NCT ID: NCT05917483 Completed - Clinical trials for Rotator Cuff Injuries

Evaluation of Mechanical Characteristics of Tendons of Athletes Using Sonography

Start date: January 14, 2021
Phase:
Study type: Observational

The investigators analyzed the strain of the rotator cuff tendon of baseball pitchers obtained using ultrasonography and compared the change in peak tendon strain before and after the regular season.

NCT ID: NCT05323773 Completed - Ankle Injuries Clinical Trials

How is Calf Muscle Endurance Related to Ankle Injuries in TeamGym Athletes?

Start date: April 30, 2022
Phase:
Study type: Observational

The specific aims of this study are to: - describe how many heel raises and side hops TG athletes of various ages can perform and how far they can jump, one leg at a time. - examine how calf muscle endurance and hop performance are related to the risk of new injuries in the foot, ankle, and lower leg in TG athletes. The investigators hypothesise that atletes with superior performance in the tests for muscular endurance and hop performance will report fewer injuries during the follow up period.

NCT ID: NCT04991415 Completed - Pain Clinical Trials

Manual Therapy for the Treatment of Shoulder Pain for Overuse Syndrome Wheelchair Dependent Persons

MTX
Start date: December 2014
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

Shoulder pain is a common, debilitating problem for persons with Spinal cord injuries (SCI). Shoulder pain affects approximately 40-50% of the total population of persons with paraplegia (those with SCI with full use of their upper extremities and no or limited use of their lower extremities). Among the etiologies of shoulder pain in persons with paraplegia, overuse syndrome is the most common. Shoulder overuse syndrome in a person with paraplegia is the result of high activity demands and high mechanical load on the upper extremity during activities such as wheelchair propulsion, transferring with the arms, and performing activities of daily living from a wheelchair height, resulting in increased overhead activity. The pain as a result of overuse syndrome can limit the patient's participation in occupational and physical therapy as well as limit performance of activities of daily living and participation in usual life activities. An alternative treatment for shoulder pain with evidence to support efficacy in the able bodied population is Manual Therapy (MT). Unfortunately, there have been no prior research studies published examining the therapeutic efficacy of MT for overuse injuries of the shoulder in patients with paraplegia. This study will determine if MT, is efficacious to reduce pain in this population. A total of 20 patients with paraplegia identified in the outpatient clinic at Craig Hospital with overuse syndrome of the shoulder will be enrolled in the study.

NCT ID: NCT04661111 Completed - Knee Osteoarthritis Clinical Trials

Efficacy and Safety of Hymovis ONE® (32mg/4ml) Intrarticular Injection in Active Patients With Knee Overuse Syndrome

Start date: June 13, 2016
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

The aim of this study is to evaluate the efficacy and safety of Hymovis® ONE (32 mg/4 ml) single intra-articular injection, in the management of pain caused by knee osteochondral lesions.

NCT ID: NCT04098107 Completed - Overuse Injury Clinical Trials

Throwing Device Trial

Start date: June 10, 2019
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

The primary objective of this study is to collect motion-capture data on movements common to baseball play in order to develop an algorithm for a wearable device for the prevention and rehabilitation of sports-related overuse injuries. Secondary objectives include evaluating the feasibility of wearing the throwing device during simulated baseball play.

NCT ID: NCT04060875 Completed - Clinical trials for Rheumatoid Arthritis

Research Protocol for Karuna Labs Inc.: Safety and Efficacy of Virtual Reality Graded Motor Imagery for Chronic Pain

Start date: September 21, 2017
Phase:
Study type: Observational

The purpose of this study is to investigate, in two phases: (1) the feasibility and safety of Virtual Embodiment Therapy in treating chronic pain of lower back and upper limbs and (2) the efficacy of Virtual Embodiment Therapy on chronic pain disorders of the lower back and upper limbs. In phase 1, we will investigate the feasibility, safety, and side effects related to this treatment by assessing simulator sickness. In phase 2, which in contingent on successful completion of phase 1, we will assess symptoms of pain specific to the region treated, fear and avoidance behavior, and depression symptoms before and after 8 sessions of treatment with Virtual Embodiment Therapy in order to assess efficacy. This study will be single-blinded, because the participation of the clinician is necessary to ensure proper administration of the therapy, as well as to monitor in the event of adverse reactions.

NCT ID: NCT03082651 Completed - Overuse Injury Clinical Trials

Alternate Run Study

Start date: August 1, 2016
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

The proposed study will investigate the effect of alternating footwear model and workout-type on the occurrence of running-related pain. To achieve this goal participants will be randomly assigned into one of four different groups who will perform: 1) the same workout throughout a week in the same running shoe model, 2) alternating workout-types throughout the week in the same shoe model, 3) the same workout throughout a week in alternating shoe models, and 4) alternating workouts in alternating shoes. Participants will be characterized based on body alignment, strength, injury and training history. Pain and injury status will be monitored.

NCT ID: NCT03080246 Completed - Overuse Injury Clinical Trials

Effects of Strength Training on Musculoskeletal Overuse Injuries in Female Runners

STARS
Start date: December 2015
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

The purpose of this study is to look at the effect of strength training in preventing overuse injuries in female runners

NCT ID: NCT02956135 Completed - Overuse Injury Clinical Trials

Relationship Between Dysfunctions of Movement in the Lower Back and Pelvis With Overuse Injuries in Handball Players

Start date: September 2013
Phase: N/A
Study type: Observational

The aim of this study is to assess the relationship between the presence of overuse injuries and failure to control of movement in those areas. For this, participants will perform some tests related to movement dysfunction lumbar-pelvic area to check for faults in one or more movement planes.

NCT ID: NCT01063673 Completed - Overuse Injuries Clinical Trials

The Relation Between Running Patterns and Overuse Injuries in Runners

Start date: June 2010
Phase: N/A
Study type: Observational

Running patterns are thought to have a major influence on the development of Running Related Injuries (RRI), however to studies have documented such relationship. Thus, the aim of the study is to investigate the association between running patterns and overuse injuries in runners.
