Filter by:Social processing and cognition are often altered in patients with eating disorders. The goal of this clinical trial is to assess two different social therapeutic interventions -- one educational, one interactive -- for their effectiveness in improving clinical outcomes in patients with eating disorders. Patients in both interventions will receive education about social function in eating disorders, but those in the interactive treatment group will complete an additional collaborative art task. Participants will: - attend a baseline study visit to complete clinical interviews, cognitive testing, and behavioral tasks - complete a pre-intervention assessment with questionnaires - attend eight sessions of their assigned treatment group over the course of 12 weeks - complete three virtual follow-up assessments 4, 8, and 12 months from their baseline - attend a final study visit to repeat some clinical interviews, cognitive testing, and behavioral tasks Researchers will compare changes in eating disorder, mood, and anxiety symptoms as well as test results from baseline and final study visits for each group to see if - patients can be treated effectively with education alone or if an interactive group component produces additional benefits - cognitive and behavioral task performance are associated with recovery or illness state.
This two-armed randomized controlled trial investigates the efficacy of a web-based emotion regulation intervention in a transdiagnostic sample. The sample includes participants diagnosed with anxiety disorders, depression, eating disorders, borderline personality disorder, and healthy controls without a current psychiatric diagnosis. Participants will be randomly assigned to either the intervention group, receiving a web-based emotion regulation program, or a waitlist control group, which will have delayed intervention access after eight weeks. The intervention is grounded in cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), featuring everyday emotion regulation exercises, and psychoeducation delivered through video and audio files. Outcome measures include emotion regulation abilities, well-being, anxiety, depression, eating disorder symptoms, personality pathology, and self-esteem, evaluated at four and eight weeks post-baseline.
The aim of the present study is to evaluate the efficacy of GGTCA to decrease the maladaptive beliefs associated with eating disorders (ED) in non-clinical adult population. Specifically, a randomized controlled trial with crossover assignment design and two groups (experimental and control) will be carried out in adults aged 18-65 years to assess the changes pre and post use the app. It's expected that after the use of the GGTCA app for 15 days are, at the primary level: decrease in the degree of ascription to dysfunctional beliefs associated with ED; and at the secondary level: increase in self-esteem; decrease in eating symptomatology; and no changes in emotional symptomatology, since the pilot study did not find. These results are also expected to be maintained in subsequent follow-ups, at 15 days and a month after to finish the app in experimental group, and 15 days after to finish the app in control group.
This study tests a single-session intervention (SSI) targeting risk factors for depression and eating disorders among sexual and gender minority (SGM) adolescents. Youth ages 13-17 who identify as sexual or gender minorities will be randomized to the intervention condition (Project Body Neutrality SSI) or a control (supportive therapy SSI). Participants will complete questionnaires before the intervention, immediately after the intervention, and 3-months after completing the intervention so that the study team can investigate if Project Body Neutrality leads to reductions in depression and eating disorder symptoms compared to the control.
The current proposal will evaluate the feasibility, acceptability, and preliminary efficacy of Exposure Therapy for anorexia nervosa (AN) spectrum disorders (Exp-AN), an innovative treatment rooted in principles of inhibitory learning. Exp-AN will target anxiety about both eating and weight gain by combining in vivo (i.e., in real life) and imaginal (i.e., mental) exposure in novel ways (e.g., eating a feared food while listening to a recording describing fears about weight gain).
Hypothesis of "AN-ACC pathological network" suggests that ACC overactivation and abnormal functional connectivity with other brain regions is the neuropathological mechanism for the onset of AN. Currently, rare studies have been conducted on dTMS targeting ACC as an intervention in patients with AN. In this research, dTMS, a neuroregulatory technology, is used for the first time to intervene with ACC in the treatment of adult AN. A randomized controlled study design is adopted, in which patients with AN are divided into the dTMS treatment group and the pseudo-stimulation group by 1:1 randomization, followed by 6-week intervention and half-year follow up, to clarify the near-term and long-term efficacy and safety of the dTMS treatment. Meanwhile, baseline fMRI data will be extracted and combined with clinical features to establish an efficacy prediction model, which will provide theoretical and practical basis for the pioneering ACC-targeted dTMS treatment in China, helping to establish a new type of intervention program for AN, with expected results of innovation.
The aim of this study is to examine the effect of eating disorders on occupational balance in university students. Occupational balance levels will be compared in university students with and without eating disorders. The study will be finalized with the voluntary participation of 105 university students for both groups and 210 university students in total. The relationship between eating disorder tendencies and occupational balance in university students will be examined.
This repository will consist of home monitoring data, videos, and images of patients with feeding difficulties for asynchronous remote patient monitoring of manually entered data sent by parents to the healthcare team using the CHAMP App for children with feeding difficulties. This information will be collected under a research protocol and this repository is for future research applications.
Pregnancy is a time of heightened risk for disordered eating behaviors, which have been linked to adverse health outcomes in gestation, delivery, and the postpartum. These adverse outcomes may at least in part be mediated by greater risk of deviation from recommended gestational weight gain trajectories, especially in those engaged in binge and loss of control eating. This study will explore the efficacy of a single-session, self-guided online acceptance-based intervention targeting food cravings as powerful and modifiable predictors of binge and LOC eating in pregnancy.
The goal of this study is to demonstrate safety, feasibility, and efficacy of a novel pharyngo-esophageal stimulation technique in restoring aerodigestive and swallowing functions in select infants at-risk for chronic gavage tube feeding or gastrostomy. The main aims are: - To provide consistent activation of deglutition (the process of swallowing), swallowing-airway interactions, and peristalsis in order to decrease the risk of home tube feeding. - To examine whether physical and manometric evidence-guided interventions and biofeedback will improve compliance, minimize parental stress, and increase satisfaction and perceived self-confidence with infant feeding. Participants will have weekly pharyngo-esophageal stimulation guided by High Resolution Impedance Manometry (HRIM) for 4 weeks or until discharge, oral nutritive stimulation of at least 5 mL of prescribed milk with each feed, and weekly parental education and feedback regarding feeding progress.
