Filter by:The primary aim of this study is to evaluate the impact of introducing a new enteral tube feed on health and feeding related quality of life. Secondary aims are to assess ease of use, liking, compliance, gastrointestinal tolerance, nutrient intake, anthropometric changes and safety.
This study aims to investigate the accuracy and viability of transcutaneous laryngeal ultrasound (US) in detecting impairments of vocal fold movement in people with neurological disorders. The accuracy and viability of laryngeal US compared with reference standard fibreoptic nasendoscopic examination (FNE) will be evaluated. The study also includes measurements of clinician reliability in US image acquisition and interpretation, and assess the acceptability of US assessment to people with neurological disorders. Data will be used to assess the ability of US to detect other laryngeal pathology, and to calculate the sample size required for a validation study.
The device that is the subject of this investigation is a robotic assistance module for driving a semi-autonomous electric wheelchair. This module is designed to accessorize the electric wheelchair to improve the safety conditions when driving an electric wheelchair, which on the one hand reduces the accident rate of wheelchair and on the other hand and facilitates the access to the wheelchair to people who cannot claim it without the use of a safety device of this type. The robotic assistance module is programmed to detect positive and negative obstacles.
There is a significant disparity in access to physical activity programs for people with mobility impairments, which greatly impacts mobility, function and long-term wellbeing. This study will test an online, group-based intervention consisting of exercise and behaviour activation strategies targeting these and other outcomes. Importantly, this programming will be applied to patient groups across several clinical programs at Parkwood Institute.
The goal of this study is to translate and culturally adapt Rivermead Extended Activities of Daily Life into the Urdu language and to evaluate its reliability and validity in the Pakistani neurological rehabilitation population. Also assess its correlation with Memory and Concentration Test, The Barthel Index, and The index of French activities.
The impact of mechanical ventilation on intracranial perfusion is still not completely clarified. It is often assumed that raising airway pressure will invariably elevate the intracranial pressure, but this is not always the case. The effects of airway pressure on intracranial pressure can depend on several factors, and among others, an uncontrolled expiration and consequent lung collapse may have an influence on cerebral perfusion. This study will investigate the incidence and the consequences of an uncontrolled expiration and expiratory lung collapse in critically ill neurosurgical patients during controlled mechanical ventilation. Electrical impedance tomography measurements , oesophagus and gastric pressure, electrical activity of the diaphragm and intracranial pressure will be acquired in a synchronised manner during controlled mechanical ventilation. Moreover, airway opening pressure, expiratory flow limitation and recruitment/inflation ratio will be determined during controlled mechanical ventilation, on a daily bases until the patient recover his/her own spontaneous breathing.
This is a multicenter, open-label study to evaluate the efficacy and safety of a daily single oral dose of tasimelteon in treating sleep disturbances in pediatric and adult participants with ASD.
Quality of life is conceded by copious musculoskeletal and neurogenic conditions which are evaluated by manifold questionnaires. These questionnaires are obtainable in English and many other languages but in Pakistan, these cannot be applied due to differences in languages, lifestyles, culture, and activities of daily living (ADL's). In relation to the culture of Pakistan, there are many accomplishments such as offer prayers and other domestic obligation which cannot be executed appropriately if any Musculoskeletal and neurogenic disorders are existing. All these disorders can be assessed appropriately by questionnaires previously accessible but not in a single tool.
The aim of the study is to assess the efficacy of dry needling in stroke patients in combination with intensive neurological physiotherapy. together with intensive neurological physiotherapy treatment. Randomised and blinded experimental study control group where the sample recruited was 20 patients, who were randomly assigned to a control group. randomly assigned to a control group, where they received intensive treatment, or to an intervention group, where they received intervention group, where they received ultrasound-guided dry needling of the tibialis anterior and posterior muscles followed by an intensive followed by intensive neurological physiotherapy treatment.
The purpose of this study is to collect clinical data, biological specimens (e.g., blood, tumor, cerebrospinal fluid, urine sample, etc.), and digital health data from patients with tumors, cancer and/or neurological disorders in order to perform research studies that could advance patient care. By collecting these specimens, the investigators plan to create and maintain a biorepository to make data and specimens available to collaborating investigators performing research to discover predictive biomarkers, patterns of care, and personalized treatments that could directly improve the care of our patients through focused proof-of-concept clinical trials.
