Filter by:To evaluate in a comparative way the patient's perception in implant surgery in the posterior mandibular quadrants depending on whether the operation is performed under trunk anaesthesia or infiltrative anaesthesia, in both cases with Articaine. Randomized and multicenter prospective study to be developed in eight centers with similar socio-professional characteristics, with the same operative protocol. A significant sample of patients will be randomized to undergo the same intervention (surgery to place implants in the posterior mandible) under one or another type of anesthesia (inferior alveolar block nerve or infiltrative) and data will be collected using a Numerical Rate scale on four occasions (after the incision, after drilling, after suturing and after 12h).
There are studies investigating the dimensional changes following free gingival graft (FGG) around teeth with inadequate attached gingiva, however no study investigating the effect of smoking on dimensional changes following FGG around dental implants exists. In the present study, we hypothesized that smoking might increase the dimensional change of FGG around dental implants and affect the healing of donor site.
The objective of this study is to compare two surgical techniques for the treatment of the mandibular bone atrophies: Dense PTFE titanium-reinforced membranes (Group A) versus Titanium mesh covered with cross-linked collagen membranes (Group B). Therefore, the main purposes are to compare test and control regarding (i) the percentage of post-operative complications (ii) the three-dimensional bone gain (iii) histological, histomorphometrical and microCT outcomes (iv) perImplant bone loss and soft tissue parameters.
A study designed as a randomized controlled trial of parallel group design will be conducted at the Dental clinic of the University of Valencia to evaluate the influence of 2.5 mm high abutments with different shapes (commercially available high abutments vs high abutments with modified shape to imitate short abutments) on peri-implant bone loss around bone level implants with platform switching in partially edentulous patients that require a fixed rehabilitation supported by two implants in the posterior mandible or maxilla and in fixed rehabilitation supported by one implant in the anterior mandible or maxilla.
Comparison of different drilling speed to classify bone quality by tactile sensation on a saw bone model
This study will compare two commonly used soft tissue grafting techniques (connective tissue graft, CTG vs Acellular Dermal Matrix, ADM) to augment the soft tissue at the time of lateral ridge augmentation procedure. Following ridge augmentation procedure, most of the times there is a need for soft tissue augmentation to change the quality of the tissue around future implant's site. To our knowledge, the influence of soft tissue augmentation at the time of ridge augmentation procedure has not been tested defects.
A multicenter prospective observational study in which aim is to illustrate the clinical outcome of dental implants "Kontact N"; and the effects of its nanostructured surface on the osseointegration and secondary stability without increasing the rate of peri-implantitis. All the enrolled patients will be eligible for one or multiple implant-supported fixed restoration(s) according to the routine clinical practice and the manufacturer's instruction for use.
Various studies showed how extent elements not directly linked to the state of the patient were involved in the failures in particular in surgery. That's why it's common to use check list system to avoid human mistakes or any other situation which could impact on the surgery. Here the study 's aim is to assess a tool set up by the Foundation for Oral Rehabilitation ; it's a check list which cover all the treatment phases concerning dental implant surgery.
Patients with fractured anterior teeth indicated for extraction will be recruited to the study. After Extraction of the tooth the socket will be evaluated and if eligible for immediate implant placement, implants will be placed either by free hand or computer guided technique. The pink esthetic score will be evaluated to be the primary outcome.
Dental implants are a prosthetic rehabilitation device whose success depends of the bone morphology and quality, in more the surgical procedure. This study aims to assess whether the parameters of the trabecular microarchitecture of alveolar bone taken from the site of the placement of the dental implant, calculated by micro-CT are correlated with ISQ (implant stability quotient) using the Osstell according the principle of the resonance frequency analysis at the 10th postoperative week during the osseointegration of dental implants (secondary stability). The cortical alveolar bone is a recognized factor in the phase of primary stability of osseointegration. The role of trabecular bone in the secondary stability is not clearly determined.
