The Role of Intraoperative Navigation-assisted Channel Screw Technique in the Treatment of Pelvic Fractures

INCST
Start date: July 2022
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

This was a multicenter, prospective, randomized, controlled study. Patients with pelvic fractures (Tile B and c) were recruited from the First Affiliated Hospital of Xi'an Jiaotong University, Xi'an Red Society Hospital and Xi'an 521 hospital, the patients were randomly divided into two groups according to the Order of admission: Experimental Group (intraoperative navigation combined with channel screw technique) and Control Group (open reduction and plate internal fixation) , the difference of operative effect between the two groups was compared by fracture reduction, channel screw position, operative time, fluoroscopy frequency, hospitalization time, hospitalization cost, recovery time and Mayo Score. Use Access 2003 to build a database and store data; use SPSS 21.0. 0 Software for statistical analysis. The entire process required the development of a standardized staff manual, and all were subject to rigorous training and examination in order to participate in the pilot, and the investigation process was supervised by the project leader.

NCT ID: NCT05446181 Recruiting - Hip Fractures Clinical Trials

CLIC1 in Patients Presenting PD

Start date: June 27, 2022
Phase:
Study type: Observational

In this study, mononuclear cells, particularly monocytes, were collected from the peripheral blood of elderly patients who underwent orthopedic hip surgery under spinal anesthesia. We then observe the accumulation of chloride intracellular channel 1 (CLIC1), particularly the characteristic accumulation morphology and its function. The purpose of this study is to compare whether there is a difference in the degree and form of cytoplasmic CLIC1 accumulation between the elderly group with postoperative delirium (PD) and the elderly group without postoperative delirium. We'll also confirm whether this is appropriate as a predictor of postoperative delirium. In addition, we will establish a control group for the non-elderly group to check the difference due to aging itself.

NCT ID: NCT05444803 Completed - Analgesia Clinical Trials

Femoral Nerve Block vs Peri-capsular Nerve Group Block for Hip Fracture Analgesia

Start date: July 6, 2022
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

The purpose of the study is to compare the analgesic efficacy of femoral nerve block and peri-capsular nerve group block administered before spinal anesthesia for positioning to spinal anaesthesia in patients undergoing surgery for hip fracture and to evaluate the efficacy for postoperative analgesia

Effect of a Multicomponent Intervention on Functional Capacity After Hip Fracture

ActiveFLS
Start date: May 26, 2022
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

Due to the clinical, functional, cognitive and social complexity of older adults after fragility hip fractures (defined as those produced by low-impact trauma), the investigators propose an intervention. This intervention involves a multidisciplinary and multicomponent program consisting of physical exercise with tele-rehabilitation, nutritional assessment and other variables related to comprehensive geriatric assessment. The investigators want to improve functional status, quality of life and prevent new fractures. In addition, the investigators try to optimize treatments and resources based on the functional status of patients and their life expectancies, improving care and healthcare cost

Intravenous vs Oral Acetaminophen in Postoperative Hip Fracture Adult Patients

INTACT-HIP
Start date: November 4, 2022
Phase: Phase 4
Study type: Interventional

The INTACT-HIP trial study will evaluate feasibility of conducting a randomized, double-blinded controlled trial comparing postoperative treatment with intravenous (IV) acetaminophen versus oral acetaminophen, in older adults undergoing hip fracture surgery. The results of this feasibility trial will be used to inform designing a larger, multi-center, randomized controlled trial to assess the efficacy of IV acetaminophen compared to oral acetaminophen to reduce delirium and improve other clinical and patient-centered outcomes after hip fracture surgery. It will randomize 42 older adults to receive either oral or IV acetaminophen after hip fracture surgery.

NCT ID: NCT05419284 Completed - Stroke Clinical Trials

Feasibility of the Geriatric Activation Program Pellenberg With Caregiver Involvement

Start date: March 28, 2022
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

This interventional study aims to see if involving caregivers as exercise partners with the physiotherapist throughout in-hospital geriatric rehabilitation and the first six weeks following discharge is feasible. Caregivers will receive hands-on training from physiotherapists so that they can assist their family members with their exercises. The caregivers will provide 30-minute exercise sessions three times each week in addition to the standard physiotherapy. The researchers want to know how many people are eligible for GAPP+CARE and how willing they are to participate. The researchers also want to know about the program's hindering and facilitating elements, as well as its fidelity and retention rate. Apart from that, the researchers want to examine if an effectiveness study and the used outcome measures are viable.

Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

The main objective is to determine if ultrasound guided suprainguinal iliac fascia block leads in better clinical outcomes such as pain management or time to home discharge.

NCT ID: NCT05400148 Completed - Hip Fractures Clinical Trials

Dose and Concentration Relationship for PENG Block in Hip Surgery

Start date: November 1, 2022
Phase:
Study type: Observational

A number of peripheral nerve blocks are routinely performed in patients who will undergo orthopedic hip surgery for pain relief. Proximal extensor group nerve (PENG) block is one such field block which is used for this purpose and could be performed both before and after the operation. When used before surgery, PENG block is reported to be beneficial in alleviating pain during positioning for spinal anesthesia. Furthermore, some studies suggest a high volume block may increase the analgesic effect of the block. In this perspective, this study aims to observe the effects of different volumes of local anesthetic (bupivacaine) at the same dose used for PENG block in hip fracture positioning for spinal anesthesia. The investigator hypothesizes that a high volume (>20ml) PENG block will reduce pain during positioning compared to a low volume PENG block.

Iliopsoas Plane Block vs PENG Block for Hip Arthroplasty

Start date: May 31, 2022
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

Hip arthroplasty is one of the most common orthopedic procedures especially in elderly patients due to deformation of joints. Patients may complain of severe pain due to surgical trauma and prosthesis. Regional anesthesia methods may be performed to reduce opioid consumption and opioid-related side effects. The hip joint consists of the femoral head and the acetabulum. Sensory innervation of the hip joint is provided by the femoral nerve, obturator nerve, articular branches of the sciatic nerve, and superior gluteal nerve. Because of the increasing use of ultrasound (US) in anesthesia practice, US-guided nerve blocks are widely used. Pericapsular nerve group block (PENG block) is a novel fascial block defined by Arango et al. This block aims to block the femoral nerve and the accessory obturator nerve by injecting local anesthetic between the pubic ramus and the psoas tendon. The iliopsoas plane block (IPB) is a new block defined by Nielsen et al. It does not cause a motor block, but selectively blocks the sensory branches of the hip joint originating from the accessory obturator nerve and the femoral nerve. This prospective study compares the efficacy of PENG block and IPB for postoperative analgesia management in patients undergoing hip arthroplasty with a prosthesis.
