NCT ID: NCT01182155 Completed - Lung Cancer Clinical Trials

Breath Analysis for Evaluation of Radiation Exposure in Lung Cancer Patients Treated With Radiation

Start date: August 2010
Phase: N/A
Study type: Observational

Patients treated with radiation therapy for lung tumors can experience inflammation after treatment. This study hopes to evaluate the use of breath analysis to evaluate changes in the composition of exhaled breath in patients undergoing radiotherapy. If changes can be detected, this may ultimately serve as biomarkers for identifying patients at highest risk for radiation-induced lung injury (radiation pneumonitis).

Phase: Phase 1/Phase 2
Study type: Interventional

The main purpose of this first human study with CC-223 is to assess the safety and action of a new class of experimental drug (dual mTOR inhibitors) in patients with advanced tumors unresponsive to standard therapies and to determine the appropriate dose and tumor type for later-stage clinical trials.

NCT ID: NCT01171924 Completed - Breast Cancer Clinical Trials

A Phase Ib Expansion Study Investigating the Safety, Efficacy, and Pharmacokinetics of Intravenous CUDC-101 in Subjects With Advanced Head and Neck, Gastric, Breast, Liver and Non-small Cell Lung Cancer Tumors

Start date: July 2010
Phase: Phase 1
Study type: Interventional

This is a phase Ib open label, expansion study of CUDC-101 in patients with advanced head and neck, gastric, breast, liver, and non-small cell lung cancer tumors. CUDC-101 is a multi-targeted agent designed to inhibit epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR), human epidermal growth factor receptor Type 2 (Her2) and histone deacetylase (HDAC). The study is designed to compare the safety and tolerability of CUDC-101 when administered at the maximum tolerated dose on either a 5 days/week schedule or a 3 days/week schedule.

NCT ID: NCT01171170 Completed - Clinical trials for Non Small Cell Lung Cancer

Paclitaxel-Carboplatin-Bevacizumab +/- Nitroglycerin in Metastatic Non-Squamous-Non-Small Cell Lung Cancer

NVALT12
Start date: January 2011
Phase: Phase 2
Study type: Interventional

This study is designed to assess the effects of adding nitroglycerin (NTG) patches, delivery 25 mg NTG per 24 h, to the standard first line treatment of metastatic non-squamous non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC), i.e. 4 cycles of carboplatin-paclitaxel-bevacizumab, followed by bevacizumab alone until disease progression. Tumor hypoxia is a common phenomenon in lung cancer; it is a known poor prognostic marker, related to treatment resistance. Pre-clinical studies have shown that nitric oxide (NO) donating drugs may decrease hypoxia related drug resistance. NTG is a NO donating drug. NTG increases tumor blood flow and thereby augments antitumor drug delivery to the tumor. A randomized phase II has shown an increase in the response rate from 42% to 72%, when NTG patches (25 mg/day, day -2 to +3) were added to vinorelbine/cisplatin in patients with advanced NSCLC. In addition, the time to progression increased from 185 to 327 days. The hypothesis of the present study is that adding NTG transdermal patches to bevacizumab containing chemotherapy improves progression free survival, response rate and overall survival in patients with metastatic non-squamous NSCLC.

NCT ID: NCT01168973 Completed - Clinical trials for Non-Small Cell Lung Cancer

The purpose of this trial is to assess how well the combination of pemetrexed with cisplatin can reduce tumor size.

NCT ID: NCT01159288 Completed - Clinical trials for Non Small Cell Lung Cancer

Trial of a Vaccination With Tumor Antigen-loaded Dendritic Cell-derived Exosomes

CSET 1437
Start date: May 19, 2010
Phase: Phase 2
Study type: Interventional

Lung cancer is the worldwide leading cause of cancer death. In France, with 28,000 new cases per year, lung cancer is the 4th in terms of incidence but remains the leading cause of cancer death. The 5-year survival of lung cancer, all stages and all types, is very low, estimated at 12% among men and 16% among women in France. In advanced unresectable non small cell lung cancer, standard treatment relies on platinum-based induction chemotherapy. The median progression-free survival (PFS) in patients responding or stabilized after 4 chemotherapy cycles ranges from 2 to 2.8 months. Gustave Roussy and Curie institutes have developed an immunotherapy involving metronomic cyclophosphamide (mCTX) followed by vaccinations with tumor antigen-loaded dendritic cell-derived exosomes (Dex). mCTX inhibits Treg functions restoring T and NK cell effector functions and Dex are able to activate the innate and adaptive immunity. Phase I trials showed the safety and feasibility of Dex vaccines but no induction of T cells could be monitored in patients. Since 2007, we validated a new process for isolation of second generation Dex with improved immune stimulatory capacities. We propose a maintenance immunotherapy in 47 advanced unresectable NSCLC patients responding or stabilized after induction chemotherapy with Dex-based treatment to improve PFS rate at 4 months in these patients.

NCT ID: NCT01156623 Completed - Clinical trials for Non-small Cell Lung Cancer

Endobronchial Ultrasound Guided Transbronchial Aspiration (EBUS-TBNA) in Non Small Cell Lung Cancer (NSCLC) in a Tuberculosis-endemic Country

Start date: June 2010
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

In lung cancer with enlarged or non-enlarged mediastinal lymph nodes, contrast-enhanced computed tomography (CT) and Positron emission tomography (PET) scan frequently show discrepancy in tuberculosis-endemic area. Endobronchial ultrasound guided transbronchial aspiration (EBUS-TBNA) with ability of real-time nodal sampling possibly improves the nodal diagnosis. The purpose of this study is to compare the accuracy of nodal diagnosis of contrast-enhanced CT and PET scan with and without EBUS-TBNA, this study will be performed.
