Osteopenia is characterized by bone mineral density (BMD) being lower than normal but not reaching the osteoporosis threshold, poses a serious problem for women after menopause. Osteopenia is a precursor to osteoporosis that is associated with increased risk of fractures, morbidity, and mortality. Using strategies to improve or maintain bone density is important for preventing osteoporosis and its associated complications. The combination of collagen peptide (CP) with calcium and vitamin D supplementation may provide several ways to improve bone health. This study aims to provide preliminary evidence of the effectiveness of traditional medicine in improving bone health through the effectiveness of CP.

A Study on the Prevention and Treatment of GIOP With Eldecalcitol

The study will be a multi-center, randomized, open label, parallel trial conducted in rheumatoid arthritis patients treated with glucocorticoids. After signing the informed consent, all patients will be screened as per the inclusion and exclusion criteria. Estimated 314 eligible patients will be enrolled. The enrolled patients will be randomly assigned to either Eldecalcitol group or Alfacalcidol group in a 1:1 ratio and followed up for 12 months. On-site follow up visits will be conducted at Month 6 and 12 after enrollment. The study is designed to evaluate the efficacy and safety of Eldecalcitol in preventing glucocorticoid-induced bone loss in rheumatoid arthritis patients.

The Long-term Effect of Daily Jarlsberg Cheese Intake in Patient With Osteopenia

Aim: To estimate the effect of daily optimal efficacy dose (OED) of Jarlsberg cheese in patients with Osteopeni (OP). Study population: Post-menopausal women and men above 55 years of age in risk of Osteoporosis Treatment: Daily OED Jarlsberg cheese + vitamin D and Calcium tablets. Design: An open and one-armed observational study. Main variables: Bone Mineral Density (BMD), Bone turnover markers (BTMs), Osteocalcin and K2 vitameres. Study Procedure: Prior to inclusion in this study, all the patients have undergone 32 days of daily OED intake of Jarlsberg cheese + vitamin D and caicium tablets. Thid is the baseline of this observational study. The duration of this study is 12 months with clinical examination and bloodsampling after 6 and 12 months. Sample size: At least 16 patients will be included

Effectiveness of the Adherence for Exercise Rehabilitation in Older People (AERO) Program in People With Osteoporosis

The goal of this pilot study is to investigate the effect of an evidence-based adherence promoting intervention on exercise adherence of patients with osteoporosis. For this reason, a randomized controlled pilot trial with an intervention period of three months will be conducted. Question I: To which extent does an adherence-promoting intervention (AERO) have an effect on adherence to long-term exercise programs in patients with osteoporosis compared to conventional standard care with home-based exercise therapy? Objective II: Does the AERO Intervention influence fall risk factors such as functional lower extremity strength and fear of falling compared to conventional standard care plus home-based exercise therapy in patients with osteoporosis? Patients will be randomized to two groups: an intervention and a control group. Both groups will receive instructions for a home exercise program (HEP) during six physical therapy (PT) sessions. The intervention group will receive a HEP and additionally the so-called AERO (Adherence for Exercise Rehabilitation in Older people) intervention within 6 PT-Sessions. The AERO program is a feasible intervention for boosting the exercise adherence of older people. The AERO intervention is an evidence-based adherence promoting intervention approach to help patients adhere to an exercise program. The control group will receive six PT sessions as "standard care". In regular clinical practice in Germany "standard care" for people with osteoporosis include measures such as home exercise programs, mobilisations, soft tissue techniques, or training with gym equipment. This will be delivered based on each PT clinical reasoning with no additional motivation for adherence to the exercise program.

The Effect of Oral Semaglutide on Bone Turnover in Patients With T2D: a Randomized Placebo-controlled Clinical Trial

The hypothesis for this study is that oral Semaglutide, a GLP-1Ra, has a positive effect on the balance between build-up and degradation as well as the strength of the bones in men and women aged 50-85 years with type 2 diabetes and an increased risk of bone fractures. Treatment involves once daily oral GLP-1Ra semaglutide or matching placebo for 52 weeks. The effect will be measured by bone markers in blood samples, bone scans, bone tissue and bone marrow tests (bone marrow aspiration and biopsy), physical activity assessed by a questionnaire, and direct bone strength measured by microindentation at the start and end of the study.

Effects of OsteoStrong vs. Individually Adapted and Combined Training on Bone Health

The aim of this clinical trial is to investigate the effect of the OsteoStrong training method and the Individually Adapted and Combined Training on the bone health of older women with high fracture risk. Additionally, the aim is also to explore the participants' experiences of each training method. Participants will be randomised to either treatment arm A (OsteoStrong) or treatment arm B (Individually Adapted and Combined Training). Participants in both groups will train for nine months. Treatment arm A will train individually once a week and treatment arm B will train in a group twice a week. Both groups will have a training instructor who will supervise and give training instructions. Researchers will compare the groups to see the effects of the training methods on the participants' bone health among other outcome measures. The participants will be tested at baseline and post-intervention (9 months later).

Skeletal Effects of Type 1 Diabetes on Low-Trauma Fracture Risk

Patients with Type 1 Diabetes Mellitus (T1DM) have a higher risk of low-trauma (osteoporotic) fracture that is 7-12 times higher than non-diabetics. The bone density of people with Type 1 Diabetes is higher at the time of fracture than in non-diabetics. This suggests the presence of underlying bone tissue mechanical defects. The potential benefits to participants would be knowledge gained about their bone density and the results of laboratory tests. On a wider scale, there may be general benefits to society because the knowledge gained from this study may help better understand the effects of diabetes on bone health

Denosumab vs Zoledronate After Lumbar Fusion

The aim of the study was to compare denosumab and zoledronate efficacy in bone mass, bone turnover markers (BTMs), Visual Analogue Scale (VAS) for leg and back, EuroQol Five-Dimension (EQ-5D) scores, Quality of Life Questionnaire of the European Foundation for Osteoporosis-31 (QUALEFFO-31) scores, and Roland-Morris Disability Functioning Questionnaire (RMDQ) scores, secondary fracture, complications and adverse events after lumbar fusion.
