View clinical trials related to Myofascial Pain Syndromes.
Filter by:The aim of the design is to investigate the value of percutaneous microelectrolysis (MEP) as an analgesic technique in myofascial trigger points. This research seeks to evaluate influence of cathode polar effects on the reduction of painful pressure (PPT) threshold and pain intensity (PI) in the myofascial trigger points (MTrPs) of upper trapezius muscle. An assessment with algometry and visual analog scale (VAS) will be made before applying the intervention. The study will evaluate changes in PPT and PI in a group exposed to percutaneous microelectrolysis (MEP) aplication compared to control group. Both groups will be provided with a baseline treatment of therapeutic ultrasound. Treatment will include three evaluation sessions. Subsequently, researchers will proceed to compare PPT and PI obtained from algometry test and VAS in each groups, and between groups, before and after the intervention. Changes obtained between sessions will be compared.
Fibromyalgia syndrome (FMS) is among the most difficult diseases that restrict physical functions of patients due to persistent aches, sleep problems, psychological problems and decrease the quality of life. The aim of this study was to investigate the efficacy of manual therapy (MT) in the treatment of FMS patients.
Participants with chronic orofacial pain caused by masticatory and neck muscles will be distributed in two groups, both followed with the same occlusal and self-care treatment. The experimental group will receive 5 sessions of physiotherapy applying a specific pressure on the trigger points while the control group will receive placebo through a simulation of the same technique. Orofacial perceived pain, pain pressure thresholds, catastrophizing, kinesiophobia, cervical disability, depression and anxiety will be evaluated at baseline, immediately after treatment and 3 months later.
Patients in the experimental group underwent a progressive resistance training program, performed twice a week for 12 weeks. The charge intensity was progressively increased from 40% to 80% of 1 repetition maximum. The following muscle groups were worked: trunk flexors and extensors, elbow flexors and extensors, knee flexors and extensors, hip abductors and adductors and shoulder abductors. In addition to strength training, the experimental group also conducted a structured education program in one hour class once a week for five weeks. Patients in the control group performed the same education program.
Aim of this study is to investigate effectiveness of myofascial releasing on neck pain related to trigger points located on upper cervical region.
This study aims to examine whether the pain of fibromyalgia patients can be reduced with utilization of real-time pain monitoring system (PAAS). In this pilot study, adult fibromyalgia patients were randomly assigned to use or to not use PAAS. Changes in the visual analogue scale (VAS) were examined by rheumatologists at baseline and after three months, and correlations between conventional pain VAS or PAAS VAS and clinical parameters (patient global assessment, physician global assessment, fibromyalgia impact questionnaire) were investigated. We also examined if the utilization of PAAS can affect health related quality of life and depression.
In the literature, the relationship between fibromyalgia and disease activity has been assessed in a few studies without discrimination between women and men.In this study, it was aimed to evaluate the relationship between fibromyalgia and disease activity in women with Behçet's disease.
The objective of this protocol is to evaluate if Dextromethorphan (DXM) reduces Fibromyalgia (FM) pain. DXM is a drug found in several over-the-counter products, including cough suppressants. The drug may reduce FM pain by suppressing inflammation in the central nervous system. The investigators will be observing the effects of DXM on daily self-reported pain measures in people with FM. If DXM reduces FM pain, it will provide important information about the nature of FM pathophysiology.
The research is about fibromyalgia prevalency in working population and searching work-related fibromyalgia.
In various studies, the incidence of fibromyalgia in Behçet's patients is widely distributed. It was aimed to investigate the frequency and severity of fibromyalgia in Behcet disease in province Bursa.
