Filter by:The effectiveness of various external applications (strapping and splinting) on grip strength, pain intensity, symptom level, and functional status in carpal tunnel syndrome (CTS) has been compared in this study. Comparative testing was conducted with exercise and mobilization applications (carpal bone mobilization, yoga, tendon and nerve gliding exercises, neurodynamic mobilization, instrument-assisted soft tissue massage, and standard soft tissue massage) in control groups, placebo groups, and groups undergoing other non-surgical treatments (orthotic application, steroid injections, and other physical agents). Criticisms regarding these studies include bias, lack of blinding, and small intergroup differences. In the literature, evidence supporting the beneficial effects of splinting and strapping applications on CTS is reported to be of low quality, emphasizing the need for higher-quality studies. In light of the information obtained, this study aims to compare the effects of different external applications (strapping and splinting) on grip strength, pain intensity, symptom level, and functional status in CTS.
The aim of the study is to compare the efficacy of kinesio taping treatment and knee orthosis treatment in Patellofemoral Pain Syndrome (PFAS). 54 patients were included in the study and the patients were divided into 3 groups as kinesio taping group (KTG) (n=18), orthotics group (OG) (n=18) and control group (CG) (n=18). A progressive exercise program was applied to all groups and patients were treated 2 days a week for 6 weeks.While kinesio taping was applied to KTG in each session, knee orthosis was given to OG and they were asked to use it for 6 weeks. Visual Analogue Scale (VAS), Kujala Score, Knee injury and Osteoarthritis Outcome Score (KOOS), isokinetic strength test (IST) and joint position sense (JPS) test were used in the evaluation.
Statement of the problem : Which is more effective for treatment of drooling in children with spastic cerebral palsy; kinesio taping or oromotor training? Null Hypothesis: There will be no difference between the effectiveness of kinesio taping and oromotor training on drooling in children with spastic cp.
Objective: It was aimed to evaluate the acute effect of Kinesiotape taping on pain, function, range of motion and grip strength parameters in patients with rheumatoid arthritis and hand involvement. Material and Methods: A total of 34 patients, 27 women and 7 men, diagnosed with RA according to the American Rheumatism Association (ACR) criteria were included in our study. All patients were divided into two groups as Kinesiotape and Control groups, each consisting of 17 patients. Subjective pain intensity was evaluated with the Visual Analog Scale, range of motion was evaluated with a goniometer, functional evaluation was evaluated with the Grip Skill Test, hand grip strength was evaluated with a dynamometer, and finger grip strength was evaluated with a pinchmeter. Evaluation parameters were evaluated before and 1 hour after the application, and the acute effect was examined. The patients in the kinesiotape group were taped with the mechanical correction method and the patients in the Control group were taped with tensionless gluing of the I tape. Applications were made on both dominant and nondominant hands.
