The purpose of this study is to investigate if Zomig® Nasal Spray will help children (age 12-17 years) with migraine headaches feel better. This will be done by comparing 3 different doses of Zomig Nasal Spray with placebo nasal spray (inactive treatment).
This study involves a randomized controlled trial to test the efficacy of behavioral weight loss as a treatment for migraine in obese females aged 18 to 50 years. The purpose of this study is to evaluate blood levels of several proteins that may be altered in the inflammation associated with migraine headaches. These blood levels will be evaluated in individuals during an acute migraine attack and compared to their levels when pain free. The investigators study hypothesis is that the pro inflammatory proteins in the blood will be greater than the levels of these proteins when evaluated during a pain free period.
This is a multicenter study to test the hypothesis that telcagepant is superior to placebo in preventing perimenstrual migraines as measured by mean monthly headaches during the entire treatment period. This study will also evaluate the safety and tolerability of telcagepant for female migraine participants.
This protocol matches child subjects with peer mentors of similar age who have learned to function successfully with a chronic pain disorder. The trained mentors will present information to the subjects in a supervised and monitored interaction via telephone and computer for 2 months and encourage participation in skill-building programs. Children will be tested for improvement in pain and functioning at 2 months and again at 4 months to see if improvements persist. The investigators hypothesize that children who received peer mentor support will show more improvement in pain and functioning at 2 and 4 months into treatment than those in a control group who do not receive mentor support.
The aim of this study was to investigate the efficacy and tolerance of acupuncture treatment compared with pharmacologic treatment in patients with chronic migraines.Besides, the investigators tested whether the clinical effects of acupuncture in chronic migraine prophylaxis are mediated by changes of the plasma CGRP (Calcitonin gene-related peptide).
