Filter by:There are several studies performed to reveal the linkage between diet, fecal microbiota, and obesity. Human fecal microbiota transplantations in this asset are still scarce. Therefore, this pilot study of FMT from lean to obese people with dietary counseling will increase the knowledge, whether FMT could play a role in the treatment of obesity and NAFLD. Our primary outcome is the changes in glucose metabolism by HOMA-IR.
The food intake is often compromised in the elderly, and during hospitalization, dietary restrictions may be imposed, making them more susceptible to the risk of malnutrition and sarcopenia. It is essential to make an early identification of the elderly with low intake and involve them in their self-care. The aims will be assess the influence of the nutritionist's educational action to increase protein intake in elderly patients, to analyze the knowledge on its importance in the prevention of sarcopenia and to identify the prevalence of nutritional risk. This is a field, prospective, correlational, comparative and randomized study. The elderly patients will be randomized into a Control Group and Intervention Group.
This study plans to learn more about how consuming a diet with foods typical to a Mediterranean Diet such as whole grains, fruits and vegetables in a Western-style diet compares to eating a typical Western-style diet. This study will look at how diet affects overall health including risk factors for heart disease, gut health and inflammation as well as underlying mechanisms linking whole food to health. Findings from this study will potentially inform effective dietary recommendations and interventions, thereby reducing chronic disease in humans.
This study extends follow up on of Native American (NA) mothers and their children (now age 3-5 years) enrolled in the 1:1 randomized controlled trial of the Family Spirit Nurture (FSN) intervention designed to prevent early childhood obesity (PECO 1). The investigators will examine whether positive FSN impacts on sugar sweetened beverage (SSB) consumption and healthy growth in the first year of life were sustained. The investigators will also examine the effects of the emergency COVID-19 water solutions on water insecurity, early childhood SSB consumption, and growth, and explore how COVID-19 affected child feeding patterns and weight status either through changes in maternal mental health or household food access.
The purpose of this study is to evaluate the safety and performance of DTXO App in improving weight loss and weight-loss maintenance in obese patients exposed to an experimental non-pharmacological treatment program. The App will include a dietary plan and customized advice program, a customized physical exercise program plan, a cognitive- behavioral assessment and support program, alerts and reminders on prescribed drugs intake and on dietary and exercise program, chat and online visits with clinical professionals, and trophies to improve patient engagement.
Hispanic/Latino adults in the United States (U.S.) bear a disproportionate burden of type 2 diabetes (T2D). Dietary changes, facilitated by increased access and adherence to healthy foods, are necessary. In this study, continuous glucose monitoring (CGM) will be used to quantify changes in glycemic control in Hispanic/Latino (predominantly of Mexican origin) adults with or at-risk of T2D before and after receiving free avocados for 12 weeks. Beyond CGM-measured glycemic control, wearable activity and sleep monitors, physical exams, laboratory analyses, and questionnaires/logs will be used to track the impact of free avocado vouchers. The findings are anticipated to help clinicians provide new information to support positive behavior change to reduce the risk of T2D or progression from pre-diabetes to T2D and make it easier for patients to access healthier food, potentially leading to improved health.
The aim of the study is to provide proof of the effectiveness, acceptability, healthfulness and nutritional adequacy of dietary guidelines to reduce greenhouse gas emissions. The study will compare the effect of dietary advice based on 1) healthy climate-friendly dietary guidelines (intervention group) or 2) standard healthy dietary guidelines (control) on greenhouse gas emissions associated with dietary intake over 12 weeks.
Mindfulness, seemingly a simple concept, research shows that the impact of mindfulness on the overall wellness of an individual can be helpful (5). Research supports that mindfulness leads to reduced stress, enhanced performance, better focus, and improved approach (7). Areas of mindfulnessare mindful eating, movement and meditation. Application of mindfulness tools in these areas can be beneficial to health outcomes and to create a happier more efficient work environment (9). Mindful eating shows to improve diet quality and attitudes toward food and eating. Individuals better understand physical hunger/fullness cues, improve nutrient density, weight control, digestion, systolic blood pressure, and stress(2). Disordered eating behaviors have also shown to improve(3). Mindless eating, such as eating while being on the phone, driving, or watching television can have the opposite effect and can be linked to more emotional hunger cues. Combining mindful eating with diet therapy can lead to healthier food choices and a more positive feeling towards eating and body image, reducing stress and improving the overall wellness of an individual (4). Aspire's experience shows that aspects of teacher's wellness is worsening with ,media reporting more and more employees resigning from their positions every day (wccb,2021). Teachers have voiced their need for more support with their wellbeing. As a result, Aspire Nutrition is targeting school employees through a newly developed mindfulness program titled Nourish Carolina. This program will be focused on improving the overall wellness of participants Participants are enrolled in the study for 12 weeks. All participants will have weekly nutritional counseling and bi-weekly mental health counseling. Study group will have nutrition and mental health counseling with mindfulness activities and control group will receive nutrition and mental health sessions without mindfulness activities. There is a program curriculum so that mental health and nutrition mindfulness activities compliment eachother The mindfulness lessons for study group are divided into 6 nutrition and 6 mental health sessions, for 15 minutes during the session. Positive outcomes could include improved workplace performance as a result of enhancing school employees overall wellness and quality of life by reducing stress levels, improving diet quality, and improving mental health.
"Matkassen - effekten av tre månaders intensiv kostintervention hos barn med fetma/ Family Meals on Prescription.- a randomized controlled trial : The aim of the study was to explore a novel approach for the treatment of obesity in children and adolescents through an intensive dietary intervention, consisting of receiving a weekly bag of groceries and recipes for five family meals at a reduced price for three months. This study aims to evaluate the acceptability of bouillon cubes fortified with six micronutrients for which deficiency is common among women and children in Ghana and to assess the feasibility and reliability of data collection methods to be used in a planned, more detailed study to evaluate the effect of multiple micronutrient (MN)-fortified bouillon cube on biomarkers of nutrient status, health and development of women and children.
