Background: Patients with liver cirrhosis rarely receive palliative care although the Danish Health Authorities and WHO recommend it. The lacking palliative intervention is probably owed to a physician culture focused on life-prolonging active treatment at any cost and unclarities, and misperceptions about palliative care, which is perceived by many as exclusively for cancer patients and something that marks the end of active treatment. Study aim: Measure the effect of palliative care on the patient burden, caregiver burden, and the utilization of healthcare services. Study design: Prospective multi-center intervention study with end of study at the patients' death. We will use a 3-faceted endpoint 1) Patient burden measured by change in Hospital Anxiety and Depression Scale, 2) caregiver burden by a change in Zarit Caregiver Burden Questionnaire, and 1) health care system burden as the difference in number, length, and indication for hospital admissions and need for outpatient services. Patients: We will prospectively include 200 patients with liver cirrhosis (approx. 50 from each of 4-5 sites: Esbjerg, Herlev, Hvidovre, Århus) who have 2 or more items checked on the Supportive and Palliative Care Indicators Tool. Control groups will be identified from two non-participating hospitals and matched regarding age, gender, number of comorbidities, and alcohol and caregiver status. Methods: The intervention will be advanced care planning with conversations and actions built around a standardized symptom identification tool (EORTC QLQ-C15-PAL). Advance care planning is the collaborative process between patients and health care professionals of planning future health care. The assignment of a contact nurse to each participant is a key part of the intervention. Results: We will measure patient and caregiver burden at inclusion, after 4-6 weeks, 4-6 months, and every 6 months until the patient dies. All use of health care services will be registered. The use of health care services during the terminal 2 years will be compared that of control patients.
The aim of this study is to determine the effect of the therapeutic touch applied to the sleep patterns of individuals aged 65-85 years with chronic diseases who are treated in the Neurology Intensive Care Unit of Ankara City Hospital, taking into account the circadian cycle.The type of the research is the experimental model with pre-test and post-test control group.Ankara City Hospital has included the research population in the last year. As in the whole world, there is an increase in the elderly population in the TRNC. However, no systematic care is provided for the registration and follow-up of elderly individuals. In this study, it is aimed to determine the health care needs of the elderly with a systematic method with the Omaha Classification System (OSS), which is used in the home care system in the world and in Turkey, and to examine the effectiveness of the nursing interventions applied according to the health care needs of the elderly people. With this method, it is thought that the continuity of monitoring and monitoring the health care needs of elderly individuals with a systematic approach will be ensured.
The Directed Imagery technique (YIT) is a set of stories that people create by first giving relaxation exercises and then visualizing the symbols given by the practitioner. Guided imagery is based on the understanding that the body and mind are interconnected and that the mind can affect the body. In directed imagery, the person's thoughts and imagination are focused and directed to a specific goal by the practitioner, usually through a sound recording. The directed imagery technique can be effective in solving problems such as pain, stress, fatigue, and anxiety in nursing care.
The present multicenter randomized study investigates whether the management of patients with parkinsonism by a nurse specialist (case-manager) can significantly improve patients' quality of life over 12 months, compared to control patients managed with the standard-of-care process. Participants will be evaluated with clinical scales testing quality of life, motor and non-motor symptoms, and the number of unscheduled hospital access throughout the course of the study.
The purpose of this research; The aim of this study is to measure the effect of the Persons With Disability Friendly Nursing Education Program developed based on the Story Theory on the empathic tendencies of senior nursing students towards persons with disability and their perceptions of competence of senior nursing students to care for persons with disability. In the research, a multi-stage evaluation design from mixed method research will be used. Focus group interviews will be conducted before and after the program in the qualitative dimension of the research, while the randomized controlled double-blind pretest-posttest control group experimental design will be used in the quantitative dimension. The data of the research will be collected in the Department of Nursing of the Faculty of Health Sciences of Ondokuz Mayis University in Samsun, Turkey.
Becoming a parent is a life-changing event that can be both gratifying and stressful. As a parent, one is responsible for another person, where there sometimes is a need for new information, knowledge, and advice to live up to the new requirements that a changing family situation requires. The objective of this study is to develop and evaluate a new digital channel in child health care for support of parents in child health care issues with particular focus on eHealth literacy and satisfaction with care. An intervention is planned to run over eight months and will be evaluated in an intervention- and control group (from another health care centre) at baseline, 4 months and at 8 months follow-up. Data includes interviews and questionnaires about parental stress and eHealth literacy as well as satisfaction with care. Data will be analysed with qualitative and statistical methods. Expected outcomes is reduced parental stress and increased satisfaction with child health care.
Before colonoscopy, the nursing staff need to educate the patient with posture coordination.However, it is difficult for some patients to understand the placement of the correct body position, which takes too much time to conduct repeated education, which wastes medical resources, reduces work efficiency, and even causes conflicts between doctors and patients.In this study, the colonoscopy position identification sheet with indicator function was designed to assist the position placement of patients. Preliminary experiments of small samples have achieved good clinical results. Now, multicenter, randomized controlled research is carried out to further verify the clinical application effect.
