Strengths to Grow: An Online Parenting Resource

Research suggests that strength-based parenting programs can enhance family well-being, but the current formats of these programs (e.g., in-person workshops) are not accessible to many families. The first aim of the study is to develop a strength-based parenting program that is delivered in an accessible and engaging format. A community sample of parents will interact with the online program and complete a brief interview to provide suggestions to increase accessibility and engagement. The second aim of the study is to assess the effectiveness of a strength-based parenting program delivered in an online, interactive format. Toward this end, parents of children in kindergarten to Grade 3 will be invited to complete a brief, online survey of well-being before and a few weeks after completing the online program to assess its impact on well-being.

The Effect of SKY Breath Meditation on Health and Well-being

The goal of this pilot SKY (Sudarshan Kriya Yoga) Breath Meditation study is to establish feasibility and acceptability of the intervention; and investigate preliminary effectiveness of the intervention at the DNA methylation, RNA and protein levels in blood samples collected from participants before and after the 8 week SKY intervention. Primary outcomes also include preliminary effectiveness at the physiological level using a wearable device used for continuous monitoring. Secondary outcome measures include behavioral inventories.

Evaluating an Online Wellness Intervention for Greek Adolescents

The investigators are evaluating the effects of an online single-session mental health intervention (the Common Elements Toolbox; COMET). To evaluate COMET, the investigators are conducting a randomized controlled trial with Greek adolescents attending high school in the Attica region in Greece. Students will be randomized to the COMET condition or to an active control condition. Primary outcome measures (depressive symptoms, anxiety symptoms, subjective well-being) will be measured at two weeks post-intervention and four weeks post-intervention. The investigators will evaluate COMET as a universal intervention (using the full sample) and as a targeted intervention (analyzing those who reported elevated depressive symptoms or anxiety symptoms at baseline).

Supporting the Wellness of Ontario Physicians During COVID-19

In light of the coronavirus pandemic, the challenge of physician burnout has taken on a new urgency. Long-hours and difficult, sometimes unsafe work conditions are creating a severe strain for emergency physicians and others on the frontlines of Ontario's response to COVID-19. There are a variety of evidence-informed ways that physicians can protect their wellbeing with modest investments of time and energy that will be applied. The evaluation will be a randomized trial comparing the outcomes from each of the three treatment arms. Researchers may also use a pre-post comparison with control parameters to conduct an exploratory analysis to assess efficacy.
