NCT ID: NCT03497949 Completed - Hip Fractures Clinical Trials

Peri-operative Vasopressor Support in Patients Operated for an Acute Hip Fracture (AHF)

Start date: January 20, 2017
Phase:
Study type: Observational

The incidence of hypotension perioperatively during operation of an acute hip fracture is unknown. As a surrogate factor the usage of vasopressor support is more adequate as the registration of vasopressor drugs are many times not complete in records. The investigators retrospectively investigated the anesthetic journals of 1100 patients with an acute hip fracture (AHF) noting confounding factors and the usage of vasopressors either by injections or infusions and then correlated these results to mortality at 30-, 90- and 365- days

NCT ID: NCT03496337 Completed - Hand Injuries Clinical Trials

Is AMPS a Responsive Tool for Assessing Change in ADL-abilities After Finger or Hand Surgery

Start date: November 1, 2017
Phase:
Study type: Observational

The aim of the study is to assess the responsiveness of the Assessment of Motor and Process Skills (AMPS) in a population of patients undergoing rehabilitation following hand surgery, as this has not previously been investigated. Methods: Patients are included from the department of physical and occupational therapy at Silkeborg Regional Hospital in the period November 2017 to May 2018. A total of 50 patients, who have been referred for specialized occupational therapy rehabilitation following finger or hand surgery, will be included. At baseline and follow-up (after 8 weeks) all patients are assessed with AMPS, Canadian Occupational Performance Measure (COPM), hand grip strength and joint range of motion using standardized methods. Responsiveness to change is evaluated using an anchor-based method, comparing AMPS scores with the scores on the Global Rating Scale. The area under the ROC curve will be calculated, and an area under the curve of 0.7 is considered acceptable. Convergent and discriminative validity of the AMPS will be assessed across the different instruments used. Thus the investigators expect a higher correlation between AMPS and COPM and lower correlation between AMPS and hand grip strength and range of motion.

NCT ID: NCT03494309 Completed - Clinical trials for Mandibular Fractures

Open Versus Closed Reduction of Mandibular Sub-Condylar Fractures

Start date: November 1, 2014
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

Patients with mandibular sub-condylar fractures underwent either either open reduction with internal fixation (ORIF) or closed reduction with external fixation (CREF) and were followed up for 6 months to assess treatment adequacy with the hypothesis that ORIF is superior to CREF.

NCT ID: NCT03478189 Completed - Acetabular Fracture Clinical Trials

The Added Value of Intraoperative CT Scanner and Screw Navigation in Operative Treatment of Displaced Acetabular Fracture With Dome Impaction

Start date: September 8, 2017
Phase:
Study type: Observational

The acetabulum fracture result from a trauma with high energy at the young adult or from a trauma of low energy at the old osteoporotic patient. Anatomic reduction is known to be necessary to give functional result to patient. However, it's technically difficult because of the pelvic bone conformation. The presence of dome impaction makes the surgery more difficult. Per operatory scanner associated to 3D navigation is proved his value-added in spinal surgery. The aim of the study is show that this association permit a technical improvement for the surgeon in the precision of fracture reduction.and restore the articular congruence.

NCT ID: NCT03477851 Completed - Pain, Acute Clinical Trials

Tramadol Simultaneously With Sciatic Nerve Block for Calcaneus Fracture Osteosynthesis

TramIsch
Start date: June 15, 2017
Phase: Phase 4
Study type: Interventional

Comparison of duration of efficient analgesia after painful surgical repair od foot fractures between groups treated with sciatic nerve block alone and sciatic nerve block simultaneously with i.m. tramadol

NCT ID: NCT03476824 Completed - Pelvic Fracture Clinical Trials

Pelvic Fractures in the Elderly

PelvFx
Start date: January 1, 2006
Phase:
Study type: Observational

The aim of the project is to predict the patient under conservative therapy as a function of the patient Classification of Rommens and Hofmann and other potential prognostic factors. A corresponding prognostic score may be used in the future by patients and attending physicians support joint decision between surgical and conservative treatment.

NCT ID: NCT03475771 Completed - Clinical trials for Venous Thromboembolism

Retrospective Evaluation of Thrombo-embolic Complication in Pelvic Fracture Surgery

Start date: March 24, 2017
Phase:
Study type: Observational

Pelvic fracture are very often treated by surgery ; however there are a high level of thrombotic risk during the surgery (venous thrombo embolic events represent about 10% to 50%. The aim of our study is to report the number of these events and identify the risk factor associated to these events regarding Greenfield Risk Assessment Profile .

NCT ID: NCT03474900 Completed - Forearm Fracture Clinical Trials

Biodegradable Versus Titanium Nailing in Forearm Shaft Fractures in Children

Start date: February 20, 2011
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

There are disadvantages in Elastic Stable Intramedullary Nailing (ESIN) of forearm shaft fractures, such as soft tissue irritation and the need of implant removal. A new mini-invasive technique of intramedullary nailing with biodegradable material (BESIN) has been developed. The nails are tapped into the medullary cavity and left in place. The aim of this study was to compare BESIN technique with ESIN. This is a prospective, randomized, controlled clinical trial including the patients (aged 5-15 years) who required operative treatment for forearm shaft fractures in two pediatric trauma centers, in Finland. The patients were randomized to be treated by BESIN or ESIN. Thirteen patients were required for each group, according to power analysis but altogether 35 were enrolled for potential drop-outs. Biodegradable polylactide-co-glycolide (PLGA) nails (ActivaNail ®, Bioretec ltd, Finland) were used in 19 and titanium nails (TEN ®, Synthes ltd, USA) in 16 patients. Pain and the range of motion (ROM) of forearm, elbow and wrist were primary outcomes. Radiographs and potential complications were analyzed of all and magnetic resonance imagines (MRI) of a randomly selected subgroup in BESIN group (N=13).

NCT ID: NCT03474445 Completed - Clinical trials for Distal Radius Fracture

Comparison of Two Volar Plating Systems for Distal Radius Fractures

Start date: March 1, 2017
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

We plan to compare 2 types of plating systems for volar plating of distal radius fractures (Aptus 2.5® Medartis AG, Basel, Switzerland vs. INTEOS 2.5® - Hofer Medical GmbH and Co KG, Austria) in a prospective single-blinded controlled clinical trial.

NCT ID: NCT03470662 Completed - Delirium Clinical Trials

Prevention of Delirium Among Elderly Patients With Hip Fractures

Start date: March 1, 2017
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

Objective: To evaluate the effect of care bundle on prevention of delirium among elderly patients with hip fractures. Methods: A prospective randomized case control study was performed for 80 patients (≥65 years) with hip fractures treated surgically according to their ages and the type of fractures from March 1th of 2017 to June 30th of 2017.There were 11 males and 69 females, with the age of (79.3±7.84) years. Confusion assessment method (CAM) was applied to diagnose delirium after surgery, the subjects were randomized divided into experimental group (n=43) and control group (n=37). The parameters next were recorded and analyzed, including age, gender, type of fractures, type of internal instrument, amount of bleeding, time between injured to surgery, time length of operation, type of operation, VAS, incidence of delirium, perioperative complications and adverse events.
