Filter by:The overall objective is to develop the hardware systems and software algorithms necessary to make accurate measurements of the whole eye with optical coherence tomography (OCT). The research procedure that each subject will undergo is imaging with the OCT system. Three populations will be included: 1. Normals to ensure the imaging range of the system, 2. Patients with previous LASIK who will be undergoing cataract surgery, and 3. Patients with a history of cataract surgery or high myopia. The third group will also undergo MRI imaging for comparison. There are no known risks to the subject from imaging with optical coherence tomography beyond what is normal for standard ocular photographic procedures. Light exposure is below ANSI limits. In groups 2 and 3, clinical parameters drawn from the OCT images will be compared to standard of care imaging.
Motor imagery is the mental representation of movement without any body movement. According to recent studies motor imagery contains three strategies to mentally simulate the movements: internal visual, external visual and kinesthetic imagery. Motor imagery is associated with cortical reorganization and functional improvements and it does not only related with motor performance, it also influces cognitions. Movement Imagery Questionnaire-3 (MIQ-3) is the recent, modified version of the Movement Imagery Questionnaire-Revised, Second Edition and measures imagery ability in terms of ease of imagery. The aim of this study is to translate MIQ-3 into Turkish and evaluate its test-retest reliability for Turkish-speaking population.
Imagery is determined with two strategies to mentally simulate the movements: visual and kinesthetic imagery. Visual motor imagery (VMI) is associated with spatial coordinates of a movement in the environment and through this speciality VMI applies mainly to the imagery of moving objects or to movement of another person in the imagined environment, although imagine of own movement is also possible. Kinesthetic motor imagery depends on dynamic relationship among the individual, the movement and the environment and it should be determined by the nature of the task, the environment and individual characteristics and also requires "feel" the movement. The aim of this study is to translate this questionnaire into Turkish and the translation in terms of its internal consistency, test-retest reliability.
The Nor-Hand study is a hospital-based observational study including 300 patients with evidence of hand OA by ultrasound and/or clinical examination. The baseline examination (2016-17) consists of functional tests and joint assessment of the hands, medical assessment, pain sensitization tests, ultrasound (hands, acromioclavicular joint, hips, knees and feet), computer tomography (CT) and Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) of the dominant hand, conventional radiographs of the hands and feet, fluorescence optical imaging of the hands, collection of blood and urine samples as well as self-reported demographic factors and OA-related questionnaires. Two follow-up examinations are planned after 3 (2019-20) and 8 years (2024-25), respectively. Cross-sectional analyses will be used to investigate agreements and associations between different relevant measures at the baseline examination, whereas the longitudinal data will be used for evaluation of predictors for clinical outcomes and disease progression.
