NCT ID: NCT02810171 Completed - Anxiety Clinical Trials

Dimensional Brain Behavior Predictors of CBT Outcomes in Pediatric Anxiety

Anxiety-CBT
Start date: December 2016
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

Anxiety is among the most prevalent, costly and disabling illnesses and tends emerge early in childhood. Cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) is the first-line treatment for early life anxiety, but as many as 40% of young patients who receive CBT fail to get better. The proposed study will examine brain changes marking positive response to CBT for anxiety and how these changes may differ in children compared adolescents. By helping us to understand how CBT works, this study will pave the way for new treatments to stop anxiety early.

NCT ID: NCT02756507 Completed - Clinical trials for Generalized Anxiety Disorder

Transdiagnostic REBT Prevention Program for Adolescents

Start date: June 2016
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

Anxiety and depressive disorders are common in adolescents, however they are often unrecognized. Rational emotive behavioral therapy (REBT), a form of cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) is efficient for children and adolescents. School settings are appropriate environments to deliver such interventions for vulnerable youths. Given youth's access and predilection to use technology, a video-based prevention program was developed. The present study aims to investigate the efficacy of a transdiagnostic REBT prevention program for internalizing symptoms in adolescents, implemented in a school setting. Classes from different Romanian public schools will be randomized in either intervention or wait list group.

NCT ID: NCT02678624 Completed - Panic Disorder Clinical Trials

Project Collabri for Treatment of Anxiety

Start date: November 2014
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

The purpose of this study is to determine whether treatment of patients with anxiety according to the Collabri Model is more effective in reducing symptoms compared to treatment as usual (TAU)

NCT ID: NCT02615119 Completed - Clinical trials for Major Depressive Disorder

Neural Basis of Meal Related Interoceptive Dysfunction in Anorexia Nervosa

Start date: October 1, 2015
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

This study aims to identify the brain regions responsible for encoding cardiorespiratory 'interoceptive' sensations and determine whether they are dysfunctional in individuals affected by eating disorders, anxiety, depression, or brain injury. By evaluating the same interoceptive sensations across different human illnesses, the investigators hope to provide convergent evidence resulting in identification of core underlying neural processes, and to discern relative contributions in each condition.

NCT ID: NCT02605668 Completed - Panic Disorder Clinical Trials

Providing Tools for Effective Care and Treatment of Anxiety Disorders

PROTECT-AD
Start date: December 12, 2015
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

PROTECT-AD is a cognitive behavioral treatment study involving highly qualified psychotherapeutic centers at seven German universities. It is our goal to further investigate and optimize existing effective treatments of anxiety disorders. In order to achieve this, the investigators want to investigate the effect of extinction learning in an "intensified" psychological intervention on treatment outcome in adults and children with anxiety disorders. The intensified psychological intervention is characterized by a higher number of exposure trials over a short time period. In the control condition the exposure trials take place in a weekly interval, analog to standard care.

NCT ID: NCT02593682 Completed - Panic Disorder Clinical Trials

The Role of Orexin in Human Panic Disorder

Start date: May 2016
Phase: Phase 4
Study type: Interventional

The purpose of this study is to provide some information (pilot data) about whether the study drug, suvorexant, (1) affects levels of orexin in people with panic disorder, and (2) is associated with decreased panic symptoms in response to a carbon dioxide (CO2) challenge.

NCT ID: NCT02402322 Completed - Panic Disorder Clinical Trials

Internet-based Self-help Treatment for Panic Disorder: Two Ways of Complementary Psychological Support

Start date: August 2013
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

The aim of this study was to compare two ways of administrating the complementary psychological support (scheduled vs. non-scheduled) in an online self-help program for panic disorder. In order to do so, the investigators studied: a) If there were differences in the intensity and frequency of the symptoms of panic disorder. b) If there were differences in the therapeutic adherence between the subjects receiving both kinds of complementary support. c) If the more time spent by a psychologist in therapeutic interventions produced the best results of therapeutic adherence / symptom improvement. Seventy seven subjects followed the online self-help program for 8 weeks; 27 subjects had the support of a therapist via phone when they required it, 25 subjects had the support of a therapist weekly and 25 subjects were in the waiting list as a control group.

NCT ID: NCT02395510 Completed - Panic Disorder Clinical Trials

A 10-Week, Open-Label, Flexible Dose Adaptive Study Evaluating the Efficacy of Vortioxetine in Subjects With Panic Disorder

Start date: May 2015
Phase: Phase 4
Study type: Interventional

The primary aim of this study is to evaluate the efficacy of Vortioxetine in an adult population with a diagnosis of PD. PD is generally treated with benzodiazepines which are very effective but have a high risk for addiction, fall, and cognitive impairment. There is still a need for better treatment for PD for longer term use. There are other drugs within the SSRI/SNRI class which have proven to be effective in treating patients with this diagnosis.

NCT ID: NCT02266693 Completed - Clinical trials for Major Depressive Disorder

Transdiagnostic iCBT for Depression and Anxiety

Start date: August 2014
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

This 8-week, pilot randomized, controlled trial to evaluate the benefits of transdiagnostic Internet-based CBT (iCBT) in young adults with MDD, SAD, PD or GAD. The investigators hypothesize that patients who receive iCBT will show significant improvement in anxiety symptoms and functioning, compared to a wait-list group. This pilot randomized controlled study will assess the efficacy of transdiagnostic iCBT in 60 young adults.

SMART
Start date: January 1, 2013
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

Background: There is need for more effectiveness studies concerning treatment of emotional symptom problems indicating anxiety and depression in adolescents. SMART is the only treatment manual for combined emotional disorders developed in Norwegian. Purpose: To find the best individualized treatment for adolescents with emotional difficulties by: Finding criteria for the selection of appropriate patients for treatment with cognitive-behavior therapy program SMART in an outpatient population (14-18 years). Finding predictors of completion of treatment program SMART. Examining the effects of treatment with the SMART program at 6 months follow-up. Design: A randomized controlled study in six outpatient clinics in the north of Norway. N= 160 referred adolescents (14-18 years) with score above 6 on the Emotional Problems scale of the Strength and Difficulties Questionnaire (SDQ). Two thirds are treated according to the SMART-manual immediately, while the waiting list control group is treated with SMART after six weeks. Hypothesis: The SMART treatment is an effective treatment for emotional symptom problems.
