The goal of this clinical study is to learn more about the safety and dosing of the study drug, magrolimab (Mag), in combination with anti-leukemia therapies in participants with acute myeloid leukemia (AML).
Background: NF1 is a genetic syndrome. Tumors appear early in life. Many people with NF1 develop PN. These tumors can become an aggressive cancer called MPNST. People with MPNST may benefit from treatment with a MEK inhibitor (MEKi). Researchers want to learn if there is an increased risk of MPNST formation from MEKi treatment in people with NF1. To do this, they will review data that has been collected in NIH NF1 studies. Objective: To describe the characteristics of people who have taken part in NF1 studies at NIH and to compare the risk of MPNST formation in those treated with MEKi or other PN-directed treatment. Eligibility: People with NF1 who were seen at NIH from Jan. 1, 1998, to Jan. 1, 2020. Design: Participants medical records will be reviewed. Participants who opted out of future use of their data will not be included. Demographic data, like sex, race, and date of birth, will be collected. Data about MEKi and non-MEKi treatments will be collected. Clinical data, such as surgery and treatment details, will be collected. The differences between all participants who were seen at NIH for any NF1 related study will be compared. Participants will be put into 4 groups: History of MEKi therapy Treatment with tumor directed therapy other than MEKi Treatment with both MEKi and non-MEKi tumor directed therapies No tumor directed medical therapy Participants with NF1 who were treated for PN with either a MEKi treatment or a non-MEKi treatment will also be compared. The study will last for 3 to 6 months.
Background: Advanced cancer may cause functional limitations, subsequently leading to decreased ability to perform and engage in everyday activities, such as self-care, household, leisure and civic life. In addition, people with advanced cancer need alleviation from the pain and sorrow following limited life expectancy wherefore they prefer to focus on everyday life function and activities, lightness and enjoyment. The overall aim of the Balance, Activity and quality of Life (BAL) project is to develop, test and evaluate effectiveness and process of a resource-oriented intervention which coordinates rehabilitation and palliative care to enhance quality of life (QoL), balance and enjoyment in everyday activities and functioning. The development of the intervention is guided by the British Medical Research Council's guidance (MRC). The present study consists of a resource-oriented intervention, which will be feasibility tested in the research clinic of REHPA, the Danish Knowledge Centre for Rehabilitation and Palliative Care. The study will inform the development of a resource-oriented program for people with advanced cancer. Material and Methods: A feasibility study designed as a one-armed, pre-post study with follow-up after five days and again after 6 and 12 weeks. The study will recruit 20-25 home-living adults (⩾18 years) with chronic or advanced cancer reporting needs in everyday life. Outcomes are quality of life, physical function and fatigue assessed using the European Organisation for Research and Treatment of Cancer Quality-of-Life Questionnaire Core 30 (EORTC QLQ C-30). Furthermore, balance in everyday activities will be assessed using the Occupational Balance Questionnaire 11 (OBQ-11). Besides outcomes, process data will also be collected regarding: 1) fidelity, 2) adherence, 3) dose and 4) reach and mechanisms of impact with attention to participant's experiences of and interactions with the intervention. These data will be collected using registration forms, questionnaires, participant-observations and focus-group interviews.
Dexmedetomidine is a highly selective alpha2-adrenergic receptor agonist with sedative, analgesic, anti-anxiety, and inhibitory sympathetic nerve excitation properties. It is commonly used in clinical anesthesia and intensive care.Radical gastrectomy for gastrointestinal malignant tumors is a common major operation in clinical practice, with long operation time, great trauma and strong stress response of patients. Dexmedetomidine is often used in general anesthesia during such operations, but its long-term use or large dose may produce certain side effects.Common side effects of dexmedetomidine include bradycardia and hypotension, etc. Previous studies have reported that dexmedetomidine can prolong QT interval and is at risk of causing tip torsion type ventricular tachycardia.Abnormal Potassium may affect myocardial repolarization and increase the risk of tip torsion ventricular tachycardia.The main purpose of this study was to observe the effects of long-term use of dexmedetomidine on perioperative internal environment such as electrolyte and rehabilitation indicators during radical general anesthesia for gastrointestinal malignancy, and the secondary purpose was to explore the optimal dose of dexmedetomidine for general anesthesia for patients undergoing radical general anesthesia for gastrointestinal malignancy.
Tumor asthenia is the most common symptom associated with cancer and its treatment. Although the estimated prevalence varies between 60-90%, and it is considered the longest-lasting symptom in cancer patients, having the greatest impact on quality of life parameters, it is a problem that is still undervalued in general by health professionals . It has been observed that individuals with this process find it difficult to normalize their daily life, either due to a deterioration in their clinical condition or due to a problem in the generalization of what they have learned during their hospital stay. That is why we plan to carry out a clinical trial, to evaluate the effect of a controlled patient follow-up program, and thus be able to address these difficulties in the most optimal way. A randomized clinical trial of two parallel groups will be carried out, belonging to the oncology service of the University Hospital of Salamanca. 44 participants with tumor asthenia, who are admitted at the time of inclusion, will be selected through a consecutive sampling. After the baseline evaluation, the participants will be randomized into two groups. The subjects of the experimental group will carry out a Functional Rehabilitation Program, with a duration of one month. The main variable will be the evaluation of the basic activities of daily life (Barthel scale). The secondary variables will be oriented to evaluate the change in tumor asthenia, attention and cognitive functions, parameters of quality of life, pain, functional capacity and body composition. The results of this study could be transferred to the clinic, incorporating them into care protocols for cancer patients with tumor asthenia.
This is an open-label, phase 1b/2, multicenter study designed to evaluate the efficacy, safety, tolerability, PK, and pharmacodynamics of etigilimab in combination with nivolumab in subjects with locally advanced or metastatic solid tumors. Subjects will be assigned to receive etigilimab (every 2 weeks) in combination with nivolumab (240 mg every 2 weeks).
This trial studies the impact of virtual reality experiences on anxiety before surgery and pain after surgery. The goal of this study is to examine how different virtual reality experiences may help reduce anxiety and improve pain control, which may help reduce the need for medications such as opioids.
The aim is to study the effect of a systematic approach to symptom identification and management with disease specific and clinically developed PRO (HM-PRO) with a 12 month follow up in outpatient care in patients with chronic hematological malignancy.
Aim of the study : To evaluate postoperative outcomes of all surgical approach for retrorectal tumors. Methods : From 2005 to 2020, all consecutive patients who underwent surgery for a retrorectal tumor in two referral tertiary center were prospectively collected. Considering our exlusion criterias, data from XX patients were analyzed. The cohort was separated into 2 groups according to tumor localization regarding the third sacral vertebra.
