The main aim of the study is to learn if soticlestat, when given as an add-on therapy, reduces the number of seizures in children and adults with Dravet Syndrome (DS) or Lennox-Gastaut Syndrome (LGS). Participants will receive their standard anti-seizure therapy, plus tablets of soticlestat. There will be scheduled visits and follow-up phone calls throughout the study.

The purpose of this Proof of Concept (PoC) and Dose-finding (DF) basket study is to evaluate the efficacy and safety of orally administered Enpatoran over 24 weeks in systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) and cutaneous lupus erythematosus (CLE; subacute cutaneous lupus erythematosus [SCLE] and/or discoid lupus erythematosus [DLE]) participants in a randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled, parallel, adaptive and dose-ranging setting. Body Weight Response With Disulfiram in Humans

Overweight and obesity due to food that exceeds the requirements is an increasingly common global problem. Lifestyle intervention and anorectic drugs result in minimal weight loss, which tends to be easily regained. In addition, drugs tend to have too many side effects and have had to be withdrawn from management schemes and even from the market. Disulfiram (Antabuse®️) is approved by the Food and Drug Administration against chronic alcohol addiction. In a mouse study, disulfiram prevented body weight gain and negated the adverse impact of an obesogenic diet on insulin; used properly it is a safe drug. Carrying out a testing-concept study with disulfiram will allow the establishment of guidelines on clinical studies focused on its use as an adjunct in the reduction and control of body weight.

Effect of Cocoa Polyphenols Supplementation on Cardiovascular Risk of Postmenopausal Women

Several epidemiological studies have shown that premenopausal women are protected from cardiovascular diseases compared to men of the same age; however, after menopause (postmenopause), the cardiovascular risk increases progressively to equal the cardiovascular risk of men of the same age group. In addition, in Mexico, the incidence of women entering the postmenopausal stage with overweight or obesity increases each year. Therefore, it is essential to generate public initiatives to reduce the metabolic and physiological alterations caused by overweight/obesity and improve postmenopausal women's health and quality of life. Flavonoids are bioactive compounds that have been shown to reduce the cardiovascular risk associated with obesity since they participate in the regulation of lipid metabolism, improve body composition, reduce oxidative stress and inflammation; Therefore, our objective is to reduce the cardiovascular risk of postmenopausal women and improve the oxidative and inflammatory state, through oral supplementation with cocoa flavonoids. To do this, an innovative method will be used to assess cardiovascular risk based on knowledge of the type, number, and size of lipoprotein particles and knowing the oxidative and inflammatory state before and after supplementation with cocoa flavonoids.

Prevention and Control of Neoplasms Associated With HPV in High-risk Groups in Mexico City: The Condesa Study

Objective: To evaluate the effectiveness of a combined strategy of human papillomavirus virus (HPV) vaccination and high-risk HPV screening to reduce the occurrence of neoplasms in the anogenital region and oral cavity among men who have sex with men, people with HIV, homeless people, transgender women, female sex workers and rape victims. Methods: This mixed methods study evaluates the effectiveness of a combined vaccination-screening strategy to reduce HPV prevalence/incidence and occurrence of cervical intraepithelial neoplasms grade 2+ and/or anal intraepithelial neoplasms grade 2+, using Kaplan-Meier. The time-to-event method will evaluate time from positive results for specific anogenital HPV to incidence of anogenital lesions containing that HPV type. Conclusions: This study will generate scientific evidence on effectiveness of a combined vaccination-screening strategy to reduce the burden of HPV-associated neoplasms within vulnerable populations in Mexico.
