Filter by:This study has 2 phases: Phase 1 (dose escalation) and Phase 2 (dose expansion). The goal of Phase 1 of this clinical research study is to find the highest tolerable dose combination of selumetinib and olaparib that can be given to patients who have solid tumors that are advanced or recurrent (has returned after treatment). The goal of Phase 2 is to learn if the highest tolerable dose combination found in Phase 1 can help to control advanced or recurrent solid tumors. The safety of the study drug combination will also be studied in both parts. This is an investigational study. Selumetinib is not FDA approved or commercially available. It is currently being used for research purposes only. Olaparib is FDA approved and commercially available for the treatment of ovarian cancer that has a certain type of genetic mutation (change). It is considered investigational to use selumetinib in combination with olaparib to treat advanced or recurrent cancer. The study doctor can explain how the study drugs are designed to work. Up to 90 participants will be enrolled in this study. All will take part at MD Anderson.
This is a randomized controlled prospective study on the use of therapeutic touch in patients diagnosed with gynecological cancer. The patients will be randomized into three groups: control group (will not receive any interventions with therapeutic touch), placebo group (will receive simulated therapeutic touch intervention by individual not knowing this technique) and treatment group(will receive therapeutic touch intervention by a trained therapeutic touch therapist). Two different quality of life questionnaires will be applied (before and after treatment). Levels of cortisol, salivary IgA, hematological indices and telomerase activity before and after the use of therapeutic touch will be compared between groups.
This trial studies how well a decision aid website works in helping to make decisions about fertility in participants with cancer. Decision aid websites that provide information about fertility preservation (maintaining your ability to have children of your own after cancer treatment) may help participants with cancer make fertility-preservation decisions.
The goal of this clinical research study is to compare the level of pain 2 hours after surgery in patients after the use of the AirSeal® Insufflation System (AIS) at a high or low pressure setting or the standard insufflator (the conventional insufflation system, or CIS). "Insufflation" is the creation of a pressure barrier of air/gas within the abdomen that allows the surgeon more space to work in.
This pilot clinical trial studies how well acceptance and commitment therapy works in improving well-being in patients with stage III-IV cancer and their partners. Learning how to accept negative thoughts and feelings and how to live in the present without worrying about the future or past may improve coping skills in patients with stage III-IV cancer and their partners.
This is a Phase Ib, open-label, non-randomized study in patients with previously treated advanced ovarian or endometrial cancer (Part 1) and platinum-sensitive ovarian cancer or triple-negative breast cancer (TNBC) (Part 2) to investigate the dose, safety, pharmacokinetics, and preliminary efficacy of rucaparib in combination with atezolizumab. The study is conducted in 2 parts: a Dose-Finding Phase (Part 1) and a Dose-Expansion Phase (Part 2)
Any time the words "you," "your," "I," or "me" appear, it is meant to apply to the potential participant. The goal of this clinical research study is to find the highest tolerable dose of gemcitabine that can be given by inhalation (breathing it as a mist) to patients with solid tumors that have spread to the lungs from other parts of the body. The safety and side effects of this drug will also be studied. This is an investigational study. Gemcitabine is FDA approved and commercially available for the treatment of pancreatic and lung cancer, and other solid tumors. Its administration by inhalation is investigational. The study doctor can explain how the study drug is designed to work. Up to 44 participants will be enrolled in this study. All will take part at MD Anderson.
This trial evaluates the impact of a systemic social work driven approach on medical power of attorney documentation, knowledge, attitudes, and beliefs in participants with stage I-IV gynecological cancers. Social work counseling and education may help increase the number of participants who complete medical power of attorney documents. Counseling and education may also affect attitudes about decision-making and willingness to take part in these conversations in participants with stage I-IV gynecological cancers and their family members and/or caregivers.
Mechanical bowel preparation aims to decrease the volume fecal content in the colon, which thereby decreases the total colony count of bacteria, thus, decreasing peritoneal contamination in case of bowel injury, improving the access to the surgical field and facilitating intraoperative bowel manipulation
First in Human study, assessing the safety profile, the pharmacokinetics and preliminary antitumor activity of GM102, a new compound (a monoclonal antibody), in patients with previously treated gynecological cancers bearing the AMHRII (anti-mullerian Hormone Receptor II) receptor. The primary objective of the study is to determine the GM102 recommended dose.
