NCT ID: NCT03547232 Recruiting - Acute Pancreatitis Clinical Trials

Rectal Indomethacin as Early Treatment for Acute Pancreatitis (INDOMAP Trial)

INDOMAP
Start date: June 1, 2024
Phase: Phase 4
Study type: Interventional

Acute pancreatitis (AP) is an inflammatory condition of the pancreas following the activated pancreatic enzymes induced by varied causes, with or without other organ(s) dysfunction. The production and release of inflammatory factors is generally considered as the key factor of pathogenesis. Non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) are the most commonly applied agents for inflammatory diseases. A series studies have proved that indomethacin can reduce the risk of post-endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography (ERCP), but high-quality evidence is still lacking in the field of effectiveness of NSAIDs to treat, rather than prevent, other types of AP. Majority of animal experiments showed that NSAIDs had protective effects for organ functions, but the results of several preliminary clinical studies were inconsistent. Randomized controlled trials are eagerly awaited to elucidate its effects on AP.

NCT ID: NCT03460769 Recruiting - Pancreatic Cancer Clinical Trials

Evaluation of a Mixed Meal Test for Diagnosis and Characterization and Type 3c Diabetes Mellitus Secondary to Pancreatic Cancer and Chronic Pancreatitis (DETECT)

Start date: November 1, 2017
Phase:
Study type: Observational

The Coordinating and Data Management Center (CDMC) at MD Anderson Cancer will be responsible for the coordination and data management for the Evaluation of a mixed meal test for Diagnosis and characterization of Type 3c diabetes mellitus secondary to pancreatic cancer and chronic pancreatitis (DETECT), which is part of the NIH U01 funded Consortium for the Study of Chronic Pancreatitis, Diabetes, and Pancreatic Cancer (CPDPC). Similar to all studies that will be coordinated and managed by the CDMC, no patient enrollment will occur at MDACC. All patient recruitment will occur at external sites that are a part of the CPDPC, which are listed in the appended DETECT protocol. The data management systems, auditing, and monitoring effort are supported by the CDMC.

NCT ID: NCT03434392 Recruiting - Chronic Pain Clinical Trials

QST Study: Predicting Treatment Response in Chronic Pancreatitis Using Quantitative Sensory Testing

Start date: October 24, 2017
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

Quantitative Sensory Testing (QST) is a novel investigative technique used in other pain conditions to evaluate patterns of chronic pain, and in this study will be used to elucidate pain patterns in patients with Chronic Pancreatitis (CP). QST uses a specific series of standardized stimulations to map the pain system. QST has the potential to change and improve the treatment paradigm for patients with CP and may eventually be able to predict response to invasive CP therapies.

NCT ID: NCT03400280 Recruiting - Pancreatic Cancer Clinical Trials

POstopeRative Standardization of Care: THe Implementation of Best Practice After Pancreatic Resection

PORSCH
Start date: January 8, 2018
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

This Nationwide stepped-wedge cluster randomized trial is designed to evaluate if the implementation of a best practice algorithm for postoperative care results in a decrease in incidence of major complications and death after pancreatic resection as compared to current practice.

NCT ID: NCT03334708 Recruiting - Pancreatic Cancer Clinical Trials

A Study of Blood Based Biomarkers for Pancreas Adenocarcinoma

Start date: October 30, 2017
Phase:
Study type: Observational

The purpose of this study is to develop a minimally invasive test to diagnose pancreatic cancer at early stages of disease and monitor response to treatment.

NCT ID: NCT03185806 Recruiting - Clinical trials for Severe Acute Pancreatitis

A Trial of Early Percutaneous Catheter Drainage of Sterile Pancreatic Fluid Collections in Severe Acute Pancreatitis

EPCDSAP
Start date: October 6, 2017
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

The acute peripancreatic fluid collections (AFPCs) is the most common complication in severe acute pancreatitis (SAP). There are controversies on optimal timing for drainage of APFCs in SAP. The early-stage percutaneous catheter drainage (PCD) of sterile peripancreatic fluid collections is questioned as a result of the major cause of secondary infection. The aim of the present randomized controlled trial is to compare the outcomes in terms of mortality, secondary infection of peripancreatic collections, organ failure, length of hospital/ICU stay and inflammatory biomarkers between the early-stage PCD of sterile AFPCs and conservative therapy.

NCT ID: NCT03081182 Recruiting - Pancreatitis Clinical Trials

Pediatric Longitudinal Cohort Study of Chronic Pancreatitis

Start date: March 16, 2017
Phase: N/A
Study type: Observational

The Coordinating and Data Management Center (CDMC) at MD Anderson Cancer will be responsible for the coordination and data management for the Pediatric Longitudinal Cohort Study of Chronic Pancreatitis (INSPPIRE 2), which is part of the NIH U01 funded Consortium for the Study of Chronic Pancreatitis, Diabetes, and Pancreatic Cancer (CPDPC). All patient recruitment will occur at external sites that are a part of the CPDPC. The data management systems, auditing, and monitoring effort are supported by the MD Anderson Cancer Center Clinical Research Support Center (CRSC).

NCT ID: NCT03058926 Recruiting - Diabetes Clinical Trials

Coordinating and Data Management Center for the Consortium for the Study of Chronic Pancreatitis, Diabetes, and Pancreatic Cancer

Start date: January 19, 2017
Phase:
Study type: Observational

The data management systems, auditing, and monitoring effort are supported by the MD Anderson Cancer Center Clinical Research Support Center (CRSC). The The Coordination and Data Management Center (CDMC) will provide high quality, efficient and consistent leadership and services in all aspects of data quality and assurance; data harmonization and management; while providing assistance to the projects in disseminating and interpreting those data. The CDMC PI will provide statistical (study design, analysis plans, data analysis, and interpretation), data management, and data monitoring/auditing (data quality assurance and harmonization) expertise for the proposed projects. The Cancer Center will have access to identifiable data from studies; analysis of this data will not be conducted under this protocol. Any future analysis conducted on data or specimens as part of CPDPC protocols will be conducted under a separate IRB approved data or lab protocol. The CDMC will leverage existing support, infrastructure, and resources from the Data Management and Coordinating Center for the Global Cancer Early Detection and the clinical expertise of the Division of Pathology/Lab Medicine at MDACC.

NCT ID: NCT03015467 Recruiting - Acute Pancreatitis Clinical Trials

Fecal Microbiota Transplantation (FMT) for Severe Acute Pancreatitis(SAP)

Start date: December 2016
Phase: Phase 1/Phase 2
Study type: Interventional

Severe acute pancreatitis is an acute and rapid progress of the digestive system disease. Most patients with severe pancreatitis associated with intestinal mucosal barrier dysfunction.Intestinal microflora,an important part of the intestinal mucosal barrier, play an important role in the development process in the course of severe acute pancreatitis. At this stage of the study that infection of pancreas and other organs is the leading cause of death in patients with severe acute pancreatitis, and the main pathogens from intestinal micro-organisms, but the intestinal flora changes did not be mentioned. Fecal Microbiota Transplantation that has been used for treatment of inflammatory bowel disease and Clostridium difficile infection may be a new technology for regulation of intestinal mucosal dysfunction and intestinal flora unbalance.
