Renal Hypothermia During Partial Nephrectomy

The Objective is to determine if renal hypothermia during open partial nephrectomy results in improved post-operative renal function compared to warm ischemia. Primary Aim is to determine the effect of hypothermia on preservation of overall renal function compared to no hypothermia in patients who require hilar vessel clamping during open partial nephrectomy for a renal tumor. Hypothesis: Hypothermia will result in improved post-operative preservation of overall renal function. Secondary Aim is to determine the effect of hypothermia on preservation of affected renal function (kidney with the tumor) compared to no hypothermia in patients who require hilar vessel clamping during open partial nephrectomy for a renal tumor. Hypothesis: Hypothermia will result in improved post-operative preservation of affected renal function.

AMG 172 First in Human Study in Patients With Kidney Cancer

This is the first-in-human (Phase I) study of AMG 172, an antibody drug conjugate (ADC), in subjects with kidney cancer [Clear Cell Renal Cell Carcinoma (ccRCC)] who have relapsed or who have refractory disease following at least two prior therapies. The purpose of the study is to evaluate safety and pharmacokinetics (PK) of AMG 172, and also evaluate the objective response rate in patients with ccRCC receiving AMG 172. The study will be conducted in two Parts: Part 1 will explore doses of AMG 172 given every two weeks and every three weeks to determine the safety, tolerability and pharmacokinetics to establish a maximum tolerated dose (MTD), and Part 2 (dose expansion) will examine safety, tolerability, PK and overall response rate in subjects treated at the MTD established in Part 1 for either every two week or every three week dosing.

Sorafenib Tosylate and Hypoxia-Activated Prodrug TH-302 in Treating Patients With Advanced Kidney Cancer or Liver Cancer That Cannot Be Removed By Surgery

RATIONALE: Sorafenib tosylate may stop the growth of tumor cells by blocking some of the enzymes needed for cell growth by blocking blood flow to the tumor. Drugs used in chemotherapy, such as hypoxia-activated prodrug TH-302, work in different ways to stop the growth of tumor cells, either by killing the cells or by stopping them from dividing. Giving sorafenib tosylate together with hypoxia-activated prodrug TH-302 may kill more tumor cells. PURPOSE: This phase I/II trial studies the side effects and best dose of giving sorafenib tosylate together with hypoxia-activated prodrug TH-302 and to see how well they work in treating patients with advanced kidney cancer or liver cancer that cannot be removed by surgery.

Extracolonic Findings on Computed Tomography (CT) Colonography

The ACRIN 7151 trial will use medical records abstraction data from participants with extracolonic findings (ECFs) reported from the ACRIN 6664 National CT Colonography Trial to: 1) measure incidence of diagnostic imaging, hospitalization, and interventional procedures associated with ECFs reported on computed tomography colonography (CTC), delineated by type of ECF; 2) determine potential predictors of follow-up diagnostic imaging, hospitalization, and interventional procedures, delineated by type of ECF; and 3) evaluate the clinical/pathologic diagnoses associated with indeterminate but potentially significant ECFs. These data can be used to incorporate ECFs into existing models on the cost-effectiveness of CTC in colorectal cancer screening and can potentially be used to develop guidelines for the reporting and management of ECFs.
