NCT ID: NCT06346717 Recruiting - Mobile Application Clinical Trials

Mobile Application Based Care for Total Knee Prosthesis Patients

KneeMobilApp
Start date: March 27, 2024
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

Total knee prosthesis (TKP); It is a surgical treatment used in the management of functional limitations and severe pain occurring on the degenerated joint surface as a result of rheumatoid arthritis, osteoarthritis, posttraumatic arthritis and other nonspecific arthritis. Nursing care is of great importance in the success of TKP surgery. Reducing pain, preventing complications, increasing self-care ability, and improving the quality of life by improving postoperative knee functions are the main goals of postoperative nursing care. In order to achieve these goals, patients and their relatives need to receive training on home care in the post-operative period before discharge. With the increasing use of mobile technologies in daily life and the increasing adoption of e-health, the opportunity for people to improve their self-management skills through e-health is increasing. Mobile Health (m-Health) provides convenience in many areas such as educating the public, warning about potential diseases and disease risks, and communicating with messages, notifications and video when necessary. It also affects the way nursing services are delivered and provides great benefits in the delivery of nursing services. For all these reasons, it was aimed to examine the effect of mobile application-supported care given to patients with total knee prosthesis on functional status and self-care ability.

NCT ID: NCT06037603 Recruiting - Exercise Clinical Trials

Dual-Task Exercise for Mild Traumatic Brain Injury (mTBI)

Start date: March 6, 2024
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

The investigators previously developed a virtual 14-day dual-task walking exercise program and tested its feasibility with individuals with mild traumatic brain injury (mTBI) history. The investigators will test the feasibility and efficacy of a mobile app-version (Uplode) of the same 14-day exercise program (Brain & Walk Exercise Every Day [BraW-Day]), on cognition, sensorimotor, and other functions in a group of voluntary young adults with an mTBI between last three months to two years, including student athletes, Veterans, and ethnic minorities.

NCT ID: NCT05725330 Recruiting - Type 2 Diabetes Clinical Trials

The Effect of Gamification on Patients With Type 2 Diabetes

Start date: February 25, 2023
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

Diabetes is a broad-spectrum metabolic disorder that causes a defect in the organism's carbohydrate, fat, and protein metabolism processes due to insulin deficiency or impaired insulin effect. Diabetes requires continuous medical care and causes chronic, severe mortality and morbidity. More than 90% of all people with diabetes worldwide suffer from Type 2 DM. Diabetes self-management includes self-monitoring of blood glucose levels, knowing and managing the symptoms of hypoglycemia and hyperglycemia, adherence to diet, physical exercise, and diabetic foot care. Considering the high prevalent and undesirable consequences of diabetes in the world, it is necessary to benefit from new educational technologies and tools. One of these technologies is gamification, which increases the quality of education as an effective educational tool, creates motivation and enthusiasm, and develops a sense of competition in the target audience. This study plans to develop a game that will include virtual coaching to increase the self-management and glycemic control of patients with type 2 diabetes.

NCT ID: NCT05708456 Recruiting - Hypothyroidism Clinical Trials

The Effect of Mobile Application on Hypothyroid Patients

Start date: February 15, 2023
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

Hypothyroidism refers to the common pathological condition of thyroid hormone deficiency. The annual incidence of hypothyroidism is 3.5 per 1000 in women and 0.6 in per 1000 men. Hypothyroidism is seen 5-8 times more frequently in women than in men. Patients with hypothyroidism have a higher prevalence of cardiovascular risk factors and often have metabolic syndrome features such as hypertension, increased waist circumference, and dyslipidemia. Other signs and symptoms include bradycardia, slow speech, swelling in the eyes and face, weight gain, decreased sweating, hair loss, pallor, forgetfulness, decreased concentration, depression, irritability, tongue growth, loss of appetite, palpitations, decreased hearing, menstrual irregularities, muscle pains, and cramps. Depending on all these signs and symptoms, hypothyroidism can negatively affect the quality of life of individuals. Therefore, it is essential to reduce symptoms and to improve patients' abilities to manage them. It is stated that the appropriate use of mobile health applications helps the patient to make informed decisions about health management and treatment. Therefore, this study plans to investigate the effect of mobile technology on symptom management in individuals with hypothyroidism, whose symptoms range from mild to severe.

NCT ID: NCT05687968 Recruiting - Diabetes Mellitus Clinical Trials

Innovative Approaches in Diabetes Care

Start date: January 16, 2023
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

It is estimated that 2.3 million Taiwanese have diabetes and there is a 44% increased rate among young adults and adolescents. Poor dietary habits and sedentary lifestyle are the major risk factors for type 2 diabetes. The growing availability of smartphones has boosted the development of new technologies that incorporate the use of digital food photography as health promotion and individualized nutrition care. Digital health technology is also used to prevent and treat diabetes with good degree of successes in the short term but the long term effect remains unknown. The broad aim of this study is to evaluate the effectiveness of digital technology eHealth care for diabetic patients. A total of 300 diabetic patients will be recruited from Diabetes Shared Care Network and community care center in Taiwan and follow up 12 months. A simple randomization by computer system will be used to randomly allocate subjects into 2 groups: control group and eHealth care. The control group (n=100) of diabetic patients will receive conventional health and nutrition education from state registered dietitian. The eHealth care group (n=200) of diabetic patients will receive a 10 mins of food portion size nutrition education using " 3D/AR MetaFood platform" and is required to record their consume meal by food image once a week using Taiwan FoodAPP. Patients in the eHealth group will receive instant feedback from the nutritionists or artificial intelligence (AI) for the information of glycemic index (GI) and glycemic load (GL), and educational video related to healthy eating or how to select GI/GL food. Anthropometry, and baseline questionnaires will be collected at baseline. Blood biochemistry (e.g. HbA1c) and body weight will be collected at baseline, 3, 6, 9, and 12 months. The collected food image data will be used for AI training to identify the relationship between the patient's diet and blood glucose changes over time.
