The effective treatment of schizophrenia is very challenging due to a number of factors. These include issues such as poor engagement with treatment plans and care providers, limited contacts with providers due to under-resourced health services, and the challenges inherent to schizophrenia symptoms. The outcomes of these problems include frequent, lengthy, and costly hospital readmissions, low quality of life, high levels of distress, and difficulties engaging in valued community roles. Digital Health technologies are a promising model to help address these problems. They are a low cost and accessible form of support and have not been substantively developed or studied for people with schizophrenia spectrum illnesses. In this study, the feasibility of one such technology that is in development will be tested: App4Independence (A4i). A4i provides customized coping prompts, peer-peer networking, and a portal that facilitates better provider engagement. This research will provide critical information in the development of this new technology to address a key problem in the field - how to enhance care in a resource-limited context where provider-patient contacts are brief, infrequent, and rely on in the moment recall and self-advocacy by patients. These findings will lay the groundwork for a larger program of research and software development that will (i) validate the technology across multiple sites and, (ii) catalyze engagement with healthcare systems and caregiver networks to scale-out access to this promising resource.
This study evaluates the effectiveness of virtual reality (VR) therapy in the treatment of depression and anxiety symptoms in patients undergoing the pulmonary rehabilitation. The first study group will receive VR therapy (VR group) as an addition to the traditional pulmonary rehabilitation. The second group (active control group) will receive Schultz Autogenic Training as a standard supplement to the pulmonary treatment. The third group (control group) will undergo only the traditional pulmonary rehabilitation.

The study team will use components of the Reach, Effectiveness, Adoption, Implementation, Maintenance (RE-AIM) framework to compare Cognitive Adaptation Training (CAT) to Remotely delivered Cognitive Adaptation Training (R-CAT) 1-9 within a managed care organization (MCO), targeting members with serious mental illness (SMI) needing assistance with the regular taking of medication.
The present work aims to develop a randomized clinical trial with a sample of 100 patients diagnosed with anxiety and depression in primary care. All participants are tested by several self-reports related to emotional disorders in a repeated measures design, pre and post treatment. It is our aim this study will demonstrate that brief psychological treatments should be prioritized over pharmacological treatment in Primary Care. In addition, emotional regulation will be assessed and examined as a key factor in the clinical improvement.
Precision medicine is to achieve individual optimal health care, given the biological mechanisms, genetic variants, and environmental measurements. Take mood disorder (MD) as an example, we aim to develop systems and precision medicine in Taiwanese population. MD is a very serious and dysfunctional mental disorder. Since MD patients with treatment have high risk of neurocognitive impairment and metabolic disturbances, the therapeutic strategies are of clinical importance. Individual difference of treatment outcome in MD patients would result from genetic variants, environmental factors, and their interactions. Also, the treatment outcome of MD contains multiple dimensions, including improvement of disease severity, neurocognitive function, and optimized medication strategy. However, comprehensive development of approaches to investigate the multiple dimensions of treatment outcome in MD patients is limited. In this three-year proposal, we explore the interactions of genetic variants and environmental factors (represented by psychosocial stress and gut microbiota) driven approaches to develop precision medicine.

The sessions will be hold over a period of time of 6 weeks. Each subject of the reminiscence group will have two personalised virtual surroundings (after data being collected from team and/or families). The virtual environment will change every 3 weeks in order to avoid the phenomenon of habituation. The subjects of the control group will be exposed to two generic virtual settings (beach, mountain etc.) with a different virtual environment every 3 weeks. During the session, note will be taken on the subject's speech. The present pilot study with a multiple baseline experimental desing will verify the feasibility and clinical utility of the Unified Protocol, applied in an online group format in a mental health setting of the Spanish national health system to patients waiting for bariatric surgery with diagnosis or symptoms of Emotional Disorders
The current study examines the efficacy of a cognitive training intervention for improving emotion regulation in psychotic disorders. it is hypothesized that the cognitive training program will enhance prefrontal activation, leading to enhanced emotion regulation.
