In the wake of the pandemic, it is important to explore remote nutrition education programs during the pre- and postnatal period. This is the second phase of a bigger project, where a 6-week intensive remotely delivered nutrition and health education program called the PREPARE program will be piloted. Prepare stands for "Perinatal Remote Education for Pandemic Resilience", and it is a nutrition and health education program meant for pregnant and lactating women aimed at improving maternal and infant dietary diversity, maternal health literacy and increasing COVID-19 awareness. One hundred women will be selected from a pool of 233 women who completed a baseline survey last year. Fifty of them will receive the intervention and the other 50 will receive a delayed intervention.

Dietary Diversity of Young Children During CoVID-19 Outbreak: A Longitudinal Study

The 2019-2020 coronavirus pandemic has had far-reaching consequences beyond the spread of the disease. Quarantine measures during a public health pandemic can be particularly detrimental to urban poor families and affect the dietary diversity and food security. This can disproportionately affect young children aged 6 and below, and severely impact those <2 years. Sudden unemployment may result in an unexpected reduction in income that will place pressure on daily budgets for food. Children of families may not have access to foods of adequate diversity that will enable them to meet their macro and micronutrient requirements for growth and development, especially during the Movement Control Order (MCO). The study plans to monitor and evaluate dietary diversity in young children's food intake after the MCO and use the collected information to direct targeted food aid to address observed macro- and micronutrient deficiencies among the urban vulnerable group.

A Feasibility Study of Delivering Adolescent Nutrition Interventions Through School-Based Platforms in Ethiopia

Alive & Thrive (A&T) is an initiative that supports the scaling up of nutrition interventions to save lives, prevent illnesses, and contribute to healthy growth and development through improved maternal nutrition, breastfeeding and complementary feeding practices. In Ethiopia, A&T tested the feasibility of implementing a package of locally tailored adolescent nutrition interventions through school-based (flag assemblies, classroom lessons, girls' clubs, peer mentoring, weight and height measurement, and parent-teacher meetings) and community platforms (health post and home visits and community gatherings). The evaluation used a two-arm cluster-randomized, non-masked trial design, consisting of two cross-sectional surveys in 2019 and 2021.

Gender Difference of Metabolic Syndrome and Its Association Between Dietary Diversity at Different Ages

With the development of economics in China, the dietary diversity got higher. Meanwhile, the prevalence of metabolic syndrome (MetS) raised up as well. To investigate the gender difference of getting MetS and its various associations with dietary diversity at different ages.Data of adults(n=4308) aged 18+ y with three consecutive 24-h recalls and complete co-variates information were extracted from Chinese Nutrition and Health Survey in 2009. Modified Dietary Diversity Score (DDS) was adopted to capture the diversity of diet. MetS was defined by the harmonized criteria. Multivariable adjusted logistic regression was carried out to detect the association between DDS and MetS and its components for young, middle aged and elderly adults by a cross-sectional study.
