Filter by:Deficits in the management of common symptoms cause substantial morbidity for cancer patients.Because the health care delivery system is structured to be reactive and not proactive, there are missed opportunities to optimize symptom control. Growth in Internet access and proliferation of smartphones has created an opportunity to re-engineer cancer care delivery. Electronic symptom tracking and feedback is a promising strategy to improve symptom control. Electronic patient reported outcome (ePRO) monitoring of cancer symptoms has been shown to decrease symptom burden, improve quality of life, reduce acute care and even extend survival. The aim of this multi-centered study is to understand the epidemiology of infectious complications after gastrointestinal surgery in China. In total, 17 centers from China will prospectively register their patients undergo gastric or colorectal surgeries. Patient demographic data, operation information, and postoperative data including the infectious complications and the outcomes will be registered. We expect to include 2000 gastric and 2000 colorectal patients within one year and the study is expected to be finished in 2020.
Background: A new cancer therapy takes white blood cells from a person, grows them in a lab, genetically changes them, then gives them back to the person. Researchers think this may help attack tumors in people with certain cancers. It is called gene transfer using anti-KRAS G12D mTCR cells. Objective: To see if anti-KRAS G12D mTCR cells are safe and cause tumors to shrink. Eligibility: Adults ages 18-72 who have cancer with a molecule on the tumors that can be recognized by the study cells Design: Participants will be screened with medical history, physical exam, scans, photography, and heart, lung, and lab tests. An intravenous (IV) catheter will be placed in a large vein in the chest. Participants will have leukapheresis. Blood will be removed through a needle in an arm. A machine will divide the blood and collect white blood cells. The rest of the blood will be returned to the participant through a needle in the other arm. A few weeks later, participants will have a hospital stay. They will: - Get 2 chemotherapy medicines by IV over 5 days. - Get the changed cells through the catheter. Get up to 9 doses of a medicine to help the cells. They may get a shot to stimulate blood cells. - Recover in the hospital for up to 3 weeks. They will provide blood samples. Participants will take an antibiotic for at least 6 months. Participants will have several follow-up visits over 2 years. They will repeat most of the screening tests and may have leukapheresis. Participants blood will be collected for several years.
Traditionally, opioids are heavily utilized in treating postoperative pain but they are associated with numerous side effects. The use of the transversus abdominis plane (TAP) blocks have become standard practice to extend the post-operative analgesic window and limit opioid use. A new liposomal-depo formulation of bupivacaine (Exparel) has gained popularity as a long-lasting TAP block medication, but has not been studied in a well-powered clinical trial specifically in colorectal patients nor compared to a bupivacaine/steroid mixture which may offer similar effects. We conduct a prospective randomized prospective randomized study of patients undergoing major laparoscopic colorectal surgery to compare the analgesic effects of a bupivacaine/steroid mixture versus liposomal bupivacaine.

Therefore Indium-111-DOTA-labetuzumab-IRDye800CW is a perfect dual-labeled antibody for dual-modality image-guided surgery in peritoneal carcinomatosis of colorectal cancer.
This study will evaluate the efficacy and safety of Impact Oral in Patients undergoing Surgery for Gastrointestinal Cancer, half of the participants will receive Impact Oral nutrition therapy, the other half will receive Enteral Nutrition Emulsion(TPF-T) therapy.
The research studies patients with advanced gastrointestinal cancer who receive chemotherapy in the medical oncology department of the First Affiliated Hospital of Xian Jiaotong University. All patients receive the nutritional risk assessment by the nutritional support team first, and patients with nutritional risk or malnutrition are randomly assigned to the study group and the control group. The study group receive nutritional intervention from the nutritional support team during the period of chemotherapy, while the control group receive routine nutritional support from their clinicians. In the control group, nurses execute the doctors' advice on nutrition, and the nutrition support team does not actively communicate with doctors about the nutritional risk of patients or interfere with it. The baseline characteristics, chemotherapy efficacy, adverse events and prognosis are collected in both groups. At last, data are analyzed to clarify the nutritional status and related factors of patients with advanced gastrointestinal cancer in our hospital, and most important to explore the effect of nutrition-support-team intervention on nutritional status, chemotherapy tolerance and prognosis of patients with advanced gastrointestinal cancer.
The study goal is to compare surgeon-palliative care team co-management, versus surgeon alone management, of patients and family members preparing for major upper gastrointestinal cancer surgery. The study also aims to explore, using qualitative methods, the impact of surgeon-palliative care team co-management versus surgeon alone management on the perioperative care experience for patients, family members, surgeons, and palliative care clinicians.
This is a randomized, controlled, parallel, multicenter trial to determine the difference in post-operative anastomotic leakages in colorectal surgery, where anastomosis perfusion is evaluated using indocyanine green fluorescence imaging as an addition to standard surgical practice compared to surgical practice alone.
This is a Phase 1 study currently evaluating PO administered ompenaclid in combination with FOLFIRI and bevacizumab in patients with advanced (i.e., locally advanced and unresectable, or metastatic) previously treated colorectal adenocarcinoma. The single agent ompenaclid dose escalation stage and the ompenaclid in combination with FOLFIRI and bevacizumab dose escalation stage of the study has been completed; the expansion stage of ompenaclid in combination with FOLFIRI and bevacizumab is ongoing. In April-24 a protocol amendment added a new dose escalation and expansion stage which will evaluate ompenaclid in combination with FOLFOX and bevacizumab in patients with metastatic CRC. It is anticipated that a total of 30 patients will be enrolled in this new dose escalation and expansion stage of the study.
