View clinical trials related to Hip Fractures.
Filter by:The aim of the study is to demonstrate the efficacy of PENG block as the main anesthetic technique to manage perioperative analgesia for hip fracture surgery compared to femoral and obturator nerve block in patients with contraindications to spinal anesthesia.
Some related factors of pelvic fracture and Morel-Lavallee injury (MLL) are preliminarily discussed, which provides some preliminary references for early clinical detection and research of such injuries.
Type of study: Observational study Goal of this : We conducted a retrospective evaluation of patients with HF who received postoperative ICU, with a focus on 30-day, 90-day and 1-year mortality outcomes. Participant population/health conditions:Patients over the age of 18 who are hospitalized in the intensive care unit of our hospital after hip fracture operation.

Hip fractures in individuals aged 60 and above pose significant challenges in terms of morbidity, mortality, and healthcare costs. While countries like the United Kingdom and Australia have optimized their healthcare systems for timely management of hip fractures, the situation in Chile presents distinct challenges due to its mixed healthcare system. This study aims to assess survival rates following hip fractures in Chile and identify associated risk factors using national databases from 2012 to 2018. A comprehensive analysis of 35,520 patients revealed that factors such as age, type of health insurance, access to surgery, and treatment in public hospitals significantly influence mortality rates after hip fractures. The study found that patients with hip fractures experience lower 5-year survival rates compared to the general population, particularly when affiliated with public insurance and treated in public institutions. Modifiable factors like delayed surgery and prolonged hospital stays contribute to increased mortality rates. The findings underscore the urgent need for optimized public health policies and healthcare delivery systems to enhance outcomes for hip fracture patients in Chile.Hip fractures in individuals aged 60 and above pose significant challenges in terms of morbidity, mortality, and healthcare costs. Purpose: The aim of this study is to evaluate the effect of post-discharge training given via tele-nursing to elderly patients operated for hip fracture on the quality of life and functional independence levels of the patients.
Ultrasound-guided Supra-inguinal Fascia Iliaca compartment Block (SIFCB) and Pericapsular Nerve Group Block (PENG) are increasingly being used for postoperative analgesia for hip surgery. The postoperative analgesic efficacy of SIFCB added to PENG block in elderly hip fracture patients will be evaluated. Postoperative opioid consumption and quality of recovery will also be evaluated.
Because of population ageing, fragility fractures have become a huge burden on healthcare systems and wider society. Fractures result in a sharp drop in both short-term and long-term quality of life, they have a strong influence on activities of daily living and mobility, and they are associated with a significant increase in 1-year mortality (18%-36%). Surgery can benefit elderly patients with hip fractures to an extent, but it entails inevitable risks, particularly with respect to general anesthesia. In recent years unilateral spinal anesthesia has attracted attention due to the advantages of hemodynamic stability, reduced anesthetic dosage, and sufficient sensory block. On the basis of a previous study, in the current study anesthetics were directly implanted into the unilateral epidural space in elderly patients with hip fractures prior to the completion of surgery. Data from 106 patients with old hip fractures who had undergone surgical treatment incorporating unilateral epidural anesthesia (UEA) or combined lumbar and epidural anesthesia were retrospectively analyzed in an attempt to provide a feasible solution for this kind of patients' anesthesia.
The study compares the effectiveness and safety of the pericapsular nerve blockade vs. ESPB in pediatric patients who underwent hip surgeries.
The aim of this study is to apply pericapsular nerve group (PENG) block or fascia iliaca plan block using ultrasonography to patients who will undergo hip fracture surgery, while giving sitting position before spinal anaesthesia and to reduce postoperative pain complaints. Thanks to these blocks, it is aimed to reduce pain complaints and the need for morphine-derived painkillers before and after surgery.
