Filter by:Using a focused implementation research framework, the EPIS (Exploration, Preparation, Implementation and Sustainment) model in a type-2 hybrid design, the study will be conducted in 3 phases: 1) A pre-implementation phase that will use the Exploration and Preparation domains of EPIS to: a) explore barriers and facilitators of Clean Fuel- Clean- Stove (CF-CS) use, and b) develop a culturally-tailored CM strategy for CF-CS use; 2) An Implementation phase that will use the Implementation domain of EPIS to compare in a cluster RCT of 32 peri-urban communities (640 households), the effect of CM vs. a self-directed condition (i.e. receipt of information on CF-CS use without CM) on adoption of CF-CS use; and systolic BP reduction; 3) A post-implementation phase that will use the Sustainment domain of EPIS to evaluate the effect of CM strategy vs. self-directed condition on sustainability of the CF-CS use in 640 households across the randomly assigned 32 peri-urban communities in Nigeria. The Lagos State University College of Medicine (LASUCOM) working with the MOH will oversee research coordination in Nigeria.
The investigator aims to assess the extent to which a brief exercise intervention improves systemic growth factor concentrations, reverses loss of systemic vascular networks and hypertension, and by extension, improves neurocognition. To test the investigator's hypothesis that increased cardiovascular fitness will correlate with improved vascular density, the investigator proposes the innovative use of retinal density scans.
This is a pilot study to determine the feasibility of the study design and examine the main outcome whether low dietary sodium intake is superior to high dietary sodium intake in controlling blood pressure to be within the normotensive range in living kidney donors.
The aim of this study is to use multiparametric MRI to investigate any differences in myocardial structure and function in patients with noncirrhotic portal hypertension compared with a control group with liver cirrhosis.
The aim of the study is to determine whether selenoprotein activity and blood renalase level correlate with subclinical hypertensive heart disease and obstructive sleep apnea. The correlation will be assessed using selected electrocardiographic, ultrasound and laboratory indicators.
The working hypothesis is that hypertension during the first post-transplant trimester is partly explained by the patient's hypervolemia. The main objective of the single-center observational study "HTA ô Connect" is to study the relationship between hypertension and extracellular hyperhydration, thanks to repeated self-measurements of blood pressure and impedancemetry between the 30th and the 90th day post-transplant, in 150 incident kidney transplant patients from our department, the ITUN (Institute of Urology-Nephrology Transplantation). The study population involves 150 incident kidney transplant patients, presenting to the Nantes University Hospital Transplant Institute for 1 month (D30), and presenting with hypertension ≥ 140/90mmHg and not treated with a diuretic. Data collected at the patients' homes will be used to establish a relationship between blood pressure and extracellular water volume. The data collected will not be used to follow up patients who participated in the study in this first stage of exploration.
Glaucoma is a chronic optic neuropathy whose main modifiable risk factor is an abnormally elevated intraocular pressure. The aim of glaucoma treatment is to slow the progression of the disease by reducing intraocular pressure. Prostaglandin derivatives are the most effective topical drugs in reducing intraocular pressure (IOP). Among these, latanoprost was the first agent of this type to be approved for use in patients with glaucoma or ocular hypertension. These eye drops are available with and without preservatives. There are two commercial brands in our environment, Xalatan®, which contains 0.005% latanoprost and 0.2 mg/ml benzalkonium chloride (BAK) and Monoprost®, which contains the same amount of latanoprost but does not carry a preservative. The prostaglandin analog with a lower concentration of active ingredient available in Spain without preservative is tafluprost 0.0015%, commercially available under the name Saflutan®. The long-term use of hypotensive eye drops with preservatives generates changes in the ocular surface, such as instability of the tear film, conjunctival inflammation, subconjunctival fibrosis, apoptosis of the conjunctival epithelium and deterioration of the corneal surface, causing symptoms such as stinging, tearing, sensation foreign body, photophobia and blurred vision. This research will evaluate the changes in the ocular surface and in the expression of inflammatory molecules that occur in the conjunctiva in patients with a diagnosis of glaucoma and ocular hypertension who are under ocular hypotensive treatment with tafluprost, comparing it with the two commercial preparations of latanoprost. These three groups of patients will have a control group of patients with a diagnosis of ocular hypertension who will not have any topical hypotensive medication.
Efficacy and Safety of s086 Tablets in the Treatment of Mild to Moderate Essential Hypertension:a Randomized,Double-blind,Placebo-controlled,Multicenter Phase II Clinical Trial
The Managing Hypertension Among People Living with HIV: An InTegrated Model (MAP-IT) a stepped wedge, cluster-randomized controlled trial to evaluate the effect of practice facilitation (PF) on the integration of a Task-Shifting Strategy for hypertension (HTN) control (TASSH) into HIV care for management of HTN in people living with HIV (PLWH). The study will recruit 960 PLWH across 30 primary health centers (PHCs) in Akwa Ibom State (32 patients/PHC).
Heart failure with preserved ejection fraction has a high mortality, which is contrasted by a total absence of therapy options besides symptomatic diuretic treatment. This study aims to explore the potential of renal denervation as a treatment option for heart failure with preserved ejection fraction.
