Recalling the Treatment and Prognosis of Upper Tract Urothelial Cancer (UTUC)

Among urothelial cancers, upper urinary tract urothelial cancers, including renal pelvis and ureteral cancers have a higher incidence rate in Taiwan than Western countries. In particular, the proportion of female patients is similar to that of males. This situation is significantly different from that in foreign countries. The cause is currently uncertain.In the past, the arsenic contamination of groundwater made blackfoot disease become common and malignant in areas. Now, the number of kidney dialysis patients in Taiwan is increasing; and according to statistics, there is a significantly higher incidence of urothelial cancer among kidney dialysis patients. This may be caused by the use of traditional Chinese medicine or other unknown reasons.

36 middle-aged with overweight adults were divided into three groups: 1. L-HIIT group: the long-interval HIIT group (4 × 4 min Exercise/4 min Rest), 2. M-HIIT group: the medium-interval HIIT group (8 × 2 min Exercise/2 min Rest), 3. Control group: no exercise intervention. All groups carried out the training stage for 8 weeks (three sessions per week) and the detraining stage for 4 weeks in order to investigate the effects induced by different HIIT interventions on inflammation, metabolic adaptation, anti-fatigue and exercise performance, and fat loss.

Persistent Lymphopenia in Liver Transplantation and Its Molecular Insights for Hepatocellular Carcinoma

A total of 145 Liver transplantation (LT) recipients with hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) were retrospectively enrolled at Kaohsiung Chang Gung Memorial Hospital between 2006 and 2019. Clinical records from 7 days before LT (pre-LT) to 1 year after LT (post-LT) were analysed. In a prospective study from March 2022 to June 2023, 20 lymphopenia and 25 non-lymphopenia HCC recipients were enrolled, and a phenotypic analysis of peripheral blood lymphocytes was performed using multiparameter flow cytometry.
