The Effect of Interaction-Based Early Education Program Applied to Grandparents on the Grandchildren's Health

Start date: July 1, 2023
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

In our study, "Does the early childhood intervention applied to grandparents as caregivers affect the child's growth, development (cognitive and socio-emotional development), and nutrition? Does early childhood intervention apply to grandparents as caregivers have an impact on caregiving characteristics, grandparent's health, attachment, parenting role, psychosocial well-being, role satisfaction, and communication with the child? Is early childhood intervention applied to grandparents as caregivers effective in creating a common language between grandparents and mothers on child care issues?" the answers to these questions will be tried to be answered. This randomized controlled study will be conducted between July 2023 and July 2024 with children aged 0-4 years and their parents/grandparents using a mixed methodology. Children between the ages of 0-4 will be included in the study group, and those who are only cared for by their grandparents will be included in the study group, and cared for by their parents will be included in the control group. The study will consist of 2 stages. The first phase will be conducted with a pilot study group to establish the training program. After the 5-session program is administered, a qualitative analysis will be made and the program will be finalized according to the feedback. In the second stage of the study, a pre-test will be done through questionnaires, and then a training program will be applied to the group with grandparents as caregivers. The post-test will be applied to each group 6-8 weeks after the 5-group session ends. Pre-test and post-tests will be created in the online Google survey format. Pre-tests will only be applied to grandparents and mothers. Post-tests will be carried out at 4 practice times (after 6-8 weeks, 6th, 9th, and 12th months after the end of the intervention) determined for the evaluation of both parental and childhood outcomes. The second qualitative analysis will be made in a group format with the grandparents who applied for the program and the mothers (parents) of those children. For the qualitative analysis, the pre-created semi-structured interview format will be used after obtaining the consent of the participants, and if they give their consent, a voice recording will be taken. Fathers will also be informed and encouraged to participate and will be included in the qualitative phase of the study if they give consent for participation.

NCT ID: NCT05899062 Enrolling by invitation - Constipation Clinical Trials

Telerehabilitation-based Exercise Training in Constipated Patients

Start date: June 1, 2023
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

It has been determined that three out of every four people in the society do not have sufficient physical activity level, and 54% of individuals between the ages of 15-19 and over 55 are sedentary. As a result of this, the probability of encountering the problem of constipation may increase. There are many methods in the treatment of constipation. When examined in terms of exercise interventions, it was found that 150 minutes of moderate-intensity exercise per week was effective in reducing the symptoms of constipation, while aerobic exercise performed less than 140 minutes/week did not improve the symptoms of constipation. It has been reported that individuals who received defecation training were particularly successful in the management of constipation symptoms. In our study, it is aimed to examine the effectiveness of exercise interventions for constipation. In addition, to the best of our knowledge, no study has been conducted on the effectiveness of a telerehabilitation-based education and exercise program in patients with constipation. It is thought that the management of patients with constipation with telerehabilitation will ease the burden on the health system, while it will save the patient cost and time, and will facilitate the access to treatment for patients living in geographically disadvantaged areas. In addition, it is important for patients to participate in distance rehabilitation studies in their professional and social lives, as it is an innovative treatment approach. It is thought that the exercises for constipation applied in addition to the training program may be a more effective method in improving the quality of life and colonic motility of the patients.

The Effect of Mandala Technique on Acute Nausea-vomiting and Comfort Level in Cancer Patients

Start date: December 1, 2022
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

Cancer is an important health problem in the world and in our country, and it ranks second among the causes of death in our country (20.7%). Chemotherapy, one of the most commonly used methods in cancer treatment, causes many physical and emotional symptoms while treating the disease. Nausea-vomiting is a common problem in cancer care, especially in patients receiving chemotherapy. In the literature, there are studies examining non-pharmacological interventions for the prevention and management of nausea and vomiting in patients receiving chemotherapy, and it is seen that the interventions are mostly within the scope of complementary and alternative approaches. Patients receiving ambulatory chemotherapy may experience anticipatory nausea in particular, and this is likely to affect the individual's comfort level. In studies conducted in the field, the comfort level of cancer patients receiving chemotherapy was determined as moderate. Today, mandalas are used effectively in the field of art therapy. The possibility of using mandala in all age groups has contributed to the treatment process of different diseases and disorders, and its effectiveness has been presented to the scientific world with many researches around the world. In adults, the mandala has been used both in the treatment of psychiatric disorders and as a tool to observe the effects of treatments. Art therapy including mandala drawing has significantly reduced the severity of trauma symptoms in individuals with anxiety disorders and post-traumatic stress disorder. In the study of Zhao & Tang (2017) it was determined that mandala drawing therapy reduced the anxiety of cancer patients. If the reduction of nausea-vomiting affects the comfort level and the person is relieved, a more effective treatment environment is created and the quality of life of the person is increased. In the literature, very limited studies have been reached on the use of the mandala drawing technique in cancer patients. National and international research examining the mandala drawing technique, especially in patients receiving ambulatory chemotherapy, could not be reached. The aim of this study is to determine the effect of mandala drawing technique on nausea-vomiting and comfort level in patients receiving ambulatory chemotherapy. It is anticipated that the study to be conducted will contribute to nursing interventions in the cancer care process and lead to the planning of new research on the subject.
