern Plains reservation and the caregivers' 2-to-5-year-old children. The intervention aims to: 1) reduce symptoms of historical trauma and everyday stress among parents/caregivers, 2) improve parenting, and 3) improve children's emotional and behavioral developmental outcomes to reduce future risk for suicide and substance use.

The incidence of childhood obesity in the United States has steadily increased over the past 30 years but has begun to level off in recent years. Epidemiological evidence indicates that obesity may transmitted across multiple generations. The current study seeks to: 1) evaluate the extent to which grandmothers or other important caregivers affect their mothers' parenting surrounding feeding their child, and 2) examine whether an intervention aimed at improving diet quality and enhancing responsive feeding to improves parental responsivity and feeding behavior and infants' weight trajectories over time.

The purpose of the present study is to conduct a pilot randomized clinical trial (RCT) of an 8-10 session DBT-based parenting intervention (DBT PI) plus standard Dialectical Behavior Therapy delivered in the context of an intensive outpatient program (DBT IOP) to DBT IOP alone. The long term goal of the research is to determine if augmenting standard DBT with additional parenting intervention improves youth treatment response on suicide-related outcomes (i.e., suicidal ideation, non-suicidal self-injury and suicide attempts). The goal of this pilot RCT is to collect preliminary data needed for a larger RCT, including feasibility, acceptability, safety, tolerability, engagement of the presumed mechanism of change (changes in parent emotions and behaviors) and signal detection of any changes in youth suicide-related outcomes.
This cluster randomised trial aims to establish the effectiveness of an online intervention designed to improve the ability of parents to 'mentalise' - in other words to understand their own mental states and that of others including their partners and young children. Effects on maternal mental state, the quality of parent-child interaction and child language, social and emotional development will be assessed.
The aim of this study was to determine the effects of Meleis 'Transition Theory based health improvement monitoring program on infants' development, maternal attachment and parental self-efficacy in 36-40 weeks of gestation and in the first and fourth months after birth. Sample was 64 (experimental group:32; control group: 32), alfa=0,05 and power=0.80 at the end of study. The experimental group received nursing interventions based on Meleis' Transition Theory, while the control group received routine primary health care. Data were collected 3 times: pretest, 3 and 7 months after intervention (for experimental group) and 3 and 7 months after pretest (for control group).
