Filter by:All consecutive patients with liver cirrhosis, with clinical and imaging features suggestive of Hepatocellular Carcinoma (HCC) attending the Department of Hepatology, Institute of Liver and Biliary Sciences (ILBS) from February 2017 to December 2018 will be evaluated for inclusion.Based on the previous years data of HCC patients admitted to ILBS. Cirrhotic patients aged 18-70 years, with HCC proven by typical radiological features of arterial enhancement and delayed wash-out, on one or both of dynamic Computerized Tomographic or dynamic Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI), as per updated American Association for the Study of Liver Disease (AASLD) guidelines (details in appendix1). Age and gender matched patients with cirrhosis, but without HCC, seen during the same study period will serve as controls. Patient characteristics, etiology of cirrhosis, and liver function parameters will be noted. Investigator will stage the included patients as per the Barcelona Cancer of Liver Cancer (BCLC) criteria (details in appendix1). Investigator will then estimate Circulating Tumor Cells (CTC) and cfDNA in peripheral blood samples of the patients and controls.
The purpose of this study is to identify circulating tumor cells in patients with solid tumors. Quantify and characterize these cells, collect patient information in regards to the patient's cancer. Develop a database and a sample repository where future analysis could be done.
Evaluating the application value of a new circulating tumor cell detection method for advanced gastric cancer patients in prediction of the prognosis and early evaluation of the result of postoperation adjuvant chemotherapy.
This study compares the biological activity of cabazitaxel (6 cycles) to that of docetaxel (6 cycles) in metastatic castrate-resistant prostate cancer (mCRPC) patients with docetaxel resistant mCRPC defined as ≥5 circulating tumor cells (CTCs) / 7.5 mL after 2 cycles of docetaxel. Patients with docetaxel resistant metastatic castration-resistant prostate cancer (mCRPC) based on circulating tumor cell (CTC) enumeration (patients with ≥5 CTCs / 7.5 mL before docetaxel chemotherapy and after 2 cycles of docetaxel) will receive either 6 additional cycles of docetaxel or 6 additional cycles of cabazitaxel after randomisation. A cohort of patients with docetaxel sensitive metastatic castration-resistant prostate cancer (mCRPC) based on circulating tumor cell (CTC) enumeration (patients ≥5 CTCs / 7.5 mL before docetaxel chemotherapy and <5 CTCs / 7.5 mL after 2 cycles of docetaxel) will receive 6 additional cycles of docetaxel.
As prostate cancer progresses into castration-resistant stage from initial hormone-sensitive status, the biological behavior of tumor cells that dissociated from primary lesions changed. Considered a "liquid biopsy," these circulating tumor cells (CTCs) can show how a patient's cancer responded to treatments. The purpose of this study is to determine whether sequentially analyzing the expression of molecular markers in high volume circulating tumor cells in metastatic castration-resistant prostate cancer patients can predict the therapeutic effects and outcomes of these patients.
Detection rate and isolation yield of CTC is low in squamous cell carcinoma of head and neck (SCCHN) with in vitro approaches rely on limited sample volumes. In this study, we applied a new method, the CellCollector, which could capture CTC in vivo from peripheral blood.
The purpose of this study is to look at the amount of cancer cells in the blood of participants who are being treated with denosumab. The other purpose is to look at how long it takes for cancer to get worse when participants are being treated with denosumab. Circulating tumor cells (CTCs) in the blood of patients with metastatic breast cancer (MBC) have been associated with shorter survival than when CTCs are absent, especially in patients whose cancer has spread to their bones. In this study, we want it see if denosumab (the study drug) will decrease the number of CTCs measured in patients with MBC and cancer that has spread to their bones. We also plan to get blood from participants to study other research markers of interest.
After failure on docetaxel, which has been the standard first line therapy for patients with metastatic castration-resistant prostate cancer (mCRPC), several treatment options are currently available. In retrospective studies, resistance has been described to two of the treatment options, enzalutamide and abiraterone, when a splice variant of the Androgen Receptor (AR-V7) is present on circulating tumor cells (CTCs). The investigators hypothesize that patients with AR-V7 positive CTCs do have a meaningful response to cabazitaxel.
The proposal aims at determining whether liquid biopsy approaches are valid in the diagnosis of pancreatic cancer. Step1 will test 3 CTC isolation methods and analyse by flow cytometry the presence of onco-exosomes in the culture media of pancreatic cell lines. Step 2 will examine the diagnostic accuracy of these blood tumor elements for the diagnosis of cancer of patients with PDAC suspicion or recent diagnosis and their value for disease monitoring.
Despite the growing public awareness and recent progress in multimodality therapy to the colorectal cancer (CRC), CRC still ranks high on the list of the most common and deadly cancers in Taiwan. The cause of CRC mortality is due mainly to the occurrence of distant metastasis. Several reports suggested that circulating tumor cells (CTCs) highly associated with metastasis suggesting that targeting CTCs may offer an unprecedented opportunity to prevent the development of metastasis. Early detection and characterization of CTCs is therefore important as a potential strategy to monitor the progression of CRC. The current proposal is focused on detecting CTCs from peripheral blood of CRC patients using Miselect R system. We will monitor the amount of CTCs and correlate with CRC progression and prognosis.
