Brain Health Support Program

CTU: BHSP
Start date: April 6, 2022
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

The Canadian Therapeutic Platform Trial for Multidomain Interventions to Prevent Dementia (CAN-THUMBS UP, or CTU) is a comprehensive and innovative program aimed to develop, implement and evaluate an interactive and compelling online educational Brain Health Support Program (BHSP) intervention, called Brain Health PRO (BHPro), with potential to positively influence dementia literacy, lifestyle risk factors, and scale-up to reach the broader Canadian public; enroll and retain a community-dwelling Platform Trial Cohort (PTC) of individuals at risk of dementia; and support an open platform trial to test a variety of multidomain interventions that might further benefit individuals at risk of dementia.

Short-term Automated Longitudinal Analysis of Speech and Language in Cognitive Impairment

Start date: January 1, 2019
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

Validate speech analysis AI models: - To contrast the accuracy of acceXible's platform as a screening tool in the detection of people with cognitive impairment and mild dementia. - To evaluate the correlation between automatically analyzed linguistic variables and a combination of standard measures of cognition. - To assess short-term variability in language ability among older adults, and to assess which aspects of language vary during the study period.

Multi-domain Online Therapeutic Investigation Of Neurocognition (MOTION)

MOTION
Start date: February 15, 2022
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

The purpose of this study is to compare the effects of three on-line wellness interventions for improving physical and cognitive function and brain connectivity in adults who are at least 55 years old and are experiencing symptoms of memory and/or cognitive difficulties.

NCT ID: NCT05204940 Active, not recruiting - Depression Clinical Trials

Longitudinal Observational Biomarker Study

OPT-Neuro
Start date: September 27, 2017
Phase:
Study type: Observational

The purpose of this study is to test whether treatment-resistant late life depression is associated with declines in memory and attention and brain structure and function.

NCT ID: NCT05175664 Active, not recruiting - Alzheimer Disease Clinical Trials

Novel Diagnostic and Disease Stage Biomarkers in AD

TRACK-AD
Start date: January 1, 2022
Phase:
Study type: Observational

This study will investigate the efficacy of novel biomarkers, namely blood-based biomarkers, pupillometry and actigraphy to track and predict progression of Alzheimer's disease (AD). Furthermore, the study will investigate the diagnostic value of pupillometry and actigraphy for AD.

NCT ID: NCT05064007 Active, not recruiting - Clinical trials for Mild Cognitive Impairment

Sound and Music for Mild Cognitive Impairment

Start date: February 1, 2022
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

Emerging studies in humans found that 40 Hz sound induces neural gamma oscillation and enhanced cognitive function in older adults with and without Alzheimer's Disease. We will compare a 40 Hz music intervention to both 40 Hz sound and music alone in a clinical cohort of older adults with mild cognitive impairment.

NCT ID: NCT05030948 Active, not recruiting - Clinical trials for Mild Cognitive Impairment

A Physical Activity Intervention to Promote Cognitive Health, Cardiovascular Health and Sleep in Older Latinos

Start date: August 27, 2021
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

This study is a randomized, single-blind, controlled trial that will test a multilevel intervention, Tiempo Juntos para la Salud, (Time Together for Health) designed to promote moderate-intensity physical activity; theoretically grounded mediators; and secondary outcomes of cardiovascular health, sleep and cognitive function. Participants will have 4 visits over a year long period. Data collection will occur at baseline, 3 months, 6 months, and 12 months among 216 Spanish language-dominant Latinos aged 55 and older with Mild Cognitive Impairment (MCI) [Montreal Cognitive Assessment (MoCA) score 23 to 26 for Latino populations].

A Trial to Evaluate the Effects of BCG in Adults With MCI and Mild-to-Moderate AD

Start date: March 25, 2022
Phase: Phase 2
Study type: Interventional

A study of the effects of Bacillus Calmette-Guérin (BCG) immunization on cerebrospinal fluid and blood-based biomarkers in older with mild cognitive impairment and mild-to-moderate to Alzheimer's disease.

NCT ID: NCT05002699 Active, not recruiting - Alzheimer Disease Clinical Trials

Investigating the Impact of Alzheimer's Disease Diagnostics in British Columbia

IMPACT-AD BC
Start date: February 1, 2019
Phase:
Study type: Observational

The 'Investigating the Impact of Alzheimer's Disease Diagnostics in British Columbia' (IMPACT-AD BC) study is an observational, longitudinal cohort study that will examine the impact of cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) testing for core Alzheimer's disease biomarkers on clinical decision making, diagnosis and health system utilization. In addition to data collection from physicians, the study will engage patients and their care partners in assessing the value of biomarker testing. IMPACT-AD BC investigators hypothesize that testing for CSF biomarkers of Alzheimer's disease in individuals with cognitive impairment, as part of routine clinical care, improves clinical management, diagnostic certainty, diagnostic accuracy, and healthcare resource utilization, and that patients and their care partners find the information valuable in planning for the future.

NCT ID: NCT04788238 Active, not recruiting - Clinical trials for Mild Cognitive Impairment

Dual-Task Zumba Gold for Improving the Cognition of Older Adults With MCI

Start date: March 29, 2021
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

The study aims to assess the preliminary efficacy of a Dual-Task Zumba Gold (DTZ) intervention that will support physical and cognitive training among community-dwelling persons with mild cognitive impairment (MCI). A 12-week Dual-Task Zumba Gold (DTZ) intervention will be implemented among 30 participants with MCI in the treatment group, while health education will be provided to another 30 subjects allocated in the control group. Changes in global cognitive function, together with the quality of life, mood, functional mobility, and bodily measures, will be re-assessed after the 12-week intervention and a 6-week follow-up period. Quantitative and qualitative methods will also be employed to assess the feasibility and acceptability outcomes of the study.
