Filter by:The overall goal of this project, co-funded by the Foundation Fighting Blindness and the USHER 1F Collaborative is to characterize the natural history of disease progression in patients with PCDH15 mutations in order to accelerate the development of outcome measures for clinical trials.
This study intends to determine the patients' perception and motivation to obtain additional information on their preimplantation embryos' risks of polygenic disorders. Patients undergoing IVF and genetic testing on their embryos for aneuploidies will be given the option to obtain information of their embryos' polygenic disease risk after receiving genetic counseling.
The study of hereditary cancer related syndromes allows reducing the risk of suffering in cancer to patients and close relatives. The objective of this study will be to evaluate the prevelance of psychological morbidity in patients attended at cancer genetic counselling unit, and to determine the socio-demographic and clinical factors that influence it. A descriptive cross-sectional study will be carried out. Patients attented at the cancer genetic counselling unit, who have criteria for conducting a genetic syndrome test related to hererditary cancer, will be consecutively evaluated. To knowing the psychological morbidity it is relevant to providing care for these patients.
This study will investigate reproductive genetic carrier screening (RGCS) in 10,000 couples across Australia. Carrier screening for approximately 1300 genes associated with severe, childhood-onset, X-linked and autosomal recessive conditions will be performed on each member of the couple. A combined result will be issued indicating whether the couple has a 'low' or 'increased' risk of having a child with a genetic condition. It is anticipated that 1-2% of couples will be at an increased risk of having an affected child. The study will evaluate all aspects of the RGCS program to assess the feasibility and acceptability of a publicly-funded population-wide RGCS program, including: - education of recruiting healthcare providers - education of participating couples - implementation and uptake of RGCS - frequency of increased-risk couples and their reproductive decisions - psychosocial impacts - ethical issues - health economic implications - health implementation research
This study evaluates the safety, tolerability and efficacy of QR-1123 injection in the eye (intravitreal; IVT) injections (one eye/unilateral) in subjects receiving a single dose or repeat doses. Single injections will be assessed in an open label way, and repeat injections will be assessed in a double-masked, randomized, sham-controlled fashion.
This is a pilot study involving a prospective group of 15 evaluable patients who will undergo rapid whole genome sequencing in addition to standard of care testing. Subjects will be drawn from children admitted to the NICU at OSF Health Care Children's Hospital of Illinois who meet inclusion criteria. The aims of this study are to evaluate the turn-around time and cost of performing rapid whole genome sequencing (rWGS) compared to standard of care in the diagnosis of genetic disorders among critically ill infants in a regional children's hospital and to describe management outcomes of utilizing rWGS in acutely ill patients less than four months of age.

The purpose of this study is to evaluate the safety, tolerability and efficacy of a single escalating doses of EDIT-101 administered via subretinal injection in participants with LCA10 caused by a homozygous or compound heterozygous mutation involving c.2991+1655A>G in intron 26 of the CEP290 gene ("LCA10-IVS26").
The primary hypothesis is that a tailored programme of genetic and imaging screening of first- and second-degree relatives of patients affected by non-syndromic forms of thoracic aortic diseases will identify individuals at risk of death from these conditions. These individuals would constitute specific population of patients, requiring dedicated imaging surveillance and/or earlier prophylactic aortic surgery.
