Background: Nursing education aims to provide students with knowledge and skills related to the profession and develop students in terms of personal characteristics such as clinical decision-making, problem-solving, and critical thinking. Innovative approaches and interactive learning strategies are needed during education periods to increase skills and personal development. Aim: The study aimed to investigate the effect of computer simulation and imagery learning techniques in psychomotor skills training of nursing students on self-confidence and anxiety in clinical decision-making and academic achievement. Design: It is an experimental study with a pretest-posttest design with two intervention groups. Setting: The study was conducted between December 2023 and January 2024 at the faculty of health sciences of a university in Turkey's central region.
The research will be conducted in a randomized control group experimental research design. The study aims to evaluate the effectiveness of the bystander intervention program developed for dating violence in nursing students. The Bystander Intervention Program will be developed after a literature review on the subject and taking into account previous evidence-based research. The population of the study will consist of Istanbul University-Cerrahpaşa Florence Nightingale Faculty of Nursing, Department of Nursing, Turkish Program 1st year students (N=130). In the sample size calculation, the data reported in similar studies in the literature were used (Rothman et al. 2018). The representativeness of the study was calculated as β=80%, α=0.05 (effect size: 0.6), and a total of 80 samples were calculated as a result of power analysis, 40 intervention, and 40 control groups. Participants will be assigned to the experimental or control group by computer-based simple randomization method. Data will be collected between September, 19 2024, and December 19, 2024. Data will be collected face-to-face using the Individual Information Form, Bystander Efficacy Scale, Intention to Help Scale-Short Version, Bystander Behavior Scale (For Friends), and Program Evaluation Form. The data obtained from the research will be evaluated with the SPSS package program.
Research; it will be carried out Kilis 7 Aralik University Yusuf Serefoglu Health Sciences Faculty, Department of Nursing. The training will take approximately 20 minutes in an empty classroom and will be planned when the students' classes finish. Thus, educational activities in the institution will not be disrupted. Participants will be asked to do the taught exercise in half an hour before going to sleep every evening during the research period (4 weeks). Training will begin when the determined number of samples is reached. The training will be terminated when the 4-week research period determined to see the effect of the application expires.
SUBJECT: The Effect of Virtual Reality Based Interactive Therapeutic Dementia Patient Education Program on the Levels of Knowledge, Attitudes and Empathy towards Dementia OBJECTİVE: The research was planned to determine the effect of virtual reality-based interactive therapeutic dementia patient education program on the knowledge, attitude and empathy levels of nursing undergraduate students. DESIGN: Pretest and posttest randomized controlled trial BACKGROUD:It is inevitable to strengthen and enrich nursing education with innovative teaching approaches in understanding the needs of individuals with dementia and informal caregivers and providing qualified nursing care for dementia, which is more difficult and intangible to understand compared to chronic diseases.From this point of view, it is expected that the virtual reality-based interactive therapeutic dementia patient education program to be implemented in this study will have positive ethics in the knowledge, attitude and empathy levels of nursing undergraduate students. METHODS: The research will be carried out between 16.10.2023 and 16.10.2024 with 50 second year nursing students from the faculty of nursing. Students will be divided into control and intervention groups of 25 people in the form of block randomization.Students in the intervention group will implement a virtual reality-based interactive therapeutic dementia patient education program.Students in the control group will not be given any program other than the routine education program.Both groups will be asked to fill simultaneously the dementia knowledge assessment scale, the dementia attitude scale, and the Jefferson empathy scale for nursing students before and after administration.Statistical analysis of the data will be made.
Determining the knowledge, attitudes and self-efficacy of nursing students in the field of sexual health care is important for the development and planning of nursing education and research. There is no Turkish tool in the literature that will enable a comprehensive assessment of nursing students' knowledge, attitudes and self-efficacy towards sexual health care. The aim of the study is to determine the validity and reliability of the Turkish version of the three scales (knowledge, attitude, self-efficacy) in the "Sexual Healthcare Questionnaire" for nursing students. This is a methodological study. These scales translated into Turkish language. Data will be collected in April 2023 through an online questionnaire from nursing students at a public university in Turkey. The test-retest will be performed again after 4 weeks. At least 310 participants from 2nd and 3rd year nursing students will be included in the study.
Nurses play an important role in providing sexual health care to individuals. In this study, sexual health education will be implemented in an innovative way by supporting the use of models in the process of sexual counseling of nursing students to patients. The PLISSIT model, which is most frequently used when providing sexual counseling services to patients, will be taught to nursing students and its effectiveness will be determined. In the literature, only one study was found regarding the use of the PLISSIT model in sexual health assessment, conducted with students. The research was planned as pretest-posttest comparative, randomised, with an experimental and a control group, and with repeated measurements, in order to determine the effect of sexual health education given to nursing students with the PLISSIT model on sexual health care knowledge, sexual health care attitudes and myths about sexual health. This research will be carried out between December 2023 and March 2024 with the participation of fourth-year students studying at Marmara University, Faculty of Health Sciences, Department of Nursing. Students who meet the inclusion criteria will be randomly assigned to experimental (n=45) and control (n=45) groups. The data of the research will be obtained using the "Student Information Form", "Knowledge of Sexual Healthcare Scale ", "Attitude to Sexual Healthcare Scale", "Sexual Myths Scale" and "Student Opinion Form on Sexual Health Education". Ethical permission and institutional permission were obtained. The research While routine training will be given to the control group during the training, the experimental group will be given sexual health training including 16 hours of PLISSIT model teaching by the researcher. The data of the research will be obtained before the training, immediately after the training and 3 months after the training, using a data collection form.
University life is a challenging period for many students. University students mostly leave their families and live in crowded environments such as home and home. Research shows that students have difficulty in adapting to university life and often experience emotional, academic, professional and economic problems. Peer mentoring is one of the methods of learning and developing life skills in meeting the needs of university students.The peer mentoring intervention, which is used effectively in nursing education, provides benefits to both mentor and menene; It provides the opportunity to grow and improve by improving positive interaction between peers.It can be said that peer mentoring has a significant effect on students in line with the literature information. In this study, it was planned to examine the impact of the peer mentoring program applied on the perceived stress and self -confidence in order to ensure that the first year students of the nursing students adapt to the university life and the profession and to gain the necessary skills to survive in this process.
The aim of the study is to determine the effect of peer education on stem cell donation in nursing students on their knowledge and attitudes towards being a stem cell donor. This study is a randomized-controlled experimental design study. The dependent variable of the study is the knowledge and attitudes of nursing students towards being a stem cell donor. The independent variable is peer education on stem cell donation. The research will be carried out with nursing students studying at the Nursing Department of a university located in Istanbul. The universe of the research will be all students (N= 320) studying in the Department of Nursing in the 2022-2023 academic year. The sample of the research will consist of our friends from the nursing department who volunteered to participate in the research. In the power analysis to calculate the sample size, the sample size of the study was calculated as at least 88 for each group, with an effect size of 0.50, a margin of error of 5%, and a power of 95%. However, it was aimed to reach 100 students for each group, in case the participants were withdrawn from the study during the research and education process and the sample size could not be reached. Introductory Information Form and Stem Cell Transplant Information Form will be used to collect data. The data in the research will be collected in two stages. In the first stage, peer educators will be trained and evaluated by our consultant, who is a project internal medicine nursing specialist. In the second stage, peer educators will train and evaluate peer students. After our students studying in the nursing department who meet the sampling criteria are informed about the study, informed consent forms will be signed by face-to-face interview. Peer students will be randomly assigned to the intervention (100 people) and control (100 people) groups according to the randomization list prepared in advance. Peer educators will train nursing students in the intervention group with the peer education model. No application will be made to the control group. Pre-test data will be obtained by applying the measurement tools to both groups at the beginning of the study. After the intervention group is trained, the Stem Cell Transplant Information Form will be filled in at the first follow-up at the 3rd month and at the second follow-up at the 6th month. The follow-up of the students in the control group will be done in a similar way. The results will be analyzed with the SPSS program. In the analysis of socio-demographic data, number, percentage, mean, median (median), standard deviation will be used. In the data showing normal distribution, Independent Samples T test will be used for comparisons between two groups, one of the parametric tests, and One Way ANOVA test will be used if there are 3 or more groups. For data that does not show normal distribution, the Mann-Whitney U test will be used for comparisons between two groups, one of the non-parametric tests, and the Kruskall Wallis test if there are 3 or more groups. As a result of this study, the effect of peer education and training on the stem cell donation knowledge levels of nursing students and their attitudes towards stem cell donation will be evaluated.
Abstract Objective: In this study, it is aimed to evaluate the effect of multimedia teaching materials on students' academic achievement and motivation in teaching nursing process course. Design: Randomized controlled trial. Settings: Public university. Participants: The research was carried out on first year nursing students (N=70). Methods: Data; were collected using the introductory features form, academic achievement evaluation (quiz) and Instructional Materials Motivation Questionnaire. Research data were collected using online questionnaires. The experimental group students were presented with the contents of the nursing process course, which was prepared with multimedia materials for two hours in seven weeks with distance education. The control group students were taught by distance education and traditional lectures for two hours in seven weeks.
