Filter by:The new approach in pain neuroscience education (PNE) requires specific training for the physiotherapists in charge of applying it. In recent years, public and private initiatives have offered training in different formats, online courses, face to face courses, congresses, that have facilitated access to this knowledge for many professionals. However, this offer lacks a sufficiently deep approach, so that physiotherapists do not develop the necessary skills to put it into practice, in addition to being an area of knowledge in which the concepts need constant updating given the rapid scientific progress. As with any paradigm shift, there is resistance to change on the part of some professionals, but the extent to which this has a collective impact on the generalization of these interventions is unknown. From our point of view, lack of training is only one of the aspects that hinder the implementation of PNE. Working conditions (pressure of care, high physiotherapist/population ratios, limited time available) and organizational conditions (dependence on hospital services, lack of vision of this model by the PC team) could be among the main daily difficulties in implementing it. The main objective of this study is to detect the barriers and facilitators that primary care physiotherapists have to implement programmes based on the new paradigm of pain neuroscience in the treatment of patients with chronic pain.
The goal of this clinical trial is to learn about resilience coaching in adolescents with chronic musculoskeletal pain. The main questions it aims to answer are to 1) determine how helpful resilience coaching is for teens with chronic musculoskeletal pain, 2) which participants are best suited for resilience coaching, and 3) barriers and facilitators to implementing resilience coaching as part of routine clinical care. Participants will complete survey measures and participate in the resilience coaching intervention called Promoting Resilience in Stress Management (PRISM). Researchers will compare youth in PRISM to those receiving usual care to determine whether PRISM leads to greater improvements in functional disability, psychological distress, and pain intensity than usual care alone.
The aim of this randomised controlled trial is to compare the effectiveness of two different telerehabilitation assessment methods in patients with chronic low back pain. The control group will receive a video exercise-based rehabilitation protocol with telerehabilitation. The intervention group will be followed up with the same protocol plus symptom monitoring software called PhysioAnalyst which provides visual feedback. The evaluation of outcome measures will be performed on the control group through the PhysioAnalist programme without visual feedback and on the intervention group through the PhysioAnalist programme with visual feedback.
The goal of this basic science study is to learn about the brain mechanisms of chronic pain across different chronic pain syndromes in pediatric patients. The main questions it aims to answer are: - Are there shared and distinct brain systems engaged by different forms of pediatric chronic pain? - What are predictors of recovery from chronic pain? - What brain systems are associated with the spread of pain? For this study participants will undergo: - Functional Magnetic Resonance Imaging (fMRI) - Quantitative Sensory Testing - Psychological Assessments
The overall aim of this study is to investigate how work with physical demands affects the physical capacity, work ability, labor market affiliation, pain and self-reported health in the oldest group of workers. Following research questions are to be answered: 1. How high physical work demands affects muscle strength in 55-70-year-old workers and how obesity in combination with high physical work exposure influences muscle strength, work ability, cardiac function, and self-reported health? 2. Which parameters are important for work ability and how does the exposure of high physical workload affect the work ability over time in 55-70-year-old workers? 3. By exploring the underlying mechanism of pain among 55+ year old workers, how is pain associated with work ability, BMI and physical capacity?
Purpose of the study:To investigate effect of whole-body stretching (WBS) exercise during lunch-break for reducing musculoskeletal pain and physical exertion among healthcare professionals
The goal of this clinical trial is to determine if a wearable back exosuit can make it safer and easier for workers who bend, lift, and lower objects in an industrial setting. Many studies have shown that wearable back exoskeletons or exosuits can provide helpful forces making a person's back muscles work less. It is believed that exosuits can lower a person's level of workplace effort and fatigue, making it less likely for them to have back pain at work. Back exosuits could be a solution to make a job easier, but how well they work in the real-world over a long period of time is unclear. The investigators want to know if workers who wear a back exosuit during the workday will have lower rates of lower back pain or injury than those who are not wearing a back exosuit. The investigators also want to know how well exosuit technology integrates into the workplace (for example, how this technology improves or hinders job performance). Participants will be randomized into an exosuit group or control group. Participants in the exosuit group will be given a back exosuit that they can use as much as they want at work. All participants will complete surveys monthly. Researchers will compare the exosuit group to the control group to see if using a back exosuit in a workplace can reduce a person's risk and impact of low back injury or pain. The investigators also want to see if a back exosuit impacts job productivity and if participants find the exosuit becomes useful or bothersome over time.
Objective: This study aimed to investigate the effects of regular exercising on scapular muscle endurance and shoulder pain in young individuals. Methods: Participants' clinical and sociodemographic properties recorded, scapular muscle endurance assessed with Scapular Muscular Endurance (SME) test, and shoulder pain severity questioned using the Visual Analogue Scale.
The goal of this project is to conduct an open-pilot (N=30) to evaluate the feasibility, acceptability, and fidelity of a mind-body and activity program (GetActive+) with older adults with chronic pain. The investigators will test for improvements in self-reported, performance-based (i.e., six-minute walk test), and objective (i.e., step-count) physical function, emotional function, as well as feasibility, acceptability and implementation markers. Participants will complete measures at baseline and post-intervention.
The goal of this observational study is to learn about spatial and temporal nociceptive filtering in adolescents with chronic overlapping pain conditions (COPCs). The main questions it aims to answer are: 1. If spatial and temporal filtering of nociceptive information is disrupted in youth with COPCs compared with youth with localized pain conditions and healthy controls. 2. If disrupted nociceptive processing at baseline is associated with the transition from a single localized pain condition to COPCs in youth. Participation includes: - quantitative sensory testing - blood draw - sleep assessment - questionnaires
