NCT ID: NCT05517538 Completed - Wrinkle Clinical Trials

Split-face Study: Cosmetic Botulinum Toxin Type A Injection Under Electromyography-guidance Versus Conventional Palpation Technique

Start date: August 9, 2021
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

The aim of this study was to compare between the conventional palpation method of botulinum toxin type A injection and the electromyography-guided method using clinical parameters and electromyography analysis.

NCT ID: NCT05477303 Recruiting - Pain, Postoperative Clinical Trials

Artificial Intelligence to Evaluate Postoperative Pain Based on Facial Expression

Start date: June 17, 2022
Phase:
Study type: Observational

Patients' subjective complaints about pain intensity are difficult to objectively evaluate, and may lead to inadequate pain management, especially in patients with communication difficulties.

NCT ID: NCT04911140 Recruiting - Wrinkle Clinical Trials

Comparison of the Effects of Two Frequencies of Application of Photobiomodulation on Facial Rejuvenation

Start date: May 30, 2021
Phase: Phase 2
Study type: Interventional

Skin aging is an irreversible, slow and progressive process, being influenced mainly by age, but also by external factors such as ultraviolet radiation, smoking, alcohol, among others. Studies have shown benefits of photobiomodulation for facial rejuvenation, especially with the use of red LED. However, there is still a high level of variability in treatment parameters and frequency of application of FBM. The purpose of this study is to compare the effects of photobiomodulation with LED mask (660nm, 6.4 mW/cm², 2.67 J/cm², 5.02 mW, 21 min) on facial rejuvenation using 2 application frequencies: a group will receive 2 weekly applications for 4 weeks and another group will receive 3 weekly applications for the same period. A group with simulated photobiomodulation applied twice a week for 4 weeks will be used as a control. The treatment will be performed in female participants aged between 45 and 60 years. After a period of one month, the depth and width of wrinkles (assessment of face impressions by optical coherence tomography), evaluations of photographic images by specialists (Wrinkle Assessment Scale), as well as the quantitative analysis of the wrinkle size by the Image J software and the level of satisfaction of the participants (FACE-Q) will be compared with data collected before the start of the study. All data will be statistically analyzed according to their distribution, seeking a level of statistical significance of 5%.

NCT ID: NCT03974373 Completed - Facial Expression Clinical Trials

Postoperative Evaluation of the Intraoral Technique of Buccal Fat Pad Removal

Start date: April 1, 2016
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

In recent years there has been a growing number of procedures for the removal of the buccal fat pad (BFP) or as frequently referred to as bichectomy. Buccal fat pad removal can be used as part of the therapeutic procedure in cases of: sinus buco fistulas, peri-orbital defects, congenital palatal fissure, patients with severe bruxism, patients with constant lesions caused by bites on the jugal mucosa and in patients who are dissatisfied with the facial contour. In cases of thinning of the face, biting lesions and bruxism, total or partial of the BFP removal is performed, always taking into account a facial harmonization. The aim of the present study was to demonstrate the procedure of BFP removal and its respective postoperative period. A total of 40 BFP removal surgeries were performed between 2016 and 2017 with intraoral access technique. After the bichectomy procedure the subjects were followed for: 4, 7, 10, 15, 30, and 90 days. The postoperative period can be compared to that of a third molar extraction, and the use of analgesics and anti-inflammatories can adequately control the pain symptomatology. Edema and mouth opening limited for about 15 days were the most commonly found alterations in surgeries performed. The surgical technique is a simple and safe procedure provided by trained and experienced professionals. The bichectomy should be performed following a precise indication and the procedure is becoming a new area of practice for the dental surgeon, who can perform the procedure safely, reliably and with aesthetic and therapeutic results provided that with precise indications.

NCT ID: NCT02923908 Completed - Facial Expression Clinical Trials

Recording Facial Expressions to Assess Taste in Children and Teenagers

Start date: December 2016
Phase:
Study type: Observational

The study is designed to see if, after tasting specific things, whether a child's facial pattern and voice pattern can determine the difference in something that has a sweet taste, no taste, and a bitter taste. The investigators will do this by comparing video recordings of a child's facial expression and voice to the child's response to follow-up questions after tasting three (3) different substances.
