Filter by:The goal of this study is to learn if the Mind Over Matter (MOM) Intervention, a 5-week group program, can help Black and African American women deal with the fears, worries and sadness that often accompany cancer diagnosis and treatment. The main question this study aims to answer is: • Whether the MOM Intervention is feasible and acceptable among Black and African American women. We would also like to find out if: - The MOM Intervention decreases anxiety, depression and physical symptom severity for Black and African American women. - The MOM Intervention is culturally and linguistically appropriate, and identify barriers, strengths, and areas of improvement. Participants will: - Attend a Pre-Program Orientation - Attend 5 weekly MOM Sessions - Complete 2 questionnaires (one will be given before the first MOM Session begins, and the other will be given after the last MOM Session) Participants also have the choice to attend an optional Focus Group, which will be offered after the last MOM Session. Please note, this entire Intervention will be offered online. There will be no in-person sessions or visits.
Many cancer patients are highly susceptible to infection and respond poorly to vaccination. This observational study will determine molecular and cellular features of immunity to viral pathogens in participants with cancer and compare them to healthy controls. The aim is to identify how antiviral immunity in participants with cancer differs from that in healthy participants to understand why cancer patients are more susceptible to infections. In this context, the investigators will also evaluate immunity to medically indicated severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) and seasonal influenza vaccine received by study participants during standard care (vaccines are not part of the study).
A Phase I, Double blind, Randomized, Placebo-controlled, Multiple Ascending Dose Study to evaluate the Pharmacokinetics, Pharmacodynamics, Safety and Tolerability of Orally Administered 'CG-745' Capsule in Healthy Male Volunteers
This study seeks to determine if patients undergoing a bone marrow biopsy/aspiration (BMBA) procedure who receive distraction techniques have lower levels of distress and pain, and higher post-procedure satisfaction, compared to those receiving standard-of-care. Intervention 1 is guided meditation in a virtual reality (VR) headset. Intervention 2 is comprised of environmental changes to the room (via nature-themed decals) and music.
The goal of this observational study is to compare the immune function and infection mechanism of patients with hematologic tumors and those people without underlying diseases after infection with SARS-CoV-2. Clinical characteristics, treatment options and responses will be collected. Peripheral blood will be collected from patients with hematologic tumors infected with SARS-CoV-2 and those people without underlying diseases infected with SARS-CoV-2.
The purpose of this study is to evaluate the safety, tolerability, pharmacokinetics (PK), and preliminary efficacy of nemtabrutinib in Japanese participants with mature B-cell neoplasms.
Young adult cancer survivors (18-39y) are at increased risk of financial distress. This study seeks to better understand the financial challenges experienced by these individuals via quantitative serial assessments, study-based financial navigator encounters and an end of study qualitative interview.
The aim of this interventional study is to determine the effect of the mobile application on quality of life and supportive care in patient undergoing stem cell transplantation. The main questions it aims to answer are: 1. What is the effect of the education given with the mobile application on the quality of life of stem cell transplant patients? 2. What is the effect of the education given with the mobile application on supportive care of stem cell transplant patients? 3. What is the effect of the education given with the mobile application on anxiety levels of stem cell transplant patients? In the study, patients will be randomized into the group in which standard processes are applied and the group trained by the mobile application.
Evaluate the efficacy and safety for the prevention of oral mucositis and PK of MIT-001 for lymphoma or multiple myeloma patients receiving conditioning chemotherapy for autologous hematopoietic stem cell transplantation(auto-HSCT).
Venous thromboembolism (VTE) is the second leading cause of death in patients with cancer, after disease progression. VTE is increasingly recognized as a complication in patients with hematologic malignancies and various studies have reported high rates of VTE. Critically ill patients are at high risk of VTE and should all receive thromboprophylaxis. Given the increasing number of patients with HM (hematologic malignancies) / HCT (Hematopoietic cell transplantation) who develop critical illness, and their often prolonged course, it is imperative to understand the incidence and risk factors for VTE, and to evaluate the efficacy and risks associated with both chemical and mechanical thromboprophylaxis Therefore, the investigators plan to evaluate retrospectively the VTE / PE (pulmonary embolism) incidence in HM /HCT patients at the University of Toronto, and the complications associated with it (including death). In addition, the investigators want to evaluate the use, type (mechanical or pharmacological) and timing of thromboprophylaxis. And lastly, the investigators will determine the incidence of bleeding and of complications associated with chemical and mechanical thromboprophylaxis. The investigators will describe the change in VTE incidence over the last 10 years. The investigators know that patients with COVID-19 infection are at higher risk of thrombosis than non-COVID patients. As such, HM/HCT COVID-19 pts will comprise a subgroup, which will be compared with patients who are not not positive for COVID-19. If these numbers are low, COVID-19 status will be included as a predictive variable in our modelling. The results of this research program will help define indications and safety of VTE prophylaxis; and will inform the development of clinical practice guidelines.
