NCT ID: NCT03552484 Completed - Clinical trials for Multiple System Atrophy

In-Home Care for Patients With PSP and Related Disorders

Start date: May 30, 2018
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

Progressive Supranuclear Palsy and related disorders (PRD) are debilitating, costly, and understudied conditions. Improving access to comprehensive, specialized, in-home patient care offers the potential to minimize the downward spiral of morbidity and preventable healthcare utilization. The aim of this study is to test whether and to what degree an interdisciplinary home visit program will improve patient- and caregiver-reported outcomes, and to identify unmet needs in this population.

NCT ID: NCT03550131 Completed - Alzheimer Disease Clinical Trials

Innovations in Dementia Empowerment and Action

IDEA
Start date: December 5, 2018
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

The lack of efficacious research-based interventions for such vulnerable older adults with Alzheimer's disease and related dementias (AD/RD) and their caregivers (CGs) is a significant public health problem. Caregiving of sexual/gender minority older adults with AD/RD is of concern due to social stigma, marginalization, and isolation, which may be barriers to sustaining caregiving. It is necessary and timely to translate evidence-based culturally adaptable interventions for this underserved and stigmatized population. Reducing Disability in Alzheimer's Disease (RDAD) has been evaluated in a randomized controlled trial and has shown to successfully train community-dwelling CR (care receiver)-CG dyads to increase the physical activity and functioning of individuals with AD/RD and their CGs and to teach CGs techniques for managing behavioral symptoms of CRs. RDAD consequently decreases stress of CGs, delays institutionalization of CRs, and increases health related quality of life (HRQOL) of CRs and CGs. Thus, this study will evaluate the effect of the standard RDAD among lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender (LGBT) CRs with AD/RD and their CGs, and this study will test a personalized intervention tailored to better respond to distinct risks experienced by CGs and LGBT CRs with AD/RD, addressing unique sexual/gender minority CG risk factors (e.g., identity management, stigma-related adverse or traumatic life events, and lack of social support).

NCT ID: NCT03538522 Completed - Alzheimer Disease Clinical Trials

A Double-Blind, Placebo-Controlled Safety and Efficacy Study of NA-831

Start date: September 15, 2018
Phase: Phase 2
Study type: Interventional

This study seeks to evaluate the efficacy and safety of NA-83 in subjects with mild cognitive impairment due to Alzheimer's Disease

NCT ID: NCT03508024 Completed - Lewy Body Disease Clinical Trials

Patients With Alzheimer's Disease or Related Youth Disease

PARMAAJJ
Start date: January 5, 2018
Phase:
Study type: Observational

This study aims to determine factors related to diagnosis delay for patients with young onset dementia (first symptoms before 60 years old) who live in North of France.

NCT ID: NCT03467152 Completed - Clinical trials for Dementia With Lewy Bodies

Study To Evaluate the Efficacy, Safety and Tolerability of E2027 (Hereinafter Referred to as Irsenontrine) in Participants With Dementia With Lewy Bodies

Start date: May 4, 2018
Phase: Phase 2
Study type: Interventional

This study will be conducted to compare Irsenontrine to placebo on the cognitive endpoint of Montreal Cognitive Assessment (MoCA) and the global clinical endpoint of Clinician's Interview Based Impression of Change Plus (CIBIC-Plus) Caregiver Input in participants with dementia with Lewy bodies after 12 weeks of treatment.

NCT ID: NCT03360019 Completed - Dementia, Vascular Clinical Trials

Accurate WiFi-Based Localization of Dementia Patients For Caregiver Support:

Start date: January 27, 2021
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

In this Phase II SBIR project we will enhance a wireless WiFi-based insole that was designed and successfully tested during a Phase I trial with elderly persons with dementia and their caregivers, and then investigate its efficacy in terms of caregiver activity, burden, and quality of life in Phase II. Evaluation will use semi-structured interviews and participant observation data collected from professional and family caregivers of patients with moderate or mild dementia.

NCT ID: NCT03305809 Completed - Lewy Body Dementia Clinical Trials

A Study of LY3154207 in Participants With Dementia Due to Lewy Body Dementia (LBD) Associated With Idiopathic Parkinson's Disease (PD) or Dementia With Lewy Bodies (DLB)

PRESENCE
Start date: November 9, 2017
Phase: Phase 2
Study type: Interventional

A randomized placebo-controlled trial to evaluate the safety and efficacy of three doses of study drug LY3154207 treated for 12 weeks in participants with mild-to-moderate dementia associated with LBD (PDD or DLB).

NCT ID: NCT03121950 Completed - Dementia Clinical Trials

Movement and Music Intervention for Individuals With Dementia

Start date: April 1, 2017
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

The goal of the study is to learn about how possible benefits of movement and music for individuals with dementia. Individuals with dementia will participate in a dance class. The study includes assessments of walking, balance and cognition.

NCT ID: NCT03076671 Completed - Parkinson Disease Clinical Trials

More Than a Movement Disorder: Applying Palliative Care to Parkinson's Disease

MTMD
Start date: March 1, 2017
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

This is a two-center (University of Colorado, University of California San Francisco) community-based comparative effectiveness study of outpatient palliative care for Parkinson's disease (PD) and related disorders (progressive supranuclear palsy (PSP), corticobasal degeneration (CBD), multiple systems atrophy (MSA), Lewy Body Dementia (LBD). In September 2018, the study was amended to also include Alzheimer's disease (AD) and related disorders (Frontotemporal Dementia (FTD), Primary Progressive Aphasia (PPA), Vascular Dementia). It will utilize a randomized stepped-wedge design to compare patient and caregiver outcomes between usual care in the community versus usual care augmented by palliative training and telemedicine support to provide other resources (e.g. social work).

NCT ID: NCT03011723 Completed - Dementia, Vascular Clinical Trials

Tailored Music Therapy for Dementia

Start date: January 2017
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

This study evaluates the effect and process of individualized music therapy for home-dwelling persons with mild to moderate dementia. The music therapy is administered individually and includes a close caregiver. Memory of familiar music is found to be retained in persons with dementia. It is assumed to facilitate autobiographical memories and stimulate interaction with significant others. Based on time series analyses we will use statistical process control to evaluate when and how change occur.
