The Use of 18F-ALF-NOTA-PRGD2 PET/CT Scan to Predict the Efficacy and Adverse Events of Apatinib in Malignancies.

This is an open-label, single arm study to explore whether 18F-ALF-NOTA-PRGD2 PET/CT scan can predict the efficacy and adverse events of apatinib in patients with malignancies. Integrin αvβ3 has been shown to play an important role in angiogenesis and up-regulated obviously in various types of tumor cells and activated endothelial cells. The arginine-glycine-aspartic acid (RGD) tripeptide sequence can bind to integrin αvβ3 with high affinity and specificity. The 18F-ALF-NOTA-PRGD2 will highly combine with αvβ3, and thus will monitor the antiangiogenic status.In the current study, investigators propose to evaluate the feasibility of 18F-RGD PET/CT in monitoring efficacy and adverse events of apatinib in malignancies.

Rehabilitative Strategies Following Oesophageal Cancer

The ReStOre trial is a multi-disciplinary intervention of exercise, diet and education for patients who have completed treatment for oesophageal cancer. The intervention aims to improve quality of life and functional performance following oesophageal cancer and assist patients to return to normal activity during the early survivorship phase. The 12-week intervention will involve structured exercise training, individual dietary advice and multi-disciplinary education sessions addressing a range of survivorship needs.

PET in Guiding Cervical Lymphadenectomy (ECTOP-2003)

Esophageal cancer is the eighth most common cancer around the world, with more than 450000 new cases per year. Esophagectomy with radical lymphadenectomy (2-field lymphadenectomy) is the mainstay of treatment in many countries for patients with esophageal cancer. To improve the survival, 3-field lymphadenectomy combined with cervical lymphadenectomy was started in 1980s. More potential positive lymph nodes were found during more extended lymphadenectomy, offering more accurate TNM staging, affecting consequent treatment. However,3-field-lymphadenectomy was associated with increased surgical morbidity and mortality. Positron emission tomography (PET) is used for detecting distant metastases and lymphatic involvement. The aim of the study is to evaluate the role of PET in predicting cervical lymph metastases of patients with thoracic esophageal squamous cell carcinoma, and to determine if investigators can use PET to guide future cervical lymphadenectomy.
