Motivational Interviewing Applied to Individuals With Diabetes

This study will be conducted using a randomized controlled trial design to evaluate the effect of online individual motivational interviewing on well-being, stress and difficulties in individuals with diabetes. The study will be conducted between March 2024 and March 2025 with individuals with Type 2 Diabetes who are followed up in Yozgat Bozok University Health Practice and Research Center Internal Medicine Polyclinic. The motivational interview group will receive a motivational interview once a week, lasting a maximum of 40 minutes, consisting of a total of four sessions. Chi-square (X2), t-test, repeated measures analysis of variance, Pearson correlation coefficient, partial eta-square and linear regression analysis will be used to evaluate the data.

Motivational Interviewing and Practice of Physical Activity in Patients With ALD

Since 2017, ALD patients can be prescribed Adapted Physical Activity (APA) on prescription. However, this possibility of prescription remains relatively unknown and little used by doctors, while the benefits of APA in particular in chronic diseases are well established and 30% of adults in France do not reach the recommendations of WHO on physical activity. These obstacles to prescription are well known thanks to studies on the subject (lack of information on Sport-Health networks, lack of training in APA prescription, poor financial support, lack of support for deliver to patients). To overcome this lack of implementation, the city of Amiens, via the Office des Sports d'Amiens Métropole (OSAM), has implemented since September 2022 tools to help prescribe APA: blocks pre- filled certificates of absence of contraindication and prescription of adapted physical activity. In other areas of health, such as breastfeeding, performing motivational interviewing has improved patient compliance. Patients with chronical disease consult a doctor from the Amiens metropolitan area recruited beforehand who informs them of the existence of the physical activity promotion program of Amiens Métropole. After obtaining their consent and establishing a certificate of no contraindication, the patients will be randomized by a random draw into two groups: motivational interviewing (ME) and control group (GT). Upon entry into the program, all patients will be seen for an assessment of their physical condition at the premises of Amiens Métropole by a teacher in adapted physical activity (APA) in order to be assessed and directed to a club or a approved associations. The EM group will also benefit from a motivational interview at 0 and 3 months by a doctor trained in the technique. The entire cohort will complete the SF12 (perception of quality of life) and IPAQ (current level of physical activity) questionnaires at 0 and 6 months during the usual appointments with the APA teacher.

The Impact of Motivational Interviews Conducted Through Tele-Nursing on Diabetes Management

The deterioration of glycemic control in adolescents with Type 1 diabetes (T1DM) is a genuine cause for concern. Possible reasons for worsening glycemic control in youth include lack of monitoring, inadequate self-care, psychosocial factors, lack of family support and parental supervision, non-adherence to treatment, pubertal increases in insulin resistance, and insufficient transition from pediatric to adult care. In adolescents with established T1DM who transition to adult-focused care, there is observed disengagement or complete detachment from care. Improving glycemic control during adolescence is a critical stage to enhance and reduce complications associated with T1DM. Adolescents with T1DM require appropriate daily insulin therapy, regular blood sugar monitoring, physical activity, healthy nutrition, education, and support to delay or prevent diabetes-related complications.This study aims to determine the impact of education and motivational interviews conducted through tele-nursing on the management of diabetes in adolescents with Type 1 diabetes.

The MotivAir Study to Improve CPAP Adherence in OSAS Patients

This study aims to evaluate the effectiveness of the MotivAir program an intervention based on Motivational Interviewing (MI) principles and techniques - in enhancing adherence to Continuous Positive Airway Pressure (CPAP) therapy among patients with Obstructive Sleep Apnea Syndrome (OSAS). Methods. A multicenter randomized controlled trial (RCT) design with random allocation at the level of the individual will be conducted to compare the impact of the experimental program (usual care plus MI) with a control group receiving usual care only in improving selected clinical and psychological parameters in the patients. A minimum sample of 80 participants (40 patients per group) will be recruited in each center according to the inclusion criteria. After the initial screening, participants will be randomly assigned to either the experimental group or the control condition. The program will last 180 days and will be delivered by a trained nurse. The impact of the MotivAir program on selected primary (adherence to CPAP in terms of average hours of usage per night and the Apnea-Hypopnea Index, AHI) and secondary (motivation, perceived competence, quality of life, sleepiness, as well as the emotional state, daily life activities, and quality of the social relationships of the person) outcomes will be measured at baseline, and after 1-, 3-, and 6-month from CPAP initiation
