There are about 21062 clinical studies being (or have been) conducted in Italy. The country of the clinical trial is determined by the location of where the clinical research is being studied. Most studies are often held in multiple locations & countries.
: A pilot study was conducted on a group of 41 infants with diagnosis of Infant Colic according to Rome IV criteria. We administered to all the enrolled infants a mixture of Tyndallized bacillus coagulans and Simethicone for 28 days. The primary outcome was the mean infant crying duration at 28th day. The secondary outcome was the improvement in the quality of sleep and infants' and parents' quality of life
Primary objectives: - To estimate Sexual Dysfunction (SD) incidence in premenopausal breast cancer patients treated by surgery and taking endocrine therapy. - To detect the presence of SD-related distress in the population, as a determining factor in the maintenance of a good quality of life. Secondary objectives: - To describe SD characteristics determining the most frequently reported symptoms and correlations with type of surgery or therapeutic regimens. - Collect baseline data for subsequent randomized trials involving practical interventions with the aim to reduce SD prevalence in this population.
The common opinion that sensory supply of digit 5 (D5) and medial half of digit 4 (D4) of the hand is by ulnar nerve, while the lateral half of D4 and the remaining digits is by median nerve is an oversimplification of a complex topic. Indeed, the literature demonstrated that both the median and ulnar nerves display a number of deviations to the traditionally taught branching patterns. The aim of our study was to investigate the physiological role of median and ulnar nerves in the sensory supply of D4.
Chronic pain is a serious disorder that causes physical suffering and emotional distress. NK cells are cytotoxic granular cells playing a crucial role in innate immunity. Recent studies described modulation of the percentage of B lymphocytes and NK cells expressing the μ opioid receptor as a potential marker for measuring pain. Neuropathic pain sufferers have decreased NK cell function, highlighting the need of further investigating the effect of opioid receptor expression on lympoid cells defining their potential relevance as a pain monitor marker. Opioid receptors expressed on NK, B and T cells are a possible candidate for objective monitoring of pain in patients.
The goal of this clinical trial is to evaluate whether the topical application of Novox® Drop on surgical wounds after the extraction of lower third molars can have a clinical advantage. The primary objective of the study is to evaluate the possible reduction of masseteric trismus (masticatory muscle spasm - primary outcome) and of post-operative pain and facial edema (swelling - secondary outcomes) after the extraction of impacted third molars compared to those who do not use it (placebo=glycerin-based gel).
The aim of the study is to demonstrate the efficacy of PENG block as the main anesthetic technique to manage perioperative analgesia for hip fracture surgery compared to femoral and obturator nerve block in patients with contraindications to spinal anesthesia.
The objective of this prospective observational study is to investigate the incidence of Medication Related Osteonecrosis of the Jaws (MRONJ) in patients receiving antiresorptive drugs for oncohematologic reasons during a 5-year follow-up. Secondary objectives are to compare the different antiresorptive drugs in relation to the incidence of MRONJ and to identify any systemic as well as local risk factors.
This RCT investigates the impact of an oral supplement containing the probiotic Lactobacillus brevis CD2 on various salivary indicators of oral health. Participants will be randomly assigned to either the probiotic supplement group or a placebo group. The primary objective is to assess changes in salivary biomarkers, including salivary pH and buffer capacity; microbial composition using microbiome next-generation sequencing (NGS); and clinical oral inflammatory markers, such as full mouth bleeding score and full mouth plaque score, over a 4-week period. By comparing these indicators between the two groups, the study aims to determine the efficacy of Lactobacillus brevis CD2 in promoting oral health and potentially preventing oral diseases.
Obesity is a significant health issue that increases the risk of serious cardiovascular problems. In recent years, two dietary methods, the Ketogenic Diet (KD) and Intermittent Fasting (IF), have become popular for their potential to treat obesity and its related issue, hypertension. While both diets are known for their effectiveness in weight loss, their specific impacts on blood pressure (BP) and overall heart health risks are less understood especially in menopausal women. The main goal of this study was to investigate how the Ketogenic Diet and Intermittent Fasting compare to a regular, unrestricted diet (referred to as Free Diet or FD) in terms of their effects on clinic blood pressure levels in menopausal women. Additionally, the study looked at changes in Body Mass Index (BMI), the percentage of total body weight loss, body fat percentage, waist and hip measurements, the ratio of waist-to-hip size, and the Phase Angle (PhA), which is a measure of the body's overall health status.
This study aims at improving knowledge about the diagnosis of growth hormone deficiency (GHD) and treatment with growth hormone (GH), with the goal of providing information on the presence of new biomarkers, such as miRNAs, for diagnostic and therapeutic purposes, with the goal of establishing a personalized GH treatment scheme, optimizing resources, reducing costs, and improving outcomes.
